IDA HAENDEL PLAYS INFORMALLY Part 2 (2009)

We thought our viewers would enjoy this- an impromptu and very informal performance by Ida Haendel at a Florida social gathering.She recalls and plays excerpts from many violin concertos.. For those who are curious Ms Haendel is 80 and still active giving recitals.

I can hardly believe what I'm seeing and hearing! She is amazing! The sound, the style. She's inimitable. This 1st concerto by Wieniawski is devilishly difficult, so it is rarely played. She tosses it off like it's nothing. She's a genius of the violin, but she's paid an enormous price to play like she does. It's hard, hard work over a lifetime. I hope she is happy and healthy these days. Long live Ida Haendel!
