    The first time that I remember seeing that rooftop apartment with the green paint on the outside patio was during 'Pure in Heart' (aka 'Pure 19') when it served as Yang Gukwha's (Goo Hye Sun) residence. Since then, every time I see it I think, "That's Gukwha's house!" :)

    It's messed up that people expect the company to retain them until they are ready to retire. Those days are long gone. The world is ever changing, nothing stays permanent, jobs, lives, people....so we have to plan ahead for the future as best we can so that when an unexpected catastrophe happens, we are at least prepared for it and have the fortitude to see things through. The rich looking down on the poor is nothing new...been around since the old, old days. Not that it's right but it's just a fact of life.

    That blond singer's acting is natural considering that she is new comer, yet if you cry, your eyes should be a bit reddish, right?

    The in laws are enablers. They know UIjin can't run a business. But, they keep giving him money and no business training. The mother in law could have trained him slowly in her real estate business. Also, money does not give her the right to look down on him. It sets a bad example for the little girl. They could get a maid and nanny while he goes to school. The wife could fix meals on the weekends and help out in the evenings to give him a break. It's called a marriage. Both have to work at it to make it work.

      omeomy33 The mother in-law could train him but he doesn't have any experience and with his past history of losing money on a bad deal coupled with his 'pipe-dream' of getting rich quick without doing any work = FAIL!! He should get his head out of the clouds and start from the bottom and work his way up by gaining experience and see what comes from that! Like Ujin said in the last episode that his brother should act like an older brother and not a loser...

    What is Ujin's problem? She helped him when he was drunk & passed out on the street yet he can't even say thank you. Now he's using this new issue to start something else with Haesu because he can't say thank you and he was so worried about some damn picture of his ex.

    so in korea ers arent attached to hospitals? the place seems to be what they call "urgent care" here in the us meaning "serious but not life threathing".....

    • @EloiseInParis
      @EloiseInParis 9 лет назад +1

      MrNightshade2010 In SK they call everywhere Dr's and Nurses work Hospitals. Even what westerners would call a Dr's Office is a Hospital in SK. Yeah where he works now does look like what we call an Urgent Care facility. But the place where he left was a real hospital attached to a University so he has gone way down the scale status wise.

    Yewon is really annoying. She gets engaged to some other guy behind Ujin's back, then has the nerve to wonder why he didn't tell her about what happened with the fellowship? Unbelievable. And why is she in this man's face when she's already ruined the relationship doing things her way AND he's made it clear he's done and doesn't want to listen to her excuses and reasons?

    I really cannot understand this culture, is money a good enough reason to vow down to someone? I think not, money is just plain dirty.

    The executive director was so slimy I couldn't watch him for a bit. Very true to life. This is very good.
    Househusband was a bit of a louse. He should just suck it up. This land deal wasn't the first bad deal he got his wife involved in. He loved his wife... he is a horrible judge of business. He needs to pipe down.
    The relation between househusbands family and his wife's family is one of those mysterious incomprehensible things orientals do. It makes for interesting and slightly odd cultural things. It makes for better lives for them I think. I'm slightly jealous of the odd messiness.
    The doctor has temper problems too. He and ms Ko should have talked it through. His right to be p1ssed at her. But he should have calmed down.
    singer is cute. established before that she is dim, but cute.

      MrNightshade2010 It's not just the old people. The fact that nearly every other person seems so incredibly rude, and gruff, to strangers, relatives, employees, etc. I wouldn't last two days in a place like that.They'd be able to track me down by the trail of bloody noses I'd be leaving behind due to such crass, insolent, uncalled for behavior...

    What was he doing for 35 years where he didn't get promoted, or cozy up to the right people? Most people move on.

      Cherish Adventure I think this is what we do in the US. From drama watching I've gathered that once one got a permanent job in a corporation in Korea, a man stays there permanently. There are issues with getting along with higher UPS and one's social relationships that seem to influence a person's job position. In general one just works hard where one is with little expectation of promotion. Early retirement must be a big issue in Korea now because it's a theme in several current shows.

      Mary Ann Nelson It seems like they are going through the same thing the U.S. went through maybe 30 or 40 years also. Yep it is major in Korea. I was watching the news, so many were told to go to the best schools, have the best family situations and they would have jobs. Right now a lot of the bright young graduates do not have a job. It's just not enough to keep a job once you get in. You have to do things to help yourself get promoted and move ahead or else they weed you out. Did you watch "Misaeng". Good drama on the work force. Just seems like the days of being in one company and one position for a lifetime is going bye bye around the world.

    • @Chownz

      Cherish Adventure That's happening here as well; the old days of one job/career for life is a myth education will only get you so far and experience will get you the job, but the key word is 'hourly rate' the government here has allowed employers the right to dismiss employees after ninety days of employment without repercussions. Much older experienced employees are being laid off and replaced by younger workers on a lower rate, I myself lost my job after so many years and now can't get another one as I'm too over qualified: degrees, business/ownership experience.... Sad world we live in now but that's progress for you I guess!!

      It's a difficult transition. It also give some an opportunity to do other things. Do consulting and work for yourself. Do internet businesses or offer a service online. With all of your experience and know how you must have a lot of connections over the years. Find a nitch that no one else is filling. It's difficult yet we are being pushed to evolve. Nothing stays the same. The days of the job, I feel are over. Most will be working for themselves.

    • @Chownz
      @Chownz 9 лет назад +1

      Cherish Adventure Evolve to survive in a ever changing society and working environment yes, but one has to be able to change; sexism and ageism exist in the workforce that prevents older workers from gaining employment. And to some extent pride as well as many are facing the possibility of working under younger employers - I did for some time though I didn't leave because of my pride but rather the changing work environment meant that those who only joined the company were laid off (as explained in previous comment). But yes one has to find an angle within the working world that would get you recognised and pray that it works out!
