How about a wider range of track? Curved points, 3-way points, etc.? Much more useful when track planning.
I would suspect more track is already in the works both from Hornby and Peco. Hornby I believe have already mentioned they're working on their own flexitrack and different points and I imagine Peco will want to continue to expand their range as the scale continues to grow. Thanks for watching 😃
I'd also just add that Hornby's TT track system is completely compatible with Tillig's track. Hornby specifically designed their track to match Tillig. If you'd like, Tillig already offers a variety of the products that you mentioned. The one downside is the price, which tends to be more than Hornby. But it is an option.
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy will the Wednesday video only be four TT scale Not OO scale. thanks
I’d like to see a GWR 57xx pannier tank 😁
I think a lot of people would like to see that. Would be very popular and not just with those wanting to model the GWR. Thanks for watching 😃
For me i would like to see a 3f or 4f as a new ser of models. But not straight to fully detailed. They need a tt railroads range with cheaper entry less detailed locos and stock.
Yeah they would fit in nicely with the LMS Princess Coronations too!
Railroad isn't possible in TT:120 (at least not at the moment) since it's made up of Hornby's old toolings that can be produced cheaply. Even if they set out to produce a Railroad detailed loco from scratch it probably wouldn't cost that much less because it's still a brand new model. It's also getting rather close to the "Design Clever" idea they had a while back which went down terribly with everyone so I can't see them wanting to repeat that anytime soon. Thanks for watching 🤩
I agree with other comments - a mixed traffic loco would be ideal and the BR 2MT & 4MT tanks spring to mind - no recent tooling perhaps, but both have a proud history in models by Hornby & its predecessors, and would gently open up the other regions but still be ok in E/NE/SC regional settings. On the E/NE side I personally would love either a BIG 0-6-0 like a J39 (though Bachmann do that in OO) or a Gresley V1/V3 tank - that would make a lovely TT model, with plenty of decoder room!
Both good ideas - the 2MT was recently done by Hornby in 00 so perhaps a TT version isn't completely impossible! Thanks for watching 😃
I'm not a tt modeler myself but I would like to see a bullied light Pacific west country / battle of Britain
Now that would be nice! While they're at it, if they could upgrade the 00 gauge one to today's standards too I'd be very happy. Thanks for watching 😃
As a GWR/WR modeller, I'm really looking forward to the promised Pannier and Castle, but I'd also like to see a Prairie and a Hall.
Diesel wise, a Class 52 Western and a Hymek would be top of my list.
I'd love to see the promised GWR buildings, but they seem to have been dropped in the latest catalogue. The existing platforms would be much better if they clipped together or matched up in height more consistently too.
I'm pleased Hornby have fast forwarded the J50, and I've ordered one, but the loco has little interest for me. I understand the argument about existing computer modelling, but it is such a strange choice, especially given its non symmetrical wheelbase which will restrict chassis re-use.
I suspect when Hornby do get round to some GWR models, they'll go for them in a big way (similar to how they've done the LNER) as there seems to be a lot of demand for it. Did Hornby ever announce GWR buildings in TT:120 though? I know Peco did and I believe those ones are already available.
The J50 was most likely a reaction to customers wanting another small loco in the range. The J50 was probably the easiest thing to get into production quickly where something like a Jinty or Pannier will have to be designed from scratch which is why we won't see those for a while yet. Thanks for watching 😃
I agree mate! A middle sized mixed traffic steam loco would be good for the range
Good to know I'm not alone! Although it won't please everyone I think it's a good idea to really hone in on the LNER for steam era stuff and build that out nicely before moving on to other regions - rather than spreading the range too thin. Thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy A loco I'd really like to see though would be a Terrier...
Black 5s, Castles and large prairies are in the pipeline but I'm guessing perhaps 2 years away.
@@kclassproductions I think it will be a long time before we see tiny locos such as Terriers or Pecketts in TT. It might even need advances in the technology.
@@speleokeir Well it can't be too far away, I've seen small 0-6-0 locos in N scale after all!
@ThatModelRailwayGuy will the Wednesday video only be four TT scale Not OO scale. thanks, It's a big one to ask but love T3 LSWR 563 Green or Y14 in 564 in GER blue get me into TT.
That's a question better aimed at Hornby 😉 Thanks for watching 👍
Honestly I just want to see some Southern representation in the range
If they did one Southern loco now though would that be of much use? I guess you could run it with Mk1s if they were able to do those in Southern Green but it's not really enough to build an entire layout around. I'm not saying they will never do SR or GWR stuff but I think it makes sense to at the moment to flesh out the eras and regions they already have for those wanting to build a semi-realistic layout. Thanks for watching 😃
I definitely agree on something mid-range. But personally would prefer either an A5 or A8 Pacific tank engine.
