    9:01 lucifer is most attractive and it affects even men. He also reflects people's desires and he's a playboy and helped a lot of people to become rich or famous ( deal with 😈)

    Lovin' your reactions. I do like your discussions.
    Part of the mythology around God and Lucifer is that Lucifer led a rebellion of angels against God (the war Amenadiel alludes to); think of a very turbulent parent/teenager relationship. As punishment God assigned Lucifer the "chore" of reigning over hell and punishing sinners. His followers in the rebellion became demons. As this became more of a mainstream myth in the Christian religion, it evolved into Lucifer "recruiting" souls to Hell by tempting people to "do" evil and thus was evil himself. The premise of this show is that Lucifer is not evil, nor is Amenadiel purely good; they are just a "higher" lifeform with potential for good and/or evil, even both at different times. We use the label of angel for those we view as "good" and demon for those we think of as "bad". So the concept presented is that Lucifer is merely the "warden" of hell with demons being his minions to dispense torture. So are the warden and guards for a prison responsible for causing felons to commit their crimes?

      @Warrior2910 3 года назад +6

      Just one thing to add . I don't know about the mythology but in the show demons are not followers of Lucifer in the rebellion or anything. They were wardens of hell and when Lucifer was banished to hell he became their king. And btw Dan shot Malcolm because Malcolm spotted Chloe and was going to kill her. To save Chloe, he shot Malcolm.

      Lucifer didn't rebel against God until the order for him to leave Heaven was given. He was made by god to be perfect. He believed he belonged in heaven with his family. God's plan was for Lucifer To do the one thing that none of the other angels could do. Lucifer didn't see it that way. To be cast out of his home and away from his family. That's why Lucifer rebelled.

      @@killademonics7260 maybe in the mythology. In the show it's the other way round. Lucifer rebels and then God decides to send him to hell

      This is the DC Comics version of the Devil although he is drawn to look like David Bowie in his first appearance in the Sandman comic looking androgynous and later in his own series he left Hell and ran his bar Lux. The show is loosely based on the book much like the old CBS series snout the Incredible Hulk.
      There is much creative liberty taken in the comic thus the show has done the same. The spirit of the series is still the same Maze and Lucifer but there are many differences. Amenadiel is different and Lucifer’s relationship which is more that of a different sibling in the book. I say this to say don’t get caught up too much in the differences and that is by design. This series is more amazing than I can ever express to you. Just know this rollercoaster has six seasons the last has not been released yet as it is in post production with no release date but trust me you need to hold tight as you become complete Lucifans.

    Ladies: Dan shot and "killed" Malcolm.. Chloe was there when they met and Malcolm saw her and wanted to shoot her: you see him pull his gun, then Chloe leans back and Malcolm gets shot by Dan who she could not see! But Malcom just revealed that Dan shot him so he must have been there!

    Lucifer isn't and wasn't evil. Amenadiel was trying to make him "desire" his wings, and therefore desire to return to Hell. It had nothing to do with evil. The whole Lucifer story is one of misunderstanding.

