I’ve taken hustle lessons and no one counts 1,2, 3, 4. When you shifted to and 1,2,3 you did so without explanation.
The moves were fine but, you missed giving some foundation. Leads will get messed with this over time. I know my teacher pounded the and one into me so I danced and didn’t walk or worse drag the follow around.

We agree that the +123 is most common and counting 1234 is more of a casual way to dance it. It is meant to be geared towards beginners to make it easy to learn and anyone able to dance it!

I agree with Nick, to be honest. Teaching beginners who likely DO want to learn NY Hustle to count steps instead of beats and/or think/develop muscle memory in 4 counts is going to hamper their development, imo.
It reminds me a bit of a fellow instructor I knew years ago who thought it was "easier" to teach beginners cha breaking on 1. You can imagine how well that turned out for them when they took any other cha cha class. 😮

Wait that’s called hustle? I thought this was salsa cause is the same move. I was curious what was hustle dancing was, so I looked it up. I know how to dance, but I love dancing and was thinking of joining a few classes just for fun, but I’m sure I can learn something new from them as well 🙂
