Our puppy is six months old. He is half French Bulldog and American Boxer. We can't get him to stop biting us. What do you suggest? He pulls, jumps up on you. The only thing he will do for us is sit.
When I was 8 years old, my father brought home a puppy from the pound. I spent the whole summer with her all day training and exploring through the woods behind our house. She learned to follow me without a leash, even to the ice cream shop that my friends and I rode our bicycles to. My dog sat and waited outside for me an hour while we enjoyed our time inside the shop. This was all before leash laws, but she was so obedient. I never had to yell. I guess as a kid, I was just in tune with her and the time I spent training paid off.
Indeed..if you bring the right attitude/energy to a dog/especially as a puppy..they learn fast.. If you do the right thing for the first 3-4 years: you're going to have a dog that is ''creme de la crop'.. It amazes me not more people understand this. Turn your dog into a ''good citizen'' easy peasy..no matter what breed.I see so many people having trouble with their dog/s and a simple correction snaps them out of it. Cesar understands this.
@@alswedgin9274 it’s amazing how many people are entirely obvious to the idea of correcting the dogs or trying to create/establish balance in their pooches. I’m currently in Brazil, working in this area - I feel very much like Cesar when he came to the states. Brazil is the most biodiverse place on earth and I’m not sure 2nd place is all that close - so I expected a population to be more in tune with nature but it turned out being the exact opposite (at least in major cities) 😅 I’ve been slowly working on this problem - working with owners to better connect with their dogs and reconnect with nature. But all of the extremes that Cesar mentioned encountering when first coming to America as it pertains to humans and their pets, this place is all of that on steroids! Everyone instinctively stares at dogs, they talk to and/or try to pet your dog without acknowledging the human, dogs that bark at one another from great distances (whether or not they know one another) actually meet - I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve seen fights start this way!
That's a beautiful story...my mom's dog was the same... when i was a young boy...i still think about my moms dog today...I'm now in my 50s...I was so proud of my mom's dog. Times have changed
I wish every person who is having plans to bring home a puppy, would watch this video first and then use it as a tool of instructions. ❤🐕 Cesar, you are ahead of the game!
This dog is not a pup! It's a full grown dog! I have a puppy and you can definitely tell the difference! A puppy doesn't have muscle . A puppy doesn't have their adult stance like this dog does ..
Yes! Also If anybody is still struggling to train their puppy, Google the phrase I posted above. It contains calming exercises and they work so so good.
This is a powerful lesson on patience, both for trainer and puppy. A lot of people I feel like get frustrated or give up much too soon and don’t give their pup a chance to really work it out for themselves
Beginner basics, love it. And not trying to use vocal commands!. Super seeing Cesar's patience when the puppy gets distracted. Much better than the videos that look like a dog has been trained with no errors in a minute! Always have a more high value treat too.
This was so helpful thank you Cesar! I just rescued a 9 month old puppy from East Valley Animal Shelter and today is his first full day home. He is so incredibly fearful of EVERYTHING at this point, especially after the loud and terrifying noises from the shelter, his surgery, and a new environment all in a period of 24 hours! It was a very long night last night, so right now he’s in his bed, in the bedroom sleeping off his stress, but when he wakes up, I will definitely work with him on these three things! Lots of patience indeed! I just have to remember not to let my empathy for his previous situation get on him. Wherever he came from as a stray, whatever his life was before, it’s going to be better now that he is with us. I have to remember that and not focus on how poorly he was treated where he was in the past.
@Ivana Štimac oh you're referring to dog trainers. You stated a "Cesar" for "people" so a clear misunderstanding, no need to be rude. I personally know a dog trainer who shares cesar's philosophy.
have adopted a handsome Austrian Shepard & Golden Retriever mix with no previous education on anything. I am watching your lessons first on stay, wait and lunging while being walked and much more! Thank you for your help This dog will be awesome from these lessons.

Wow! Ceaser, your teaching embodies love, patience, and respect. The click of your tongue or a hand gesture makes the dog putty in your hands. It's a profound experience to watch. I ordered a leash. This was GREAT! I am getting a puppy in just a few days. I haven’t had a puppy in 40 YEARS! I adopt a little older dogs. This will be so helpful. Thank you Cesar! Now, those little biting teeth…
We are about to pick up our new 8 week old puppy. King Charles/Golden Retriever from breeder. This video was the most important for all the family to watch! We will follow this amazing training instruction. Thank you Cesar!
