The Braves series is an important series for the play off run.
Going "All In" this season would imply rentals, which as you said, doesn't make any sense for the Mets. Making moves that help the Mets this year AND beyond just makes perfect sense. The plan was always to be hyper competitive in 2025, and the fact that the Mets are already *this* good in 2024 just means great things for the present and the future.
@@efropoker so skubal and Robert are rentals? I’d say they’re about as all in as you can get. Plus soto is the big fish which as we know only requires money. Go spend some prospects and make us a superpower this year and then next year we’re a juggernaut
Remember when the Mets were that good in 2021? What happened in 2022? Success isn’t guaranteed to turn over to the next season
I pray they trade McNeil. This guy just makes too many mental mistakes. 4 homeruns in 5 games or not just don't make up for all the mental mistakes he commits. Just not baseball smart.

Baty is a very good bargaining chip for Mets. I always liked Baty but with Vientos playing this well and Iglesias able to play third on the fly makes Baty expendable
Mauricio also looked good and he can play third. I still believe Baty has a great future, but you have to trade something to get something.
Mauricio is a given to be on the team next year making Iglesias not on the team next year, unless they make him a DJ Stewart type guy getting limited ABs….Iglesias is going to be 35 next season
Isn’t Mauricio a 2nd baseman ? I think we lose McNeil somewhere between now and 2025

One of your best pieces yet, Wardy! You have no idea how much I want the Mets to get Robert Jr. Another guy that I like that's getting hot lately is Seth Brown of the A's. Left handed hitter that can play the OF corners and 1B. Lot of swing and miss, but alot of power. He has 2 more years of control left.

@@WardyNYM The goal should be to concentrate totally on pitching and not touch the lineup. Each position player has contributed to where we are today. It would not be fair to let any of them not enjoy the rest of the ride.
@@christineg7888oh contraire mon frere if the Mets can somehow add Robert Jr to this lineup I'd be willing to bet not one single Mets player would be unhappy in the slightest! Dump or trade marte send down or trade Stewart and add Robert Jr (talk about a great outfield!) then a pen arm or two and I as well as the vast majority of met fans and met players would be ecstatic! He has multiple years of control so letting go of an OF prospect and a few others wouldn't be so hard to swallow it all depends on the price in the end but I'm all for it (in theory)

I don't know enough about Robert to really assess but, neither Jazz or Arozarena seem to me to be a fit for the Mets clubhouse. I am surprised these are the bats you'd be interested in. As for Mets who are possible to be moved, I would put Baty and Prada as highly possible to be moved. Mets need a Cespedes-like move this trade deadline to propel them
2 days ago I told my son that the Mets should trade for Puk and now find out the D-Backs got him.. it’s going to be tough for Mets to add a reliable reliever because too many teams are in need as well.. Sterns is going to try to be creative just like he did getting Maton

Just because you are rebuilding doesn't mean you can't trade young talent to get other young talent to better your team in the long run. This is a real possibility and I'm down it just depends on what the cost is because there is a threshold that can't be crossed but I have faith in Sterns and Cohen to get the best deals possible
Skubal from Detroit should be the target if you are looking for a blockbuster trade. Most likely, they will only add much needed bullpen help.
Trade Baty. He will have some value and he will never help the Mets.

I think that if we take three of four from the Braves, we should go all in! But do it smartly, maybe trade Brett Batty and that catcher Kevin Parada! We have our catcher of the future. We don’t need him. He’s like our number ninth prospect so he’s high but he’s not super high. We’re never gonna use him with Francisco Alvarez. We should trade prospects like that. We’re not gonna need Batty with Vientos! So there are ways to add big talent and not cut prospects that we can use
Bullpen has been coming together. If Butto can stay healthy nunez continues rolling and Maton/young holding it down think they can focus on other departments

We’re a year ahead of schedule basically but I wouldn’t ruin that by going ALL in & screwing up our future. I think they’ll be smart & yes try to acquire some pieces to get us to be as competitive as possible for the rest of this season but also making sure we come out guns blazing next season & years to come ✊🏼🔶🔷