    Et Tu, Doctor?- Thank you both so much once again for another reaction for Lucifer! I really enjoy this episode overall, although I will admit that this is one of my least favorite episodes within season one. At least in regards to the main cheater therapy case itself, whereas the background stories going on with each of the characters is certainly really interesting. There is a lot of good going on with a number of the characters that I really love, but the overall case most certainly is pretty weak in comparison to most others. I don't care much for the case at all, aside from it helping to develop Lucifer's jealousy and to help bring Linda more into this show's overall story, other than for the show to use her simply as Lucifer's therapist and sex partner.
    Now, as for the title of this episode being Et Tu, Doctor?... it comes from one of Shakespeare's most famous plays, Julius Caesar, and is taken from one of its most famous lines... "Et Tu, Brute", spoken by Caesar to his General and closest friend once he betrays Caesar, when Brutus and a number of other traitors stab him over and over until Julius Caesar is dead. The words from both the title and when spoken by Lucifer, are a question simply meaning, "Even you?" It's a meaning spoken when one feels betrayed, just as Lucifer felt betrayed by Linda when she turned on him and sided with Chloe, then again felt betrayed in the end by Maze as well. I really love this.
    I love how every episode title is always name dropped into each episode except for in the Pilot, and that about 90% of the titles are spoken by Lucifer, while the rest are spoken by one of the other characters. Brilliant!
    As for the episode itself... I really like how this is Lucifer's first experience with feeling jealousy, which is his only real reason as far as he knows for disliking Dan, and why he continuously calls him Detective Douche. Because he's worried about Chloe still possibly being in love with him and that they may wind up getting back together, when he's come to be drawn to her himself even though he doesn't understand his feelings for her either.
    Now as for Dan... I really like his character overall, because I love the intrigue as to why he shot Malcolm now that we know it has been him all along, and before I loved the intrigue into why he kept trying to keep Chloe from investigating further into the Palmetto case. Also... you can tell that he really cares deeply about Chloe and their daughter no matter what comes of their marriage. Although, Dan has definitely made some big mistakes with Malcolm and whatever his involvement with Malcolm is. Dan wound up shooting Malcolm at Palmetto Street for reasons unknown at this point, while Malcolm then shoots his partner, Detective Anthony Paolucci, and makes it appear like he had committed suicide in order to help cover up the truth about what really happened at Palmetto Street. And now... Dan is unfortunately caught between a rock and a hard place, because Malcolm is looking to want to keep working with him, and Dan is afraid of the truth coming out. Not just because he's afraid of what Chloe and his daughter will come to think of him, but because he's ashamed of his involvement, and also because Malcolm has now threatened his relationship with his family, and their lives. While Dan is definitely a douche for being so much more involved in the Palmetto case than we ever suspected him to be until now, a part of me does still feel for him a little bit. Because I suspect he has deeper reasons for doing all he's done.
    As for Dan encouraging Chloe to trust her instincts and to keep working to solve this case as he does in the previous episode, until the last episode... Wingman, Dan has been trying to encourage her to leave the case alone like everyone else, mostly to protect her. And I do believe this. However, upon seeing Chloe's determination to solve the mystery, especially with Malcolm almost dying in the end of the previous episode, Dan has come to realize that he has to show Chloe his support if he doesn't want to push her away, or if he doesn't want her to push him away should he deny her his help and support.
    Next... I really love how Lucifer makes it possible for Linda to become involved with them in their case. Him sleeping with the judge to get her to sign off on Dr. Martin is wrong and I don't condone his actions in the slightest, but the moment between them is funny. And I just love how Linda is able to give Lucifer and Chloe the information they need to help them figure out who all might be involved.
    I also love how Chloe and Linda come to an understanding between one another, and that by getting to know Chloe more so, it allows for Linda to see a new insight into Lucifer's struggles so she can continue to help him. And in so doing, Linda also realizes that she no longer wants to sleep around with him because she no longer wishes to go against her ethics she knows she's broken. Linda really does care about helping her patients, and she's especially invested in trying to help Lucifer because she's come to care for him as a close friend. This episode has certainly given me a greater appreciation for Linda.
    And I also really appreciate that Lucifer also understands respects Linda's wishes, because he is a good guy and he would never intentionally hurt anyone he cares about.
    One of this show's major themes is seeking redemption, and by Linda getting to know Chloe and Lucifer more so, it allows her to seek out redemption for herself. And while Dan is caught in the middle of something bad, and we don't know just how involved he truly is just yet, we still see that there's a part of him longing for redemption too. Or at least I do.
    Also... I love that this episode begins with Lucifer celebrating what he's come to make his re-birthday, as a celebration of finally being freed of his father's and brother's hold over him, which is what he saw his wings to be. And I love that Chloe comes to LUX to offer him a special drink as a gift to celebrate with him, even though she brings Dan along and can't stay for more than a few minutes. It's interesting to me that in this scene, in spite of their banter and coldness towards one another, that Dan actually appears to be happy about being there when he drinks to Lucifer with Chloe. Until that jealousy rises up in both Lucifer and Dan, especially in Lucifer when Chloe leans in to hug him before she and Dan leaves LUX, then later leans in to hug Dan at Paolucci's crime scene to offer Dan comfort.
    As for Lucifer learning the lesson Linda has tried to help him with about his jealousy through his and Chloe's case... I really felt that there was really no closure with this part of the storyline. I mean... when Lucifer confronts and figures out who the killer is, it appears like he's figured out that he really is jealous towards Dan because he cares about Chloe, and yet, he still strangely refuses to admit it. Outside of him coming to realize that he wants Chloe to see him like he wants her to see him. As something more, outside of what she sees on the surface. Of course it shows that he's just in deep denial towards his feelings, because he doesn't know how to deal with his emotions because they're all new for him. Although... it also appears he is joking around with Chloe a little in the ending about having come to terms with his jealousy, so perhaps he isn't so much as denying he's jealous, but that he is simply choosing to suppress it instead. And I can certainly understand that.
    Also... this case does help him to understand the feeling of jealousy more by the end, enough to help him recognize that Maze told Amenadiel about Linda because she had become jealous that Lucifer was changing from being the Devil she wants him to be. And I do like and appreciate that too.
    In spite of the green screen special effects looking really bad and more so than I've ever seen in any other episode... I love the scene on the roof between Lucifer and their first suspect who is about to kill himself, and how Lucifer actually helps the suspect find the will to go on living inadvertently. This scene was quite funny. And I love how cocky Lucifer is with him too.
    And lastly... I love that Lucifer is able to figure out the truth about Amenadiel being Dr. Canaan by the end through Linda, then how he confronts Maze upon realizing that the only one who could have told his brother about the doctor was her. It's interesting to see Lucifer turn against Maze, upon feeling betrayed yet again by his protector too.
    Overall... a solid episode, where the characters are once again what makes this show so good. I enjoy this episode, and I especially enjoyed watching your reaction for it. So thank you, my friends! I can't wait for more!!! So until next time...
    Sincerely,
    Heidi

