- I can see why the Hobie Mirage Outback is the #1 selling fishing kayak in the world! This kayak has been a legend for nearly 20 years and my dream ever since they came out. This is the Maiden voyage of my 2020 Hobie Mirage Outback fishing kayak! This Hobie Outback is a dream come true and is the supreme fishing kayak. The Hobie Outback has everything a fisherman needs and then some. It's super fast in the water... I got mine up to 6 mph! Incredible to fish in and very stable. I was accompanied by my friend Nadeem. We caught some Topsmelt bait and we both caught some California Halibut including my first legal on my new Hobie fishing kayak! I also added a Hummingbird Helix 7 Chirp Mega SI GPS G3 Fish Finder which was an amazing addition! The fish finder metered everything perfect and then some! This is a serious Kayak Fishing beast! In this video, I also candidly share the pain I have gone through in the last year. It hasn't been fun, but making this video was very therapeutic and I am no longer going to wallow in pain! Fish on till the end!

I used to have a Hobie Outback when I lived on Kauai back 2010. I might have to reinvest in one, now that I'm staying permanently in Northern CA. My preference was always artificial like jigs and lures but you're technique to catch smelts then hit the Halibuts are fun to watch :)
Yeah, up there you guys are allowed cast nets... makes live bait easy. Down here it is illegal, which sucks! The new Lightning kayaks are really interesting too. Pretty much an Outback at half the price.

Hahaha 🤣😂😝 no kidding! Such a different ride now. I lost two fish I didn't post... they hauled ass behind the boat and I was screwed! Shallow-water... surrounded by kelp... couldn't use reverse because of the rudder and kelp! Lost both... one was a 20 pounder! 😳🤔🤣😂😝

I love the kayak fishing but too much hassle... therefore the change.
Seems like you have both, which fishing platform do you prefer? How do you choose which one do you use when you go fishing?

Anything that floats will work. 7Bass are top of the line from what I've been told. I'm not crazy about the flat forms, but I've never used one, just seen it. The water will splash on the deck in chop and wind... I would think? I'd get a tube that is not rounded in the front... pointed front pontoon floats. I use the Outcast Fatcat

I sold my Outback... you are 110% right... a pain in the ass unless you have a trailer!

By far the tube! I feel more connected... not sure why? I still have a cheap kayak. I love tubbing!
