Have you ever wondered how honey is extracted from honeycomb? Whether you're a fan of honey or a beekeeper yourself, have a look at my tutorial on how I harvest honey from my own hives. In this video, I show how I uncap the honey, then spin the honey out with an extractor, filter the honey, allow it to settle, and then bottle it up in jars. I keep two colonies of 'British Black' honeybees on the Isle of Man and share more info on extracting honey here: lovelygreens.com/how-to-extra...

When you can watch hours of honey harvesting videos but cant study for 5 minutes
Monk Skunk ADD
That’s the problem with education nowadays: Forcing people to study topics that don’t kindle your passion for something. I could fall asleep watching or reading stuff like this about bees and honey because it’s peaceful and interesting - but I’ll fall asleep during class because, really - nobody gives a damn if e=Mc^2, lol
its a freaking pandemic
💯💯
100%
I only watch this cause it's satisfying to watch lol
+Rose Gold I thought I was alone
Now I understand where mind your own bees wax comes from

This is probably the most thorough yet concise presentations of honey extracting I've yet come across. It makes sense to leave the most of the integrity of the honeycombs for the bees to replenish the combs faster. Nicely done!
When I went to Mexico I bought honey from a local bee farmer, It was the most amazing honey I'd ever tasted... And the comb was so soft and fun to chew on! I had actually bought it from him on harvest day too. It was in a part of Mexico where a lot of people butchered their own meat, harvested their own crops and sold them on the street daily. The thing I wasn't too pleased about eating there, was street pig intestine... Blech!
You know what they say though! The best things come from nature
Agreed.I ❤ honeycomb!
Eating anything from a pig is disgusting. Almost everyone is familiar with the phrase, "you are what you eat", but for some reason people don't seem to connect the dots when it comes to pork. Pigs are one of the most sleaziest, filthy disease ridden animals God ever created and yet they serve a purpose. However they are certainly not meant for human consumption and is also why God instructed us not to eat them. I remember as a child watching a pig go through the slaughtering process at a slaughter house and as they were hanging the pig, I remember watching the trichinosis worms come out of the meat. As to the reason why you're instructed to always cook pork really well. But once you understand what a pig actually eats and why they're such a filthy disgusting creature, it amazes me folks still eat pork products. Yum yum you are what you eat... And folks wonder why we have the health issues of today

I have 2 bottles from Mexico with the honeycomb. But how can I separate some for certain recipes with no honeycomb?
Wonderful Tanya, I remember helping my Dad do all this when we lived in Northampton in the 1970's, but our extractor wasn't electric, it was my job to turn the handle to extract the honey :-)
I actually enjoy her videos. Very informative for a new bee like me.
Nice to know that honey lasts so long. Thank you for showing us how to extract the honey.
That's a nice extractor. Mine only allows for 4 frames at a time. With 4 four hives containing two supers each, it takes me an entire day to expect my honey. That's why I'm considering buying one of these flow hives because the amount of effort and work it takes at the end of the season is enormous and I know I could probably get several harvests but just don't have the energy to do it by myself several times throughout the year.
Through studies on honey some time ago. It has been reported that honey has a maximum shelf life of 3000 years
3000 years...let that sink in
I've been reading that manuka honey can cure cancer. That's why they have been spraying us with chemtrails is to kill off the bees. And keep us sick!!!

What a cool lady. Great step-by-step of removal of honey. You make it look so easy!
Thank you for this beautiful video. You have explained the process well. Loves from Turkey x
Very cool. I am learning about bees and beekeeping. Never saw a comb used to remove the caps off of the frames. People just usually use knives.
Looks so satisfying!!
That really look delicious !
Thank You so much for sharing. I recently ( almost 2 years ago) moved to Ukraine in the Carpathian Mountains region (about a 20 minute walk to Romania) where we befriended a family that keeps bees for a living. They live nearby. Their honey is so delicious. We will be going to their home soon to get a personal look at the process. I can't wait to see it. Until I go there (in the next few days)--I am watching videos like yours to hold me over. Thank You for such a nice detailed explanation.
I'm going to Romania next year and would love to see how beekeepers work there. Can you recommend any blogs or links? And have fun with your honeybee education!
I don't know of any blogs or links, but if I find out of any I'll let you know. If you will be in the north west part of Romania--you will be near us here. I am in a town/village called Teresva. There is a border post between Ukraine & Romania nearby. I went through it twice this Summer. The name of the town in Romania where the border/customs post is located is called Sighetu. On the other side in Ukraine--the name of the town is Solotvino. I might have misspelled those names a bit. Anyway--we can always meet you guys here in Ukraine, and take you to that family's place. My wife told me that there are several families in our area that keep honeybees.Lovely Greens - Handmade Living, Gardening, Lifestyle, and Tutorials

