If, one day, after I am gone, my children see this comment ... be happy... be loved.... be cherished. This song is one of my favorites. I have listened to it a hundred times and every time in recent memory I think how lucky I am and how much I love each of you. This is my time capsule. I hope you find this one day. Papi
1984, my wife was divorcing me. With a child of 6, I would listen to this song at night over and over again. With tears in my eyes, I would never stop loving her then or now. Only at her funeral, would I realize 32 years would not have stopped my love and feelings for her. If only we could just go back for a day, week, or even an hour. You never know how much those moments mean until they are gone forever.
In the early days of our relationship, my wife and I listened to this song a lot. When we first met she wasn't too much of a Springsteen fan (unlike me), but she really liked this song and grew to like more of his music. I always thought this was one of Bruce's best and very underrated songs. After 30 years of marriage to my beautiful Gail, she died suddenly in 2020. When I hear this song now, it moves me to tears in a different way because of that. This is what makes a great song: it can be heard and interpreted in different ways at different times in your life, and still move you the way it did way back when. I love you forever, Gail. And thanks for writing such a timeless song, Bruce.
This was mine and my boyfriends song as well…it was the last song we listened to before he passed away on 3/30/23…he came all the way from the West Midlands in England to “grow old with me”….we only got 6 months and 3 days together…I wouldn’t trade them for all the money in the world♥️ wishing you love and healing….death is not the end for you and your wife…she’s waiting♥️
The song, "I’ll Drive All Night," by The Boss reminds me of Claudia. "I swear I'll drive all night again just to buy you some shoes And to taste your tender charms Cause you've got, you've got, you've got my, my love girl . . . I swear I'll drive all night Through the wind, through the rain, through the snow . . . " Once upon a time, for seven years; most every poem I wrote, most every letter I wrote & some that never got sent, thoughts every day, wishes all the time, & hopes that eventually died; were all for her. Once, I did drive through the night, through the rain, & through the fog just to see her one more time. Once, I walked 200-miles & stood before her door with heart pounding, nerves cracking, knees shaking, & an arm so weak knocking on her door was a chore. Every time I hear this song, I always think of her. Now I don't move so good no more, but . . .
Had never really listened to any Springsteen before enlisting in the Navy back in January 1980. After boot camp I was sent to Philly for further training to be a welder. One of my roommates was from Asbury Park NJ. He turned me on to Bruce and I've been a fan ever since. My favorite artist of all time.
It's 1982 and I'm seeing Bruce live for the first time....every time I hear him...and wow...he only get's better with age doesn't he? May God grant you a long, long life Bruce...you're the Boss, man, you're the boss......
I'm absolutely agree ... The Boss.... He's de Boss.... on and off stages...!!!☺️🥰 I was fall in love with his music in 1990, when I was a teenager at the high school...❤️ I'm still in love with him today....and I love his music....🎼🎵🎶🎸🎹🎷🥁🎻 He's the One...!!!🤗
Never really a favourite tune then I saw him in Turin in 2009. This summed up my feelings at the time like Bruce knew what I was thinking. Grazie boss.
The Best Line… my Wife still tells our children how I Bought Her a Pair of Shoes that She Wanted…. ❤️ 45 years later… it’s still True. I Love Her So Much ❤️
One of the best performances I've EVER seen of this beautiful ballad done at MSG in 2009... Just wanna buy you some shoes. R.I.P. to the great BIG MAN. You will forever be missed.
I caught a smidgen of this tune in the Adam Sandler Don Cheadle Movie Reign on Me, Now it’s one of my wife & I favorite Tunes, Even the Big Man working on that Sax with the Boss Man’s unique sound make this a wonderful Song.
I gotta say, the howl on "heeeeaaaaaart and soul" (which has always been my favorite bit of the song) is more beautifully primal and raw in the studio version. That's a small complaint though, this is of course still amazing.
Llevo muchos años escuchando y viendo el video de esta impresionante canción. Y después de miles de veces...no me canso y tengo que volver a disfrutarla.
I have to agree , Jungleland performance is up there on top of my best songs of all time. The big mans sax gets my spider sences tingling like a MF. Still after 42 yrs. Same as the sax of The all time greatest Pink Floyd.
One of my fav songs.....so much heart and soul.....more than their other songs...or most of...glad they still had Clarences then in 2005....he was literally a `big`loss in 2011...

Oh my God.... What a performance.. What a band. Truly THE BOSS. Thank you for the memories Bruce. I never saw you play live.. and man.... That is truly my loss. Greetings from Sydney Australia
The band were on-stage, but staring at me framed in the doorway. And maybe that did make Bruce a little nervous because I just said, "I want to play with your band," and he said, "Sure, you do anything you want." The first song we did was an early version of "Spirit In The Night". Bruce and I looked at each other and didn't say anything, we just knew. We knew we were the missing links in each other's lives. He was what I'd been searching for. In one way he was just a scrawny little kid. But he was a visionary. He wanted to follow his dream. So from then on I was part of history. Big Man
what a version i have this on cd (got it from some bloke on the net the whole concert) but this song id the stand out one from that night,. absolute class! bruce i love you man thanks for all the happy memories and keep em coming!!

Called our son: Bruce! Hope someday he finds out what I found in Bruce's songs. Especially this one.

R.I.P. Big Man. This is my favourite sax solo and has been for a lot of years. Enjoy the big jam in the sky Clarence

A beautiful love song. So simple. Drive all night just to buy you some shoes and to taste your tender charms. Love.
