First cyborg review I've seen that didn't feel like a sales pitch. Thanks!

I got the cyborg at release and I love it. It is the first gaming keypad I've tried that will finally let me retire my no longer in production Logitech G13. I love that the Azeron has both a joystick and a hat on the thumb. That allows me to control movement with the joy and still associate five different buttons with the hat. To get the most out of any gaming keyboard I think folks really need to do some out of the box thinking about their key layouts and really customize it per game. For example, my dragon age origins layout for my g13, I had only move forward. I could turn left and right with the mouse, or 180 and in that game there was never a need to back up. So a lot of other use functions would go on the asd. To next level my Azeron I got the Rewasd software which has cyborg support and works really really well. This adds the ability to do activators like hold, double and triple tap. So for instance, in RTS type games, to group units by numbers, the number keys I have tap assigned to the number, and hold assigned to ctrl plus the same number. This allows me to do all my unit quick assignments on one key without having to hit a modifier key. It's fabulous. I can also put still needed, but lesser used actions under double and triple tap activators which is awesome. The Azeron cyborg with Rewasd is a really fabulous experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone for PC gaming.

I’ll be getting my cyborg today. And that means my g13 will be safely put away for safe keeping for now… hearing this is a good replacement is great. I do hope that with me getting the cyborg now means Logitech will be releasing a new g13 Tomorrow, lol . If that’s what it toon for it to happen so be it, but look very much forward to the cyborg.

Depends what your goals are, I play most of My pc games with a wireless controller. However joysticks will never come close to the accuracy and speed of a mouse so if your playing a competitive online game I'd just suck it up and learn how to use a mouse. For instance I was in the same boat as you a few years ago, I had just got my first pc and downloaded overwatch. I'm not exaggerating when I say I could barely move and aim at the same time it was so bad It would take all my focus just to walk around and look at things slowly. 2 years later I was masters in overwatch doing 360 headshots on widow ect. I'd say by the end of 2 months you will have decent mouse control. Cheers

I must say that I disagree with quite a lot in this review.
With that said, opinions is opinions and everyone has a right to their own.
I was ranked 2nd in the world in Quake 1 DM and 2-time world champ in TDM,
Super unicum in wot and played FPS games for longer then I wish to admit.
I don't E-brag for the sake of it but more so as a response to the claim that this gives anyone a competitive edge in FPS if you are of high skill.
This unit, I had them all btw, standard, compact and cyborg builds around the notion that movement should be done by your thumb on the stick.
Something that is really compelling, on a reg KB your thumb mostly hover between jumps, now the same thumb can replace the movement of 3 fingers freeing them up to do other tasks.
The problem is that the length (travel) of the stick movement slows down your side strafing, peaking and directional movment changes.
If you strafe left and then want to strafe right you have to make use of the full movement of the stick, half of that movement you will keep traveling in the direction you want to switch from.
On a KB your change is instantaneous because your finger already rests on the button you need to push.
Now I really want this to be as good as you claim, that's the reason I keep buying them.
But so far none of the probably dozen keypads I bought can compete with a good compact gaming keyboard.
I have a couple thousand hours in ESO, and that's a completely different story, love this for that game.
You don't need those extra milliseconds in those kind of games and then it makes much more sense.

Agreed, I’m not even sure a game pad is ideal for MMOs at the highest level. I play Guild Wars 2 pvp, and in my experience, it depends on your class whether easier access to abilities is worth giving up crisp movement. Makes absolutely no sense for an FPS, unless you bind the movement keys to buttons, and use your thumb for something else.

Adding a restrictor ring and a very close deadzones eliminates nearly if not all joystick travel distance, Making movement as or more responsive as a keyboard. Fast paced FPS isn't the kind of games for this thing.
The thumbstick is a hindrance even when using the restrictor ring.
It takes waaaay to long to strafe back and forth or left or right with the thumbstick. Like literally feels like eons compared to just using the keyboard.