Awesome!
Really enjoyed the video, quite inspiring!
Thank you! :)
thank you
Your use of a cappings scratcher for a small number of frames is quite acceptable, however, it is not superior to the use of a hot knife with respect to cell preservation. This extracting video for a small number of frames you or anybody else may have is exceptionally well done. Thanks.
I've always wanted to know how the honey harvesting was like and thanks to your video now I know. Thank you! :-)
***** You're so welcome! Thanks for watching :)

Seriously. Looks beyond delicious. I also get that it is very labor intensive.
There's no true reward without hard work :)
I always wanted to get honey bees. It always seems so interesting to watch. Do you have trouble with black bears or other critters getting into your beehives?
Beautiful Video , Beautiful Channel 😘😘😘👍👍👍

I loved watching this....I always wondered how honey was extracted. Thanks for sharing. I am going to share this on our Facebook page. Wishing you a wonderful day. :)
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video -- the next time you chat to a beekeeper at the farmers market (or wherever) you can impress them with what you know :)

Never said this BEEfore, but I wanna be you when I grow up. That looks like a fun job. Seriously cool video aswell
How tf did I wind up in a RUclips spiral about honey. Now I want raw honey.
Here after watching Jason Statham's BeeKeeper. I saw him making honey in the movie and I was intrigued to know the process lol
How much honey can you get out of one hive? Like how many jars or gallons? I think beekeeping is fascinating; thanks for making the video.
I love honey!!!
Love that girl who doing such jobs alone 😍
Hi! I would like to know if we can buy your honey products, it's really surprised that honey doesn't rot, thank you for educating us! I like the way you extract honey without destroying their honeycomb
what type of electric extractor is that? I've been looking for one but have found a good one so far.
I freaking love honey... The vids r 2 satisfying

Do you also bottle raw, unprocessed, unpasteurized, unfiltered honey with bits of bee wax and pollen in it too?
Looks so Gooooood I want some lol😱

Does it taste better than the one you buy at store?
Where do you get the jars
Hello,
Can you please recommend an electrucal extractor for backyard beekeeper? Спасибо заранее.
Great clip as I am on a Bee Keeping Course.
Good luck with your course and future bees!
Thank you.
Wow how do I get that jar of honey ?
I love this demo, it is very close to my own extraction method. Regarding the question of whether honey is vegan, I think perhaps you need to consider how the honey is extracted and whether it is done with consideration and integrity towards the bees and decide whether that influences your choices. It depends on the mindset of the vegan! Honey is not produced by bees the way milk is by cows for example, it is not lactated or made from from its own body. The nectar harvested from plants, and then is converted by a chemical process by the bees, and reduced in water content by regulation of the temperature within the hive. When a mindful beekeeper extracts honey it is not to the detriment of the bees as we never take anything for the main brood chamber, only from the "super" which is put on when there is more honey than the bees need (superfluous).
Exhibit A on why vegans are insufferable.

The new designed Flow hives make this process much easier.
Step 1 place a bottle to catch honey.
Step 2 turn tap to extract honey.
Step 3 enjoy honey.
Hi, very interesting video...really enjoyed it..i have a question in regards to honey..is it true that the longer the honey is kept with bees..the thicker it gets because water content goes down?..and also is there a way to get honey to not taste maple-ish...i live in canada and most of the honeys i have tried they taste maple-ish and im not a fan of the maple taste?
When honeybees work nectar they've gathered into honey, they evaporate the water out. When honey becomes the right consistency, the bees cap the honey in the honeycomb. It doesn't get thicker after this but may crystallize after time, depending on the nectar source.
As far as the flavour is concerned, honey can taste of whatever the bees have been foraging on.
Lovely Greens • Garden Living & Making i see, thank you..that was helpful
Friggin beeswax!
Nice! I don't filter my honey, it gives it a different taste.
When we had bees build a colony on the side of our house a few years ago, Id tear out a chunk of the hive then stick it in a fresh pot of coffee & have it dissolve inside it.
Unfortunately I got unwanted particles like dead bees & wax clumps but they mostly floated to the top then I got to have delicious honey coffee.
wow!!!!
Probably the best food on earth. Sweet, but healthy.
The reason why I'm here cause it's so damn satisfying😂
hi vince name is vinceo vincenzo beekeeping great job keep doing good job
Thank you Vincenzo :)
Hi guys, if you wanna remove that foam ontop of the honey, 1 take a wet kitchen towel , 2 spread it ontop, 3 lift the towel, the foam will stick on it so no honey wasted :)
Ps : that plastic film would have done it as well
i come here when im stressed out
lmao
