Awesome video :) My ranking would be this : 1. (Best) The Last Crusade 2. Raiders of the Lost Ark 3. Temple of Doom 4. (Worst) Kingdom of the Crystal Skull I just enjoy Crusade so much more than Raiders ^^'
4. temple of doom ( not bad but not great) 3. Crystal Skull ( underrrated) 2. last crusade ( a bit overrated but none the less good movie) 1. Raiders (masterpeice!!)
1. Raiders Of The Lost Ark 2. Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom 3. Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull 4. Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade
My ranking 1. Raiders of the Lost Ark 2. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade 3. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 4. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Worst is chrystal skull, last crusade, temple of doom and best is raiders. grew up with raiders and temple... me and my cousin always BOTH were Indy because we fought over who would be him and we both had to be him so there were two Indys- I guess they were twins even at one time... we were kids, cmon.
Great video. I agree with you on most of your opinion. The only part I disagree with you on is Harrison Fords performance in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Indiana Jones as a character. I think older Indiana Jones as a character was more realistic than Han Solo when he was older cause Han Solo became what he was in the beginning of the franchise as well as being an absent Father and Husband. Also Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones is always a treat to watch no matter how good or bad the movie is because I feel he loves the role and I can tell he does whenever he plays the character.
4. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (Ruined the franchise with this one word: aliens) (Side note: These next three are near perfection and was hard for me to rank them) 3. Raiders of the Lost Ark (Classic film that will stand the test of time but I think the two sequels surpass it in some aspects) 2. The Last Crusade (Sean Connery is a great addition to the franchise and would've made a great conclusion to the series) 1. Temple of Doom (This movie is usually in the bottom two of the series in rankings. Personally, I like it the best. The movie ups the stakes in it with going from Nazis to Cult Members and I like the darker tone. I don't feel it's too over the top but I think it balances great. There are more iconic scenes like the bridge and mine cart scene. This film is just a fun ride to me and it's so difficult to rank these movies because of the great quality in them [except KotCS])
What Sean Connery said was totally justified, he said that if a woman hits you then you can slap her back. There's nothing wrong with that, it shouldn't matter if they're a woman it's just bad to hit anyone.
Loved your review. Completely agreed with all of it. But there is one thing I have not been able to find anyone comment on, that I feel strongly on. And this is going to sound offensive to some. I grew up with all these films too. I loved them all as a kid, but as I have watched them over and over thru the years. Raiders is simply the best film, but not only that...Harrison Ford IS Indiana Jones in Raiders. In ALL the others, he is playing Indiana Jones. In other words, the first film had nothing to compete against. Harrison was just being Harrison. But in the following ones, it seems he is trying too hard with all the "trust me" type arrogance. He just is so cool in the Raiders and not really trying too hard to impress, but in the following films, he just seems like hes trying to be funny, cute, charming, and it shows. Harrison is the same Harrison in Raiders and in Empire. Both of those are him. Cocky, careless and funny without trying. I think because he wasn't a household name then. After 1981, he started to change. Aware of his cockiness and then has become a caricature of himself. I'm not trying to Harrison bash at all. I think its mostly the Hollywood machine that says "Harrison, do that line, but more Harrison Ford-ish." Sigh. Again, I enjoy all of the films, and I love Harrison in almost everything, but Raiders to me is the hands down best film, not only of the Indy films, but of all time.
They called the ark a radio to god in the first movie, so ark was kind of sci-fi. Also spirits could be some type of sci-fi aliens or holograms. 2nd movies glowing stones could have had a scientific explanation for it instead of a mystical one. Also had mechanical traps in movies that released rock in first movie, caused walls to close in the 2nd one so scientific gadgets.
Indiana Jones Raiders Of The Lost Ark (10/10) Indiana Jones Temple Of Doom (7.7/10) Indiana Jones The Last Crusade (9.4/10) Indiana Jones Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (9.6/10)
Dude if you check out the bonus features that show the making of kingdom of the crystal skull a lot of the negatives are on George Lucas. Apparently he always wanted a fourth Indiana Jones film and tried to get Spielberg on board who at the time thought the series ended fine but eventually he began to support Lucas's ideas. Lucas also came up with the concept of aliens being involved although Spielberg was also against it since he had already done ET and Close Encounters and George doing star wars but again went along with George's ideas
Funny how the same person cut up by the propellor also got squashed to death. The same actor (Pat Roach) appears in all 3 movie. Some costume changes otherwise its the same actor.
Say BHL, any chance you would want to do a Best and Worst of Pirates of the Caribbean? In my opinion, the first one is good, the second and third are okay-ish, and the fourth is kind of like Kingdom.
Something funny is as a kid I FRIKEN loved temple of doom I still do now but not as much as the other two originals but idk why I lived it so much I just remember always saying it was my favorite I think it was because there was more action maybe but seriously I loved it my mom was reminding me and she told me it was because in LEGO Indiana Jones it had the best levels but idk
I did recently watch crystal skull and it’s not AS bad as I thought but it’s still bad. The aliens are the worst but considering the 50’s was deep in sci-fi ideas it kinda makes sense the treasure is aliens
