  • A very normal week of a mum on maternity leave in the UK, it may feel a little like groundhog day sometimes, but that is exactly what motherhood is most of the time! I'm very much enjoying finding beauty in the mundane!

A lot of people are suggesting seeing an osteopath or chiropractor which I would 100% recommend! I’ve had lower back pain for years and after pregnancy it just got so much worse, then carrying a toddler was something else. Seeing a chiropractor will 100% help and honestly changed my life. 🥰

You should absolutely try going to an osteopath alongside the physio, I know it gets pricey but it's been so worth it for me. I had awful PGP during pregnancy and for 2 years after until I got pregnant again! I did physio with a specialist women's physiotherapist, an osteopath for releasing all the tenseness and saw a chiropractor to realign everything. I thought that was just how life was going to be post-partum, in pain from the smallest movements and struggling to go up and down stairs but after seeing the 3 specialists in my 2nd pregnancy I no longer have any pain I'm now 5months PP (for 2nd baby) and it's amazing. Pilates exercises are the ones I found most impactful (from the physio and actual Pilates teachers)

Really enjoying how realistic your vlogs are. My two were so similar with weaning and weren’t ready until they were older than the recommend age. They still only eat finger foods and my youngest will never let me spoon feed him. It literally takes all day to do the prep, eating, clean up cycle 🤦🏼‍♀️

I have a 3.5 year old boy who is like an actual tornado, and a 7 month old baby girl who does not like to nap anywhere but on me and has been waking up sooo much through the night for the last 2 weeks. Watching you say similar honestly makes me feel so much better 😅 feel like I could crawl into a hole and sleep for a year but we can do this!

7:38 🤭 I felt this noise to my core 😂 unloading the dishwasher and putting away clean laundry are legit some of the worst jobs! Takes me a couple few business days in my mind to come to terms with putting clothes away…. And a lot of this noise/ stamping my feet 😂

Omg it’s just non stop isn’t it hahahaha, I’m so over it 😂😂 the grind is real 😅
I have SO much washing on my bed right now and I know full well it won’t be put away until everyone runs out of underwear 😂😂

Hearing you talk about your pregnancy experience and pain, I feel that! I'm just coming up to 3 months PP with my first, and my pregnancy was NOT it. I had (and still have) the bad hip pains, I haven't been able to sleep on my left side for 7ish months now due to pain, I was referred to the physiologist during pregnancy for one session, but nothing since! Then I had really bad carpal tunnel and constantly woke up with dull, throbbing pains in my dead arms and completely numb finger tips, the feeling only recently came back fully!
I always feel guilty for saying how much I hated pregnancy, but it just really wasn't a fun experience due to the level of pain or discomfort I was always in

I’m 5.5 months pp and last week googled pp joint pain to see if it was a thing. I knew about relaxin in pregnancy but didn’t know about the continued affects afterwards. My hips are OK (ache after a moderate walk) but my hands, wrists and knees are so painful. My hands are so bad in the mornings I struggle to undo the poppers on my baby’s sleep sack. I was wondering if pregnancy had depleted the calcium in my bones and accelerated arthritis or something. I feel about 90 years old 😂

Leave finger food bits on her tray. A lot of my friends babies didn’t like being spoon fed. Start with soft brown bread fingers. Give it a go 😊

Thank you! Brown bread toast is a winner for us sometimes!! Finger foods are hit and miss too, but we’ll keep offering everything and see where we get to!

Have you tried the Bibado bibs? They’re an absolute life saver because they attach to the high chair so all you need to wash is their hands and face - their body but also their legs are clean!! Plus less is dropped on the floor, and you also don’t need to clean the seat of the high chair. Pricey but so worth it especially if you get them on a 3 for £30 deal x

Hi Shan, so sorry to hear you’re experiencing postpartum hip/joint pain :( I had it too so totally get how horrid it is! You’ve probably already tried this, but just in case you haven’t - what ended up helping me was sleeping with a pillow between my knees whenever i slept on my side. It turned out side-sleeping without support there was aggravating the problem for me! Really hope it gets better for you xx

Have you tried bibado bibs for the weaning mess ? I found these helped and I just stuck them in washing machine . I started to give my daughter what I was eating - because it made me eat something healthy, could prep it all at once. She’s 2 now and is a pretty good eater - I found the weaning prep a lot and one day just decided right she can have what I have 🥰 helped a lot - obviously making it baby safe 😍 I know you have done this all before and know your stuff ❤

Morning… love your videos. I think it’s time to get a sleep trainer to help both you and George. I used one for my grandson. It took four nights and he now sleeps 7pm to 7am. Just an idea.

Don’t take naproxen without omeprazole (if you aren’t already) they’re not good for your stomach (a lot of GPs forget to tell you that). I’m going through the same thing it’s awful. Hope it eases for you soon xo

Hey Shan, have you tried acupuncture? I was a professional dancer before kids and suffered a few different injuries one particular in my pelvis and I found acupuncture to be an absolute game changer. Maybe something to consider xx

You need a chiropractor not a physio! 6 weeks and I was fixed! Now just maintenance appointments every 3-4 weeks.

I'm not one who tells others what to do. Just wanted to share with you that most of my pregnancy and post birth aches were improved by gentle Yoga, and switching to barefoot shoes (not the prettiest, but hey ho, at least I'm not in pain).
    Good luck.

I'm so sorry you're in such pain :(
I remember your videos back in the day when George was weaning. All the blueberry pancakes you were making and then cleaning up after George demolished them 😅 I did purees with my first one and I think I'll try the same with my second when we get there 🤗
Loved this vlog just one question: can Ash help with the pulling out the bin and maybe with the weekly shop? It looks like you are doing absolutely everything around the house.

    • @daisybashton
      @daisybashton 5 месяцев назад

I thought the shame thing, seems like you're doing so much, no wonder you are in pain! Why's Ash not doing his share? Mat leave doesn't mean domestic slave, it means you are looking after the kids during work time- and actually you are still working on youtube (I mean I would have been sleeping while baby sleeps if I'd no nightime sleep, not working!). You need to be 50/50 domestic tasks and childcare tasks in evening/weekends because otherwise it's so unmanageable! You're a team, working together is the only way to survive the early years! Then you will have the time to concentrate on supporting Halle's development, take her to groups etc.

Please be careful leaving Halle on the bed. I once taught a child who had sustained a brain injury by rolling off / lunging herself off a bed at the same age ❤

    • @HomeWithShan

Definitely!! I remember the first time George fell off the bed, it was so scary. But Halle isn’t mobile yet and is right in the middle of our super long bed surrounds by pillows so couldn’t escape just yet! When she’s mobile then it will be very different! ♥️