As an european, if you asked me what person embodies the most the idea of the American Dream I would yell Cesar the fucking Lengend Millan. He is the goat.
I really wish I had watched this video when my dad came home to surprise us with a new puppy. Unfortunately the whole responsibility was on me and I had no idea what I was doing. Ceasar showed it so simply and easily to train a puppy, unlike the other videos and articles I read to train mine. Like the crate, they said to put the dog in the crate and close the door. Open it and if the dog will try to come out to close it again. But really that's like trapping the dog instead of letting the dog know that the crate is a safe place. My own frustration was put on the dog and sometimes I just put her in the crate as in "time out" when really that made her fear of the crate increase. I no longer have her, we didn't have the time to take care of her and give her what she needed to be a dog. I am glad she's with an owner who helped her and got her to be where she is now. But I will for sure to look for this video, and even be more prepared for a dog when I decide to get one that is for me. 1. Get a plat form not too high off the ground to create that boundary 2. Have tons of patience and work with the dog whenever I can 3. Get her used to a leash 4. Walk and take time with her 5. Crate train properly 6. Always stay calm and wait for the rest that is either sit or laying down 7. Never create separation attachment
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge ❤ my daughters want to be just like you! They are so excited to learn to communicate with dogs on a deeper level from someone like you.
I love how real is this video, minimum edition and showing us from A to Z how to train them. Sometimes it’s frustrating to watch some videos on RUclips where puppies magically listen and do exactly as their owners say, but you can see the clips have been dramatically edited …
I like observing Cesar's behaviors. When he takes the deep breath and blows out slowly to calm himself as he trains the puppy is really impressive. His technique makes so much sense. I also appreciate that he told us that smells "have an expiration date". I thought the puppy wasn't as hungry after receiving rewards, but he clearly was just needing a different smell motivation!
It’s amazing that he does this with no words towards the animal. No high pitch tone, No extra rewards just patience, patience , Patience and the ocasional sssshhhh to train these pups. Amazing! I need that level of patience
I recently got a 14 mo old pup whom has lived most of his life in the pound. Fortunately, he had obedience training early by the local prison dog training program, and he was taught by the best trainer they have. He is sharp and knows his commands and does not need a treat to be reminded, except for "come here" or "heel". It's his first time getting to walk in the parks and smell all sorts of animal smells, so I have not been strict with requiring him to heel. After watching a few of Caesar's videos, I have changed my mind about that. I do want to get to the point if we are out camping and hiking that he could be off leash and not worry he'll take off. My dog is timid, which is mainly why he was passed over so much. He is skiddish when it comes to fast movement and certain sounds, especially sirens, horns, and trucks backfiring. So I am slowly introducing him to these sounds. I could use help on how to better handle those interactions. This pup definitely is a cling to your side, got to be in the same room, "what ya doing?" kind of dog... I put him in the crate once, the wrong way, and he had it torn apart in an hour. So, I have slowly been leaving him in the car alone while I go into the store for short trips. I leave him where he can see me go in and return. He still has his harness on and seat restraint connected, so he can't go nuts all over the car. I have seen no signs of anxiety! Also, I have left him alone in the house for 20 minutes twice, now. He just waits at the door. In 3 weeks time he now will sit in the living room while I am busy in the kitchen... huge progress! So, these videos help immensely and I will rewatch them until I get it right. So grateful for this resource!
Just wow Cesar. I'm getting a new puppy in 3 weeks and have watched many videos... but your videos are absolutely the BEST and clear to understand and you can see how much you love dogs. THANK YOU
Currently fostering an abandoned mama dog and her 9 babies. This is so, so very helpful!💗 Thank you!!! I wish those who give up on their dogs would understand that it’s a lot work in the beginning of a dog’s life laying the groundwork, but the benefits of investing their time in training have immeasurable benefits.💗

How do you train a dog who is not treat / food oriented? I have a very picky Alaskan Malamute puppy who will not eat treats at all. She only eats her morning and evening meals and, for the rest of the day, ignores food altogether.