Both of those would be nice although not models in Hornby's current design lineup. But could prove to be an opportunity for a tandem release in the future where they announce versions in both 00 and TT:120 at the same time... we can but dream! Thanks for watching 😃
Why the preponderance of LNER models?
I’d say it makes sense to focus their efforts on particular eras/areas. A single loco from each of the big four wouldn’t really help those wanting to build a more realistic layout, but an LNER/Eastern region layout is starting to look quite viable.
LNER stuff also tends to be quite popular for Hornby so I’d imagine that’s why they’re leading with it. Thanks for watching 😃
IMO the next "unplanned" loco being LNER is unlikely. I think they will go with another diesel or even up to date electric or possibly Southern region steam.
Possibly, although I was approaching this very much from a steam perspective.
We know they're already working on the Class 37 but given the HST and Class 50 have been so popular perhaps another small shunter could be an option to join the Class 08.
I think it'll be a while before we see Southern steam though unless they go for something like a Terrier. Thanks for watching 😃
Selfishly, I'd like to see some Southern or Great Western locos. Can't help thinking that'll unlock a bigger market than constantly plugging LNER, good though that's been.
A few trackwork additions from Peco would be great, too 👍
I think the logic is to build a consistent set of locos/rolling stock for specific areas or periods rather than spreading the range too thin. Realistically a single Southern or GWR loco isn't going to be much use in the short term while the scale is still getting off the ground.
It's not all about the LNER steam era though. Currently we have the HST, Class 50 and Class 08 all in the BR Blue livery which is the basic of a nice 70/80s diesel layout there. Thanks for watching 😃
@ThatModelRailwayGuy indeed - Hornby had to start somewhere, and LNER is still very popular, so can absolutely see the logic of fleshing out that range.
It's a brave decision to bring TT to market, and I wish them every success with it. Love the scale, and accurate track at long last is a big win for UK modelling.
Both your thinking and suggestions seem to be right on the money. While newly tooled projects like the Austerity and GWR Pannier will come to TT, leveraging the research and designs of the OO versions makes tons of sense. It helps the design process go more quickly and affordably.
I'm suspecting that they'll want to have three locomotive types for each of the big four. Small, medium, and large. LNER is on track to have the J50 and the A1/A3/A4s. GWR will have the Panniers and Castles. And LMS is set to have the Duchesses and Black 5. Getting both the LNER and GWR midsize locomotives and the LMS the small one makes sense.
Yeah I definitely think that's their eventual aim in the long path to having an all encompassing range. And let's not forget this is only thinking about steam era. There's also the diesel side of things to consider along with the more modern image stuff too... and yet people wonder why Hornby can't do it all at once 😅 Thanks for watching 👍
If Hornby were clever a class 20 as they run in pairs and they would sell at least 2 per customer. Class 25 or 26 would make me go TT.
Steam wise mid size locos.
I suspect a lot of more casual modellers would probably just buy one so no guarantee they would sell double... unless they did them as a pack like the HST with one being a dummy. That could be an interesting approach. Thanks for watching 😃
What about the 2mt
That would definitely get a thumbs up from me and ticks all the boxes if they decide to explore the LMS region in the future. Thanks for watching 😃
I do appreciate the complexities and the reality of production, and I am enjoying the recent new locos, but I can’t get excited about anything small, including the existing class 08, until they have a supply of HMDCC encoders, and better still, a factory-fitted sound option.
My understanding is that the current hold up with the 6 pin decoder is sourcing the small enough components needed for it. Model railways are very much a small business when it comes to electronics in the grand scheme of things.
I imagine once they have a standard 6 pin decoder sorted they'll then be able to look into shrinking everything down for a 2nd iteration which could open the door to a possible sound fitted example too. Thanks for watching 😃
J15 would be pretty fire for TT, though I’m still waiting for an OO model in GER blue like 564.
Though I suppose that is what customization is for 😉
I'd love to see a GER blue one in 00 too! I think it would require changes to the tooling to be able to reproduce properly though so sadly I think it's unlikely unless a LOT of people ask Hornby for it. Thanks for watching 😃
A mid size or a tank but as long it is with HM7000 sound !!
That will very much depend on the availability of components and the size of the locomotives. I don't think we want Hornby to scale up the body to fit a sound decoder and speaker inside, but at the same time the HM7000 decoders can (currently) only be so small. Thanks for watching 👍
I would love to see the Class 37 and 55.
