    Wondering how to fly drones in controlled airspace? Drone pilots need to know how to get instant airspace authorizations through the LAANC portal of the FAA, with limited systems in place. This video goes over the different apps to get airspace approval. If an airport does not have LAANC capability for instant airspace authorization, how can a pilot obtain airspace authorizations? The answer is with a WAAS authorization through the FAADroneZone. This video showcases the process of acquiring approval from either system.

    Thank you for all the information very detailed video. I am thinking of getting into drones. I am considering a DJI Mini (249 grams) I don't intend to fly near any airports although I may want to fly in a park as I live less than .5 miles from one. I do not have a pt 107 license. Where can I fly without permission and can I get permission without a pt. 107 license? Do I need to still request permission through LAANC? Thanx robert.

    HELP! I'm a newbie with a new DJI Mavic Mini. Can some explain what exactly I can do with under 250 gram devices that heavier drones cannot? I went an got my drone FAA registered and have the ID now on my drone. So what can I not do under 250 grams? What can I do now that I have my drone registered?

    I noticed the app ask if you're 107 certified. I am a hobbyist that does not have the 107 certification. Is the LAANC available to Hobbyist?

    What if you are flying near a rural airport with no tower, and it is not in the LAANC system? I have a job coming up, but it is 4.7 miles from a tiny rural airport. I cannot see where there is any way to get LAANC approval, or if a waiver is even necessary unless the 5 mile rule applies even to tiny dirt strip airports. Visualize it shows nothing in the area.

    Is there a decent mobile app for getting instant access? Kittyhawk doesn't work anymore for LAANC auth?! (i'm probably doing something wrong, seems like these UAS service suppliers keep changing things, like free membership to paid? Please comment if you see this

    What about LAANC authorization in the 0 ft area near an airport? I want to bid on a job that's about 1 mile west of Fort Worth Alliance (AFW), and is in D class airspace covered by LAANC, with 0 ft ceiling. The job description says "Airspace Waiver in-hand is a must for this hire", and they want it to be flown at 199' AGL. But the FAA says don't even try to use waivers for LAANC covered areas. What do? Actually last November I tried using Skyward for a golf course in 0 ft LAANC space just south of DFW airport, and never got a response, so I'm skeptical that this is even possible without some kind of inside knowledge.

      Call your FSDO and explain your situation, and the controlling agency. ATC and the FSDO may clear you into the airspace if you are operating outside of times they have landing IFR traffic. If you have foreflight, look at the approaches into the airport. If the area your wanting to work in are not inside any of their approaches, make them aware of it. The more you know and the more they know that you know the more likely they are to work with you. If you have no clue what your doing, their just going to shut you down.

    ArcGis is NOT a web site. It’s ESRI ‘s GIS mapping software, a mainstay of the GIS industry.

    • @VicMossPhotography

      People routinely call that FAA site "ArcGIS". Sort of like people routinely call facial tissue "Kleenex". It's not used as a technical term in this case.

      I admit wrongdoing. I forgot that ESRI has ArcGIS Online, because it's not been a big part of my experience in GIS. I apologize for the error.

      Last I checked Kittyhawk ONLY works on IOS for LAANC. Not on android. Not sure if this has changed but it might be your problem.

    i just heard about this and am helping my grandson who i gave my drone to. i realize this for now is just 107 but have noticed something with the apps. i live on the NW side of town and there are 2 airports SW and SE of here and i am about a mile outside both of the 5 mile radius but my B4UFLY app shows i am within the 5 mile radius of 3 hospitals with helipads. so the LAANC system dont show the hospitals. since we are flying under 336 we are just going to keep doing it the way we have been and see whatever comes up down the road but i am still wondering why these apps like kittyhawk and airmap dont show the hospital helipads.

      Look in skyvector at the VFR sectional map for your area. You should always start there not on some new unknown app that is full of bugs.

    I submitted the request and i got a message thats says "Issues Requesting LAANC: The following issues need to be resolved before a request can be made - pocPhoneNumber may not be null". What does that mean? Is there something I did wrong?

    • @malloyneil40
      @malloyneil40 Год назад

      You did not put in your phone number. poc= point of contact. You can't ever try and make any kind of flight plan without them having a way of contacting you. This is for drones and a Boing 737.
