Absolute respect for this company for doing this. Not yet at the level of the GS but if that is their aim they are really close. But maybe it is not ok to compare. If they can provide a fantastic movement, superb detail and service it might address a seperate market of high level watches. I really enjoyed the comparrison!

It's a beautiful and beautifully made watch! The concave polished bezel is a smart move, because that way It's less exposed to scratches. Speaking of polished surfaces: I love the bracelet, that's how you add polished accents without making it too blingy. How convenient the traditional Korean colour pallet contains the popular and inoffensive dial colours grey, dark blue and green! 😉

I have no problem dropping the coin on this micro brand. I think it's better than the Grand Seiko especially in terms of the movement. Kudos to Pitzmann. Great review. Thanks for sharing.

I hope you also know that Grand Seiko bracelets come with two half links that are really more like 2/3 links, so by mixing and matching half and full links, you can adjust the bracelet in 1/3 link increments, or about 3mm. Knowing that would solve the problem of pretty much everyone who complains about poor fit.

All the endless grousing about the Grand Seiko bracelet is so much bandwagon jumping groupthink, and not knowing this trick. If the bracelet is too long, and you take out a half link and it's too short, and then conclude that it won't fit and the bracelet sucks means you did it wrong. In that case, take out a full link, add in a half link, and you have a perfect fit. Once you get a good fit, the bracelet is fine. Consider this a PSA.

Quite a lovely watch, obviously well made and solid looking. I'm a big fan of the lug shape they use, the interesting case angles, and those high polish accents on the case are great, along with the bezel choice, the hands, and the indices. Very unique elements in play, but still played pretty conservatively overall with the dial. The movement is really great, they're clearly not cutting corners with this, and the price seems very reasonable for what you're getting. Unfortunately, this is above my typical price range, but also not what I'd probably go with if I was going to be spending at around that price point in any event. Still, what a lovely looking and performing watch.

No amount of half/quarter/three quarter links can replace microadjust (especially the on-the-fly type) when your wrist often changes size during the day. Tool-less microadjust clasps should be a standard feature, or at the very least an available option. Nice looking watch though. I wonder if it's the same company that makes Pitzman's Mustard?

Very helpful review and comparison. I have been wondering about this, but have no access to a Grand Seiko example. Since zaratsu is often described as distortion free reflections which can turn evenly white or black (on flat surfaces), I have to admit that is EXACTLY what I got on the Pitzmann II. So, great that you confirm via Pitzmann themselves that they used manufacturers that employ the same/similar techniques to Grand Seiko. It shows. I also agree that it shows strongest on the hands, but that is where thanks to the flat surfaces it is most easily appreciated. On the indices, the little scalloping slope down almost doesn't allow such comparison, and I'm not entirely sure the diagonally rising sides of the ridges are supposed to be entirely straight. In that sense, the geometrical shape of the GS indices was likely to win, because they continue that same flat surface geometry of the hands. I do also agree that the micro-ridging on the top of some GS indices seems like a great invention. I'd love to see that in the metal some time. The concave bezel and the bevel on the case look very even indeed. It would seems that part of the 'zaratsu' difference is that the flat side rather than the circumference of the polishing disc is used, seemingly also for round surfaces. Naturally, the remaining question is if the same technique is used for all polished surfaces. But the effect is an immediate wow. While the design stays a little reserved, perhaps, it is the whole that impresses with the Pitzmann II. Now, I happen to like a little distortion, and I don't truly get it when people claim there is no distortion on double domed sapphires. In my experience both distort at very acute angles, and I certainly don't mind it here, especially since the dome is so slight you'd be unable to consult the time at such angle anyway. When looking for weaknesses, I suppose it could be brought up, but to me it feels much more of a deliberate choice. I think in comparing these two, it is important to mention that an automatic movement from Grand Seiko would be even more expensive than the quartz, meaning that like for like, Pitzmann's value proposition is really quite phenomenal. In my estimation, too, this is possibly the cheapest SW300 equipped watch out there. Even more impressive when you think they modified it to be dateless (no ghost position). I did have prior experience of the movement in my much-loved Bravur. Also a mirobrand punching above its weight that seems to not create that much of a buzz. Their BW003 is still on my wishlist and at 1120USD is only a little more than the Pitzmann, though this is with closed caseback. (The only other brand worth mentioning is the Axia with a SW360. I don't know if this is similarly decorated and upgraded with extended power reserve.) So, yes, the Pitzmann offers something incredible and worth celebrating. And no, ultimately, it is still not very fair to compare a microbrand's second release to Grand Seiko, so all the more impressive it actually holds its own!

Some facts needed here: The Sellita sw-200 is a copy/derivative of the ETA 28xx family, the Sellita sw-300 is a copy/derivative of the ETA-289x family, and the Sellita sw-500 is the copy/derivative of ETA/Valjoux 775x, so nothing new here. All these movement are lever movements. Now, the title indicates "Better than Rolex, Better than Omega, apparently, but not better than Grand Seiko". So where in the video are you showing that comparison with Rolex and Omega, and in what? It may have an excellent finishing, but in terms of functionality or movement quality, where is it? Of the three brands, the one that offers the most innovative and advanced fully mechanical movements is Omega- 15000 Gauss magnetic resistance in almost all its movements, uses the Co-axial mechanism that is almost oil-less so recommended servicing is every 5-7 years, 5-year warranty, adjusted to 5-6 positions and Isochronism, and regulated at 0-5 s/day. So where is this watch better? It may be the Best Bang for the buck coz its a high quality,, but that is different from being better. But I like the Pitzman barnd, I just ordered the 1299.00 USD Pitzman 3 Chrono that uses Seiko NE88 movement, and that is a steal!!!!!!