Eventually figured out that I had accidentally over-tightened it and that was why I couldn't get a response out of it.

I never tried the classic or compact, but looking at the button layout I think I strongly prefer the cyborg. Being able to tilt the towers is really really nice. My hand if I go as naturally as I want sits at a bit of an angle on the keyboard, so being able to tilt the towers let them match my fingers. Positioning the joystick also looks much more configurable on the cyborg than the previous models. As to the third layer of buttons the only one I find a little awkward for my particular hand is the pinky button, as my pinky rests slightly on the closest button while it is down in the well of the tower. In learning it I've had mis clicks but I think that's more getting used to the sensitivity of the keyboard than anything else. Learning to be lighter with my presses I think actually helps ergonomically in the long run. From what I have read about the previous models I do think the cyborg is an upgrade and I'm happy I got it when I finally decided to splurge on an Azeron after eyeing them for a few years. I happened to luck out and the cyborg came out while I was waiting for my new credit card without foreign transaction fees. Otherwise I would have ordered one of the previous models rather than pre-ordering the cyborg. So I'm happy it worked out the way it did.

At that point, you might as well just use an Xbox controller. The attraction here is combining joystick movement, keyboard button access, and precision mouse aiming.

10:33 What is tilt key? tilde? is it the ~ next to enter or § under esc? Maybe it is the ~ under Your esc? What is the point of this? I don't get it.
    Non important Ramble:
10:19 "..Having said that. LOTS has 72 different quick slots, so you wont be fitting all of them on, at least without ...."
So just like keyboard in any other MMORPG game that is bit older than like WoW, FFXIV or Anarcy-Online?
    Short version:
Keyboard you usually have only 13 keys around WASD which you use with Shift and Ctrl you make it to be 39.
Azuron makes is easier to map Alt to pinkie while normally it is so off the place you wont use it while having 13 keys just for your index, middle and ring fingers.... that is ez 52 keys if you combine this magic ... Tell me how you are gonna keep holding W while also pressing other keys besid Q E R F V C X Z 12345 ?
    Stupid things:
I used to hold WASD with my pinkie while having my other fingers in 3 4 5 7
(Thump was 6 to 9, Index is 5, middle finger 4 and ring finger is 3)
they keyboard was tilted around 45 degress so my hand rested well. I also got G600 mouse to keybind Shift for my right hands ring finger which allowed me to use 1 trough 9 +0 and double my keybindings ... World of Warcraft in combat you never needed more than max 20 keybindings ... Warlock and Mage 1 ability rotations :^)
now days if I used the same grip rotating the keyboard so my hand rest normally having pinkie on W the keys would be W 3 4 5 J ... This is because my hand is bigger and K is the most relaxed position. This would allow me to map keys around J key and using G600 I can double the keys for MMORPG ... OR as I did, I have ordered the Azeron Cyborg :D much simpler idea.

@@notblazedfordays9536 I usually write blindly using the 10 (9?) finger style and I'm used to using WASD.... it will be interesting to transistion to thumbstick :D looking forwards that. I do know that in FPS games like CS GO and Overwatch the performance will be lesser using thumbstick but that is ok.
I'm also used to using all kind of control schemes like Steering wheel, controller, keyboard, some weird numpad thingis for one hand and much more like HTC Vive and Oculus Rift :D I bet it will take longer for me to setup the keybindings as I want than to learn to use it. Logitech G600 has 12 macro buttons for Thump and extra key for right hand ring finger

@@xezzee yea I dabbled with mouse and keyboard for a week but the first PC I got had a bad cpu that got too hot and throttled sooner than it should have. I’m digging my Logitech g502. I like that the scroll wheel can click left and right, that I can bind the dpi up and down buttons, as well as the snipe mode button. I mostly play fortnite so having that third thumb button is huge and I like right and left clicking scroll wheel for lesser important inventory items. Mouse was easy to get used to… can’t say the same about keyboard for gaming. So figured I’d give the cyborg a try as I don’t like having to use 3 fingers for movement
