  • Very often there are three different parts in a Bachata song. It starts with Derecho or Caminando, than the Majao part comes and sometimes they even have a Mambo part. In all of those parts the bongo and guira play different rhythms.
In this tutorial I will explain how you can play those rhythms on bongo and guira. For the Play Along videos and the notations you can join me on Patreon: / michaeldemiranda

Hey Michael, I am a bachata dancer and in order to improve my musicality, I am also learining about the rhytm and how it is played. This video is extremely helpful not only for the musicans but also for the dancers like me, because I can finaly understand, what is the basic structure for the three different patterns (derecho, Majao and Mambo). Thank you for the video! :))

Dankjewel!

I am new to music so I do not really know much about the vocabulary.
But is mambo not played in "triple tempo" after the first beat?
Because you have 9 notes following and play them three times as fast.

Yes, sometimes these 3 rhythms are played in 1 song. So the tempo is the same.

Excellent indeed. If you analyze and replay bachata riffs, you may want to check out Victor Victor (any album, famous song here: ruclips.net/video/4wAjnd8qvbQ/видео.html) or Juan Luis Guerra's "Bachata Rosa" album.
