⁴ᴷ D Trains Running on the A Line

- Weekend construction in the Cranberry St Tunnel and on the Manhattan Bridge led to D trains being rerouted to the A line. After 59th St, all D trains ran on the A line to Chambers St, the last stop. This is a very unusual and rare reroute that does not occur frequently.

14th St. is one of the few remaining stations where express trains come barrelling in. 42nd St. is another. Back in the good old days, roaring into 42nd s/b on the R-10s was almost terrifying.

This must've been messy at 34 St with the D being the only thing on the center platform.

I'm able to sign my R-1/9 signbox for this routing. As a matter of fact, when the D line first opened, it ran to what was then Hudson Terminal.
On a similar note, I witnessed a couple of downtown R trains running on the B/D/F/M lines this morning.
What was the reason for this?, The D train cant get back to its home line south of West 4th st although the D line was the F line many moons ago...please explain....
Wish I was there for that! I only ever need to take this train on weekdays :(

They need to start having D train and Btrain as R106 or R106A
Concourse Yard would go insane if they had anything other than an R68 or R68A

+A.G. bonnie/Rios Maybe not, but it must be done. At least the N (estimated *4* years) is capable of having a partial shutdown without being considerably prohibitive (thanks, wide ROW).
+sonicboy678 The N can be re-routed via West End along with the D trains with shuttle buses serving the closed stations on Sea Beach. The L is unfortunately another matter altogether.

Whenever the D Train Is Suspended From Going Into Brooklyn The Q Train Runs Via The D Line From Coney Island To Atlantic Av Or Sometimes The N Train From Coney Island To Atlantic Av or 36 St

A and D lines are faster than the L and Q
This begs the question: where were the A and C trains? The upper level at 50th Street is only served by the C train and in the video that station looked like there were a lot of people waiting on one of the platforms. Was the C train running a shortened route as well? The A + C trains could've been running to West 4 Street and then they could've changed to the F line for service to Brooklyn. Is that what happened?

+hockeyboss 689 The normal terminal for the D line is Coney Island. However, on the weekend I shot this video, the terminal for D trains on the southern end was Chambers St on the A line.

Nope, at Chambers Street the track layup is as follows at the Chambers Street / World Trade Center Area on the 8th Avenue line:
From west to east:
1st track: Brooklyn Bound A and C
2nd track: Uptown A and C
3rd track: WTC bound E
4th track: Queens bound E

Why is it such a rare reroute?
+fanfig77200 It is very unusual for a D train to be rerouted down the A line, especially to the stations on the A line south of West 4th St. This is because once you pass West 4th St going south, there is no track connection between the A line and the D line for a D train to return to its normal route.
