The Kaurna people were a hunter-gatherer society who lived in defined territories called pangkarra which were passed from father to son upon his initiation. Pangkarra always had access to the coastline and ran extensively inland. The coastline was essential for seafood hunting and the inland territories provided food, clothing and protection for the people during bad weather. Among their customs was the practice of fire-stick farming as part of a scrub clearing process to encourage grass growth for Emu and kangaroo. The Kaurna were the southernmost indigenous language group to practice chest scarification and performed circumcision as an initiatory rite. Kaurna culture and language was almost completely destroyed within a few decades of the European settlement of South Australia in 1836. However, extensive documentation by early missionaries and other researchers has enabled a modern revival of both language and culture. (Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaurna_p...)

Georgina is a legend in these parts
Her tireless work to bring forth her nations people is to be commended
The work she does with Indigenous children in the area, so they know their history and heritage is remarkable ... She goes into schools to teach all children of the history of our first nations people so these children will grow up with some understand and respect for all people
I live with hope that, one day, racism will be stamped out in this country ... that our children will be better than our parents .. and their children will be better than us
Thank you, Georgina ... for all that you do for your people and ours ... to bring about awareness and change
    From a HEPS mum x

I feel really sorry for the Aboriginal people. Not only did the British colony steal their land from them, but their rights, their self-determination and freedom. History disappoints me to see how much injustices the British and Europeans did in the past, by stealing land, plundering resources of Africans, genocide, unjust killings, making black people their slaves its absolutely ridiculous. In hopes for a better tomorrow