Keep McNeil in RF and Iglesias at 2B. Trade for a rock solid bullpen arm.Package up a half dozen or more guys if you have to.
They should get Randy Arozarena and another relief pitcher.
Key words: “Should he be able to stay on the field” -regarding Luis Robert Jr. -That’s the million dollar question.
This is what makes Pete hard to move because he doesn’t miss games and he give you 35+ HRs and 95+ RBIs yearly, which doesn’t grow on trees.
Going all in would be a HUGE mistake. They need to add talent and if the right deal for a long term piece becomes available they should pounce on that and I think that deal would be Crochet. But outside of that it would be a gigantic mistake to significantly overspend for talent here they need to make some moves for the bullpen but otherwise let this season play out. Let’s enjoy this run without sacrificing our entire future for what is not a great WD opportunity. Anything is possible and this team can do damage in October but it can just as easily miss the post season by a game or get swept in a road wild card round
All in is a huge freaking mistake that could set this team back for 5 years
Definetly do not go all in. If im trading anyone from the minors its Prada , Ramirez, Stewart, Zeigler. Im not trading if I dont feel it.
I get what you're saying but if you have the chance to pounce on a trade for Robert Jr and a pen arm you jump all over it as long as it doesn't completely clean out the minors

Have to look far beyond just his 2024 numbers, Injury riddled and all, before evaluating Robert. He’s one of the best 5 tool players in the game and has so much potential still

Talent from Houston not close..Gilbert just came off the dl and barely played this year and Ryan Clifford is probally are future 1b and he is not ready. Luisangel Acuna is ready from Texas. But o would not trade him
The Mets might get a Wildcard spot, but it’s a one game sudden death playoff spot. Don’t trade our future for a single playoff game! Be satisfied with the team moving in the right direction for a change. As it is, I didn’t like the Winker trade. Why not? Because this team need pitching prospects, and can’t afford to trade them away for a rental player.
I doubt the Mets get an offensive bat like Robert or anything you are mentioning. The Mets have some 'soft' interests internally and via trades that requires less value in return. What I believe the Mets ARE LOOKING FOR is STARTING PITCHING and a RELIEVER OR TWO. I can see a BIGGER MOVE for a QUALITY STARTER than a reliever considering the Mets have Reid-Foley coming back as well as the fact they are really out of options with others they now have on their roster. This is why I feel like a QUALITY STARTER is what you should expect and their are a few that I would be looking at: Jamison Taillon (chic), Tyler Anderson (Ana), Jon Gray (TX), N Eovaldi (TX), Jack Flaherty (Det), EriK Feddie (Chi-A), Garret Crochet (Chi-A), K. Gausmann (Tor), or K. Freeland (Col). I don't see the Mets getting much from the NL, because of the tight race but their are a few pitchers their that might be available that would be good arms at the top of their rotation to solidify their staff. Please let me know what you think and if any of these you agree/disagree with:

Mets take at least 3-4 from Atlanta stearns should get the green light to go wild. With lindor playing as he’s always meant to play this teams ceiling is limitless. I get not wanting to give up the farm. We have vientos, Alvarez, and mauricio at the helm for the next half decade. We don’t need a million prospects. If the package is right, yah I want skubal or Robert. Jazz would be a great get too, he’d be a star

Exactly! They ARE the key to a championship but that can mean different ways as in they can be traded for players to help win rite now and in the years to come (Robert Jr) or they can be brought up to help win rite now and in the future so there's multiple ways these prospects can help this team/organization. Remember not all prospects pan out so that has to go into the thinking as well so if the rite deal that makes sense comes along I'm cool with it.

I think Daniel Murphy might have predicted on one of the telecasts that McNeil would really pick it up in the second half, or something to that effect.
Letting Murphy go was the dumbest move ever. He carried the team in the playoffs and then the Mets cheaped out. Great player.

Wouldnt need such a deep bullpen if starters could consistently go into deep innings. Yes Senga is coming back. But... They want to go 6 man to protect Senga. We dont even have a deep 5. Scott is unreliable rookie. Dont trust Peterson to be a playoff pitcher. Manea gives up long balls a lot. A decent starter makes a lot of sense to go into playoffs with keeping Butto in pen and Garrett coming back. A power OF bat would help also. RF is too unreliable. Lets be real, McNeil is not going to continue these homeruns since All star break.

Forget about LUIS ROBERT, JR. He's having an off year and he' s injury prone. SIMPLY, THE METS DON'T NEED HIM. What they need is a starting pitcher and one or two relievers. The only blockbuster deal STEARNS might make is to trade ALONSO and McNEIL, which would be a mistake. CHISUM would destroy the METS' team chemistry.