I followed another trainer who used the term "currency" which could be treats or also a favorite toy but a favorite toy that is kept separated from the everyday toy. Meaning something that is used as a special just for training purposes. I'm not an expert but something that I watched and it seemed to work well with different dogs!
Wow perfect timing! We are picking up our puppy next week and I’ve been frantically trying to learn what to do once puppy comes home. This video is like God heard my prayer for real! I love it that it shows practical ways amd that it shows that it won’t work perfectly straight away. That you need to be patient. Because a lot of Cesar vids I watch is almost like instant success. But this one was good to see the process take place.
I’m watching this video several times, I’m picking up my Papillon in nine weeks. She is almost three weeks old now. I want to be the best pack leader and teach her how to be the best pack follower. I’ve watched you for years and at the age of 70, I think I can follow your lead and be Belle’s leader.
This guy has wisdom. I have watched so many other videos about basic trainings for puppies, and this one makes the most sense. I am retired and I am planning to get a medium size dog to travel with me in a SUV. Never owned a dog.
And he's not teaching rich Peoples Puppies, he helps the ones no one wanted. He became a bit mainstream and inauthentic with people, but he's still the biggest and naturally talented Dogman. He tought me, that I'm right. Thank you
Everything with Cesar is in threes. 👍 I’m so glad he got distracted because that is exactly what happens when I do it, now I can use your techniques in those situations.
Love this topic like to see more. And I appreciate how the difference between RUclips & the show or older tv versions where we get much more detail & best Caesar’s thinking before he does certain things-helps my brain digest the message much easier.
The humans of these rescued puppies will be so blessed to have trained puppies. I think it makes the puppies feel secure too, once they know something is expected of them. It becomes security within the animal human unit/relationship.
I am planning to share this video with people who are taking puppies to their forever homes today. Even folks who have had dogs can find inspiration in Cesar's videos if they take the time to listen.
Awesome and so educational. All new puppy owners should be required to go thru those kinds of training sessions with their puppy so the owner (and the puppy) have a good start. Would alleviate many problems and make the puppy (and owner) more confident.❤
It's not as easy as we see Cesar Millan trained a puppy. Trust, respect, and love, plus patience are the main keys. Cheers for better humans, better dogs, better planet.
Cesar, you are a true gift 🙏 . Thank you. One of the things I noticed in this video is how these pups aren't biting his hands or nipping/biting each other. Even when he holds the pup while talking in the video it isn't biting his hands. I have an 11-week old high energy Cockalier (American Cocker/Cavalier King Charles) puppy and she just continually bites my hands like a little piranha with those little needle teeth. It is hard to stay in a calm state when she won't settle with the biting. The box is something that I am definitely going to utilize. Thank you so much Cesar!!
You end up waiting a lot with puppies. You need a lot of patience. This in my mind is the most important tip to any dog owner. Losing patience means failure. I am writing this comment to remind myself that.
Really like all you do teaching people to be patient and have faith so they can have a happy, loving, peaceful and successful life with their puppy as well as when they’re grown. Thank you for always sharing your gift.
He’s my hero I’ve applied what I’ve learned from him to my life. I’m a happy owner of 2 dogs. Both know their place & respect my space. Be a great & responsible pet owner. ❤️
wonderfull moments to be shared.... I've just took a new family member born at 1-3-2022. female beagle, bicolor so pretty :) ... it has been a joy since her arrival... we are 7 now... lol.
Been watching and learning from U, Caesar, for the last 20 years. This video is absolutely ESSENTIAL for puppy training. The same as wth human children, start teaching ur puppy early on the RIGHT way. Common sense and Caesars instructions will give U what U want.
Such inspiring lessons. Thank you so much to share your knowledge on dog`s training with us: what`s good to do + how and when to do it. You are very gifted and you share your gift with all of us. It is your mission in this life. I am sure God is very pleased with you. ❤
Cesar, you are such an inspiration. kids are so much like this. Respect, trust and love works on every species, barring a few blood suckers from hell. I weep when I see how badly too many children are raised these days - so sad.
Amazing video, I feel your work being calm surrender. This does not just happen, you have to practice, just like you are teaching the dog to. Nose knows
Obrigada Cesar pelos ensinamentos! Acompanho seus vídeos a vários anos e me ajudaram muito a entender e condicionar os cães. Abraços fraternos do Brasil 🇧🇷!!