The Class 37 is already in the works, they showed some of the design work during their Spring announcement video. We know they're doing a Deltic for the Dublo range so I do wonder if a TT version could be a potential offshoot from that in the future especially as the HST and Class 50 have both been very popular so far. Thanks for watching 😃
Id love to see a br 4mt tank, mid sized, worked almost anyway and lots of good modifications , that or an lswr T3 🤣
Yeah I know what you mean, it really is the sort of thing that could fit into any layout... though I wouldn't say no to the T3 in any scale to be honest! Thanks for watching 😃
I suspect they’re thinking other diesels. The diesels seem to be selling best.
I think that's a good shout too. We know the Class 37 is in the works and they've previously mentioned a Class 47 and Class 31 too. Perhaps another smaller diesel to go alongside the 08... initially my mind jumps to a Class 03 or 04 - but they already have the CAD work for the Sentinels and those could be done in some of the more modern liveries too. Thanks for watching 😃
I suspect a new J94 Austerity in OO will be coming, maybe it will be Dapol's next small tank engine after the GWR 14xx, seeing as they see the need to retool the terrible DJM example.
I'm not so sure as it feels like the market has been flooded with them recently. Hornby were still selling their old Dapol version until very recently, the DJM one has also been available for a while and now has been upgraded by EFE...
While non of these models is the stand out winner I think any manufacturer looking to do an Austerity in 00 would wait until there's been a bit of a break first and the existing models are out of the bargain bins so they can really make a big splash when they announce/release theirs. Thanks for watching 😃
or move away from ECML and get the Black 5 in TT?
It makes sense to focus on the LNER region for the moment rather than spreading the range too thin and not really covering any area/period properly. That said they've already said in their TT roadmap that they plan to make the Black 5 in the future. Thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy I get that, and a Black 5 in BR black could be a ECML fright engine…
I absolutely love the Garratt at the moment but perhaps not for TT….? Anything new here down under would be welcome 🤔
Now that would be something, but yes for TT it's a bit out there at the moment. Heljan did do a Garratt in 00 gauge a while back and I believe they have another on coming in the near future though. Thanks for watching 🤩
I'd love to see a mid-sized engine, maybe a 2-6-0T or similar. But really, I'd love to see something LMS, or SR, or GWR. Why they're focussing so much on LNER astounds me.
I think it makes perfect sense to be honest as they know the LNER is popular with their core audience. With TT:120 being a new scale, instead of spreading everything too thin this approach makes building an LNER themed layout a more realistic possibility. A single SR or GWR loco wouldn't really allow for that. Thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy To be fair, their core audience is statistically far more likely to be pro any other region than LNER; but I get your point that it helps those LNER enthusiasts construct a better layout.
They'll have to widen the net at some point though.
Personally I'd like to see either the Fowler 9f, if they want to keep with LMS, or the Deans Goods if they want to continue expanding into GWR.
Can't say I'm familiar with a Fowler 9F... do you mean the 4F or did the LMS have a 9F before the BR version? Thanks for watching 🤩
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy Yes most likely. I'm terrible with model numbers 🤣
No worries, had me really stumped there for a moment 😅 The 4F would definitely be a good shout for a popular LMS loco - both that and a Jinty would go down very well I suspect.
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy Agreed.
My vote is for LT A60 stock
That would be cool, although I think we'll be waiting a while to see that from Hornby. Thanks for watching 😃
Wouldn't a Black 5 make sense? They were all over the network and surely they have the basic info already.
But yeah a mid sized loco makes sense too. Cheers!
The question was about products they haven't already announced though. Hornby made clear when they launched TT that it was their intention to make a Black 5 later down the line along with a 9F, Austerity, Class 31 and Class 47. Thanks for watching 😃
Hopefully it's better than the oo scale rubbish I sent mine back as it was bent as a banana and couldn't remove the easy to change lamps
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy Ah gotcha.
J15 ticks all the boxes for me.
Good to know I'm not alone on that one! Thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy One of the practical advantages of having an 0-6-0 tender loco in TT120 scale is the tender gives plenty of space for the speaker, powerbank and maybe decoder too.
How about class 47 everyone must have one at least
I think Hornby said that the Class 47 was in their long term plan back when they launched TT. We know that Class 37 is (most likely) up next so after that I imagine it'll be a choice between the 47 and the 31. Thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy we should start pestering acurascale or revolution to do TT they do great OO and N
