I will never forget the first time I heard this. I was driving in my car home from work back in 1999 listening to WCLV in Cleveland. This came on during rush hour. It was like the entire world stopped and all of my attention went straight to this music. I went on to purchase a CD and played it for my wife. She loved it. From that moment on it will always bring her to mind. I haven't played it for her in awhile. I think I will tonight over dinner.

Hallucinant!!!

I was an orchestral trumpet player back in the late 70s and early 80s and still have many friends from that world. A little less than 10 years ago, one of those friends posted a social media update that said only "Gabriel just slid over to second chair". We all knew. So many hours listening to this man.

When I listen Maurice Andre in this Telemann's concert, I still think that trumpet is a different instrument than one we every day believe to play. Already the first note D - by oneself - has the power to zeroize everything, and to stand out like absolute artistic truth.

Based on what I have seen others say who met the man, he truly conveyed his heart through his playing. Without a doubt one of the best players I've ever heard. A shame I was born too young to have had the opportunity to listen to him in person, but at least there is always his legacy.