Best companion and tutor ever..... I swear on my career I haven't seen such important thing explained in such an easiest and happiest way....... For which many of us have been struggling before Thanks Cesar....... From-- Bhavesh....(India)

Hey y
Is create training always necessary? I’ve personally never used a crate but my new puppy is a chewer when we leave her alone.

you should do shows training humans
while dogs watch!
i think this what you do anyway but I’m sure you know what I mean ;)

''I think it makes the puppies feel secure too, once they know something is expected of them.'' Good remark!
I learn something every time I watch you. Your insight into dogs is incredible. Thank you for being such a good teacher.
You are very good. Your videos are very instructional and very useful. Thank you for sharing with us, your talent and skills in dog training.
I love the way you explain things and you are very caring thank you
I am planning to share this video with people who are taking puppies to their forever homes today. Even folks who have had dogs can find inspiration in Cesar's videos if they take the time to listen.
Cesar you don't even know how much one video could help. This one helps with my puppy so much. This is crazy! Thank You for this ❤
Awesome and so educational. All new puppy owners should be required to go thru those kinds of training sessions with their puppy so the owner (and the puppy) have a good start. Would alleviate many problems and make the puppy (and owner) more confident.❤
I'm in love! The puppy was cute too.
Starting this with my 15 week old pup. Today!!! This is so helpful and fantastic! I am building our point of reference now!
You are the best dog trainer in the world!
I have learned so much from you!
Amazing heck I get peaceful watching you train …
Hi - would love to see this video a prerequisite to any adoption organizations -SPCA and similar! Great vibe, simple, works! ❤🎉
Thank you. 👍
It's not as easy as we see Cesar Millan trained a puppy. Trust, respect, and love, plus patience are the main keys. Cheers for better humans, better dogs, better planet.
Hello Sherly, how are you doing today, wishing you good health and happiness this new year 2023😊👋
Thank you very much! I loved it when you said, "give love to your dog at the right moment." Great videos!
Cesar thank you so much. That was a brilliant video. You're the "Gift to dogs, whisperer!" 💯♥️
So thankful for an honest video where you can see that this really TAKES TIME and patience.
Really like all you do teaching people to be patient and have faith so they can have a happy, loving, peaceful and successful life with their puppy as well as when they’re grown. Thank you for always sharing your gift.
Absolutely great tips, thanks
This is one of the best video about puppy obedience ❤ great work and thanks for sharing ❤
He’s my hero I’ve applied what I’ve learned from him to my life. I’m a happy owner of 2 dogs. Both know their place & respect my space. Be a great & responsible pet owner. ❤️
wonderfull moments to be shared....
I've just took a new family member born at 1-3-2022. female beagle, bicolor so pretty :) ... it has been a joy since her arrival... we are 7 now... lol.
It's like well behave children come from good parenting. This dog is like 1000 times better than my neighbours kids.
Awesome video!! Thorough explanations since I need training more than my pup, to be her best leader. Thank you, Cesar!! ❤
I loved this video of a much more slowed down version of teaching a puppy and showing the patience it requires! Really enjoyed the video!
It was great. Loved watching your instructions.
Been watching and learning from U, Caesar, for the last 20 years. This video is absolutely ESSENTIAL for puppy training. The same as wth human children, start teaching ur puppy early on the RIGHT way. Common sense and Caesars instructions will give U what U want.
Cesar, you are still the best!!
Such inspiring lessons. Thank you so much to share your knowledge on dog`s training with us: what`s good to do + how and when to do it. You are very gifted and you share your gift with all of us. It is your mission in this life. I am sure God is very pleased with you. ❤
Cesar should get a Nobel Peace prize.
I am mesmerized watching Cesar Millan. Such a wonderful human, beyond words.
Hello 👋 julie
How are you doing today?
Ah this is pawesome!
I like to say thats amaze balls!
Always love Ceasar Millan. He's great to dogs and humans. Amazing
Nose knows
With entuziasm , passion for passing the knowledge and patience goes a very long way.
Cesar 👌🤗😘
Gracias Cesar! Your methods are awesome!
I’m learning so much watching you, I’ll definitely be a better dog mom next time.