Hey BHL! Thanks for recommending Rick and Morty in your Q and A! just finished Episode 6, here's my question : between Rick and Morty, whose your favourite? (Mine being Rick)
I’m sure no one in the world is going to agree with this comment but temple of doom 10/10 kingdom of the Crystal skull 9/10 the last Crusade 7/10 raiders of the lost ark 5/10
Indiana Jones is not a deep character. He's pretty simple he's what all men strive to be. He's intelligent, sleeps around, punches people etc. Kingdom of the Chrystal Skull took that away. Nobody wants to be old therefore he doesn't feel like Indiana Jones
I remember hearing about crystal skull for years but never watched it until this year actually...... then i was extremely disappointed. I tried to like it but its just so flawed and boring that I just simply cant, there’s a new one in 2022 but they might just keep delaying it
As far as if Pixar made live-action original movies, yeah. As long as they have the same creative team behind them. If you're talking about live-action versions of the films they've already made (Monsters Inc., Up, The Incredibles, etc.) then no, I don't think that would work.
Temple of doom-stunk up the outhouse. Terrible, terrible movie. Mainly because of the female lead. All she did was scream and pretend she was angry. Awful actress. The kid was fantastic. Last Crusade-Sean Connery, what more can I say. Great acting. Touching story-line as it draws Indy together with his dad and explains his LOVE for archeology. Crystal Skull-Great movie as it pulls together the entire series. We learn he is a father, most of the important people in his life are dead, and Marian comes back. Great villians, great use of terrain for impact, and Shia Lebouf should take over the role of Indy in the next film as his son carrying on grandpa and dad's heritage. John Hurt was stellar. And for those that missed it, both of Tom Hanks sons have a part in the movie. One in the cafe scene(hint: the one with the glasses) and the other in the library (asking questions). Raiders-My favorite movie of all time. I have seen it over 100 times. I know all of the continuity mistakes, and I don't care. This film totally altered my movie viewing experience. I, too, went to see it as a lark when it was first in theaters. From the first scene I was hooked. Ford is great, Marian is a great character, Sallah amazing, Belloq great, story line amazing. And the hat?!?!?!? What can someone say? It is a piece of costume that is the most sought after in film history. I have 4. To me Harrison Ford, regardless of how old he is, IS Indiana Jones. Speilberg and Kennedy, and Lucas, and Kasan, have so far knocked it out of the park with 3 out of 4. Yes, some of the scenes are a little out of reality, like going over angel falls in a car, but the great thing is that they tie that act into the storyline as essential. It was part of the map to the site. Also in the fridge there is a brief cutaway to a post of the fact that it is lead lined. But in temple of doom you have the Villain reach into peoples closed chests and pull out their heart and it stays beating? Diving out of an airplane in an inflatable raft and landing fine, then going down waterfalls and a raging river with no paddles? How valid is that BHL?
1. Haven't seen enough bad shows to make a top 10 list. The only really bad shows I've seen are some of the TLC shows (like Honey Boo Boo and that kind of stuff). 2. I haven't really seen any 2003 or 2004 movies that I really dislike or I could say are the worst. Maybe the Cat in the Hat for 2003, although it is a guilty pleasure of mine since I grew up with it
1. The Last Crusade 2. Raiders of the Lost Ark 3. The Temple of Doom 4. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull My personal favorite is The Last Crusade. I don't know if me being Catholic has anything to do with it, or maybe just the fact that I watched it with my father and his father the first time. It's the most spiritual, and I think, the most emotional of the whole series. I don't think I'll cry in any other Indiana Jones movie but I will multiple times in this one. I find myself relating to the characters so much more in The Last Crusade, especially the father-son relationship. I may like Star Wars a lot more, but I dare say this movie has a better father-son arc than the entire Star Wars Original Trilogy combined. It felt personal to me, and I think to my father and his father too. I find it really cool that my father bonded over the Sean Connery Bond films, and then I bonded with them over this film. It hits me very hard now since my grandfather is gone. I'd rank the rest as you'd expect, I suppose. Raiders of the Lost Ark is just the ultimate Indiana Jones classic. It stands on its own, but then again, so do all three of the originals. The Temple of Doom is good. It's definitely my least favorite of the originals as well, though I love Short Round and the segment where they free the slaves. I like The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull more than I like the Star Wars prequels, but MUCH less than The Force Awakens (which I sometimes found myself enjoying just as much as the originals). It might have been better if it had Sean Connery, but I still think The Last Crusade tied everything up perfectly.
Awesome video :) My ranking would be this :
1. (Best) The Last Crusade
2. Raiders of the Lost Ark
3. Temple of Doom
4. (Worst) Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
I just enjoy Crusade so much more than Raiders ^^'
DoujinPixation raiders is better
They're all equally amazing for me for different reasons. If I were to choose one that's the best overall, however, it would be The Last Crusade.

2) The Last Crusade (10/10)
3) The Temple of Doom (8/10)
4) The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (6/10)

Hey BHL, you know how people talk about how Indiana Jones doesn't really affect the plot to Raiders of the Lost Ark?
Yeah, I've heard that theory. I think it's interesting (and I don't really disagree with it). But that doesn't really affect how I see the movie.
#1 The Last Crusade
#2 The Temple Of Doom

I actually liked KOTCS better than TOD
Is it bad to say i never saw temple of doom

Idk why, but I love Kingdom of the crystal skull
