Maybe "you have 99 reasons why we shouldn't be" is a reference to "99 cent store" that was going to come after Toy Chest (Obviously if they hadn't been scrapped).
Also, why wouldn't Mel put 100 instead of 99 reasons? It is a very possible reference

Might as well listen to them. Her unreleased songs are so good, I just don’t think Melanie would hate us for appreciating her art even though they’re not released by her record labels.
