Yeah, I’m with you. But I know people that have a lot more money than me and will sometimes buy different costumes for each party they’re going to and they only wear them once.
And as far as employees, most of the ones in our store are college students or high school students and they’re just making some weekend party money so it doesn’t hurt them when they’re out of a job in six weeks. I think that’s really cool that they have a children’s charity. I didn’t know that.
After Halloween sales are even better from the stores. They usually stay open for 3 days after and selling everything they have left for 75% off. That's just so they don't have as much to pack up and send back. The store is AMAZING!
My son works there in the evening after his regular job. Been doing it every season for 4 yrs. He loves it and they get great discounts. Most employees have regular jobs but do this part time. They love working there and owner owns 5 in our area.
They rent out very large billboards on the highway ...this is how you find your local store. Or the internet or the flyers that show up literally everywhere.
Theres always a few in my area that are in different locations every year. You know where they are by either happening to drive by and seeing the “coming soon” banners, or by googling locations in September. I got lucky this year and they opened in August around the corner from my neighborhood. I always enjoy wandering the aisles and seeing whats new, it gets me into the spirit every year!
As somebody who runs a small local home haunt called Phoenix Dead Rising in Phoenix Arizona we love seeing the kids come done up their costumes and we end up repairing the spirit props for people we know that spend hundreds of dollars on their props that only last one season. Lew if you would like to see what real haunted props done right look like you can find us online or I can send you a personalized walk-through with all our actors and the front yard. We love doing this for our community and for the children to have a safe place to come.
Yep, we never know exactly where the Spirit store will be each year. (Though it has been in one of the many empty stores in our local mall the last few years, usually one of the old anchor shops.) We find out where it will be because the signs go up a week or so before they open and word of mouth spreads as we all start asking friends etc. if they know this year’s location. For me and my aging goth soul I typically just buy some accessories (jewelry, hosiery, makeup, gloves, etc.) that I then wear throughout the year. (I’m 45)
I know of at least four Spirit locations near me off the top of my head. They’re there every year. Many of them don’t even take their business sign down😆
I'm going be completely honest , I spend between $3,500-5,000 every Halloween on new Halloween stock etc and my electric bill runs about 200 more $$ for the month of Oct...definitely my favorite holiday and I wish you all a happy Halloween 🎃
It seems like a bit much even if you do love it. I love Halloween just as much as anyone who's obsessed with it. But I don't go that crazy I don't even decorate my house but we do go party and trick or treat with the kids.
So the Halloween stores normally try to set up a contract with the same store locations that continue to stay out of business. In some areas where businesses is slow, not all strip mall chains find new renters. You can have abandon store locations for years that mall owners have a hard time leasing out the property.
Yup. By me it was the Dominik’s. Been vacant for well over 10 yrs, spirit ends up in there every year. Not sure if any retailer is big enough to use the space year round.
❤LMAO 65yr old here from USA, been subscriber awhile..only 52 seconds in and laughing..we have a Spirit store 5 miles away...it's in an old Kmart store closed over decade ago..can't wait to watch rest of reaction..Always Love your reactions ❤❤ PS until about 3 years ago Hubby and I went Big on Halloween...decorations Insane & did Haunted House in garage...for 10 years our house was "Go to " place..people would take pictures & bring kids and grandkids back year after year..Hubby and I have health problems, can't do now...BUT gave away decorations to neighbors..So we still get to see them 😊😊😊..OK just edited reply watched more with Hubby..our Spirit store in the old Kmart has been open for 14 years..actually went to Acme grocery store in shopping center where it is today...Spirit is on other end..the Spirit was jam packed LOL 😂😂
That’s why we call the day after Thanksgiving Black Friday. It’s the day the stores get out of the red in their books (loosing money) to finally get in the black (making money) for the year.
Spirit is great for DIY Halloween stuff, too. We've built a pirate ship for the last few Halloweens. One year, we had a figurehead (the lady on the front of ships) with things from Spirit. Up close, not so great. From the street, perfection! Yes, we have to replace its pieces every year, but it's pretty cheap, and easier to work with what you've got with a few changes than an entire new decor style. As to where they are - they just....appear. I guess you don't notice empty buildings in strip malls when you're driving somewhere. Until you look and BOOM Spirit is there! We get what we need, then forget the location. So it doesn't matter that they might not be in the same locations every year. In the metro Atlanta Georgia area, there are 16 Spirit Halloween stores (this year - I just looked it up).
I’ve had Halloween costumes from there that I wore multiple years. Then I gave it to a coworker that needed one in a pinch. She used it s few times. Maybe I just don’t party hard enough.
Yes, new locations pop up all the time at random it seems like. After establishing one, they usually repeat the location every year until the space gets bought out by another company.
While watching your article about things that don't exist outside the United States, I wanted to share a few things with you. 1. I guess it’s different in NYC .. We didn’t do cheap costumes and we don’t just dispose of them after Halloween.. As a youth I remember paying top dollar for my masks.. Small children usually get cheap costumes..
We made elaborate costumes and I still have most of them but Spirit was always good for accessories ie individual vampire teeth. lol Who throws away a costume?! Btw I’m in TN, this guy is annoying and clearly sucks at Halloween. I wish Lewis wouldn’t react to him anymore. 👻 😂

