Marquez was not awarded the Nobel Prize for "Love in the Time of Cholera." The Nobel is awarded for a body of work, not for a single novel.

You are right, I was wrong in formulating my thought - he was awarded just after the publication of the work

Have you red Juan Rulfo’s Work? It is brilliant and it inspired García Márquez greatly. I personally really enjoy his novel “Pedro Páramo”

No, unfortunately not. Latin American prose is a huge gap for me, I’ll surely fill it later. Thank you for recommendations

I’d add Absolam, Absolam! if I had to rank my favorites. 100 Years of Solitude, Beloved, and Remains of the Day would also be on that list. Probably better add Dr Zhivago, and every poem by William Butler Yeats and TS Elliot.

Yes, there are surely more than 10 books by NP authors, that are worth reader’s attention. I tried to put Pasternak or Brodsky on the list, but decided to make another video about them next time

@@miketyulpakov I'd love to see that Video, or one about Solzhenitsyn. Out of curiosity, how is Solzhenitsyn's writing regarded in Russia? I think it's generally well received in the west, or it was, but I've not really heard what Russians think of him.

A nice list! But you left out:
_The Gulag Archipelago_ and _Cancer Ward_ by *Alexandr Solzhenitsyn* (Nobel 1970, in literature)
_Secondhand Time_ by *Svetlana Alexievich* (Nobel 2015, literature)
_Malone Dies,_ _Waiting for Godot,_ and _Watt,_ by *Samuel Becket* (Nobel 1969, literature)
_Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!_ and _The Feynman Lectures on Physics_ by *Richard Feynman* (Nobel 1965, physics)
_The Nature of the Chemical Bond_ by *Linus Pauling* (Nobel 1954, chemistry; also 1962, the Nobel Peace Prize)
_Man and Superman_ by *George Bernard Shaw* (Nobel 1925, literature)

That is a good list. I am currently reading Halldor Laxness’ Independent People, beautiful prose but I occasionally have to pause and take a deep breath. J.E. Coetzee now identifies as Australian which I find interesting as his work to me is quintessentially South African. Disgrace was a fine novel indeed. I have read some on your list but there are always more books to read!

Yes, there are always are. I’m currently reading “Moon Witch, Spider King” by Marlon James and wonder why it is not as famous and popular as “Lord of the Rings” or “Game of Thrones”

I found interesting the recurrence of a Latinamerican writer. Are There other writers/books that you’d recommend from there?
I’m currently reading “The time of the hero “ (La ciudad y los perros) by Mario Vargas Llosa and it’s really an amazing book!

Hey! I have a few recommendations you might want to check out:
Juan Rulfo (everything he wrote, but Pedro Páramo especially)
      Borges (Ficciones)
José Emilio Pacheco (las batallas del desierto)
Mario Benedetti (Pedro y El Capitan)
      I hope this helps!

@@marcosmontes3198 Ahhh, entonces tal vez te interese Carlos Fuentes?

      P.s: Soy Mexicano, jaja. Saludos!