    This show uses a rather novel theory of _demonology._ By and large, Christianity is split between two theories about the origin of demons:
    1.) Demons are the _fallen angels_ who joined Lucifer in his failed rebellion and were cast out of heaven alongside him.
    2.) Demons are the _disembodied spirits of the Nephilim_ whose bodies were destroyed in Noah's flood. (The _Nephilim_ were the hybrid offspring of angels and human women.)
    Maze eventually gives us a third option.

      Lilith is in the Torah, Talmud, and Midrash.
      She is basically the first woman created WITH Adam in Genesis 1:27
      And the demons are Adam's children he had with her before Eve was created from his rib in Genesis 2:22

    There are no earthly rules. Angels are all about doing what they are told without question. Lucifer is supposed to be in hell and amendial being the warrior angel, he assumes its his duty to make sure lucifer is supposed to be doing what he's supposed to which is ruling hell. That's it. There is no other reason than that. Amenidial also believes that he's justified in his manipulations because he believes he's doing the right thing by getting lucifer to go back. Angels only know what they know or were told while they exist in heaven.

    Tier 1: God (life) --> Death (Horseman)
    Tier 2: Michael --> Lucifer
    Tier 3: Angel--> Demon

    I really enjoyed your pre-reaction discussion, notably regarding the "ranking" of celestials you attempted @4:30.
    Here's your answers, in a nutshell...
    - First, above all else, is God.
    - Then, the Angels (of which both Lucifer & Amenadiel are Angels...each with different abilities & responsibilities).
    - Next are the Demons, who are the "Children of Lillith" (according to certain Abrahamic Texts) that fought alongside Lucifer in his failed uprising & currently serve in Hell.
    - Finally, there are the Humans.
    Hope this helps.