There has been close to where I live for years. It always packed. I don't consider their products or costumes single use. I have used them more than once.
my best Halloween costume was a grim reaper black gown/drape/long long sleeves, dragging the ground, with a hoodie, and a scythe, and then white and black costume makeup to do my face and everybody was creeped out and noone knew who I was except the three friends that got ready with me! It was easy and fun and really made a frightening costume!
Spirit is huge. The one in my area stays open a few days after and they have everything discounted. They are in different buildings every year. Love this store.
Yes, absolutely the locations change every single year! And if one of your favorite discount retailers dies, like mine did this past year, its corpse will be reanimated by Spirit Halloween, just like mine was 😢😂
How would you find it? Lol that happened to me this year. I rolled up to the building that Spirit has rented for the last 10 years (at least) and it wasn't there. I was like What the hell? I google mapped it and it turns out it was now on the other side of town.
In my area they open at the same building locations every year and they add a new location every couple of years. They add them advertise them on billboards, I can’t wait to check out spirit Christmas
I go with my daughter and grandkids every year to Spirit Halloween to look at costumes and the animated yard creatures, my 10 year old granddaughter is terrified of the creatures.
Plenty of people only work during the holiday season, so it wouldn't be hard for Spirit to find folks to work for 6 weeks. They might also use an employment agency like Kelly Services, that interview, bill the salaries, and have people show up wherever they're needed. I've never seen a Spirit store, and I've lived all over the country except the south.
My 8year old is obsessed with Spirit Halloween. 🎃👻. I hear Spirit Halloween stores (in a few states)are also converting to a Spirit Christmas theme store also.
I bought a couple of pretty decent quality latex masks from a Spirit Halloween store in the area a few years ago and still have them. They were bought for a Halloween party at a past job and I never used them again after that. Spencer's Gifts which is a retail chain open year round who owns Spirit of Halloween which is open 6-8 weeks gets half of it's revenue and most of their profit from Spirt of Halloween.
Our local Spirit Halloween store is in the middle of town and is ALWAYS in the same spot! So we don't have to search around for it. Well that depends on which area you are in. There used to be one in a local shopping center but switched buildings a lot. Used to because the area started to have a bit of a business boom. But I think it may be in another shopping center.

I've only seen them on RUclips. I'd go browse if one popped up near me but I won't travel too far 😂

Well that depends on which area you are in. There used to be one in a local shopping center but switched buildings a lot. Used to because the area started to have a bit of a business boom. But I think it may be in another shopping center.
I got a Spirit Halloween up the road from me. Its an abandoned Rite Aid lol

Little Ceasers pizza is the only pizza chain in America that makes the dough and sauce daily and doesn’t use frozen pizza or preserved sauce. Some people are just worse at making it so some locations suck because it isn’t as easy to be consistent
Spirit set up shop here in San Diego back in July
Here in Queens NYC i waited on line for 25 mins just to get inside
