Amen! Been doing some research on them and they really need more spotlight. The people who constantly talk about wanting representation completely ignore these already established characters.
+GodSpeedKnight7 I say that all the time. Icon is a character with so much potential. He's got a unique backstory, a unique set of powers, and he's a power house characters like him are always going overlooked. Yet people will hop all over fuckin Zendaya playing Mary Jane? GTFOH.
Tissan Young Dude if Icon ever does get a movie then I would want Holocaust to be the main villain. The battle between them would be epic especially in the DCEU style.
GodSpeedKnight7 I apologize in advance for being long winded in response. A couple diffent statements here; Its okay, you can say black people. You dont have to generalize your statement. I promise we (black people) mostly won't go at you if you do. However, you must remember something, most black people have a different taste in what entertains them. However, more than that you need publication for anyone to be aware of anything. Most black people often don't like it when black superheroes are juxtaposed to black exploitation; insert Lule Cage catchphrase, "Sweet Christmas!" Most black people didn't speak like that in the 70's, even in "jive" talk. Yet, if you don't have money behind your publication, You're done! Period! You must remember it's not a case of most blacks not wanting more representation in comics, they simply didnt know who these people were in Milestone Comics during the 90's. Consider if you will, MC started in 1993 by 6 black comic book writers. In 1993, the Uncanny X-Men dominated the comic and television cartoon series world. There is no denying this at all! You lived for Fleer silver packaged comic trading cards in the 1990's. In fact, Fleer started as a baseball card trading company, and before folding, Marvel single handedly purchased them and held them afloat for another 10 years. You need money behind you to do that in any world. It takes time for a character to get over. Supes started in the 50's and didn't become white hot until the Golden age in the mid to late 80's. Black Panther was the absolute first black super hero form 1963. He didn't become white hot until the early 2000's. Batman became white hot thanks to Adam West. DC & Marvel had a team of staff writers. MC had 6. DC & Marvel aren't going to easily allow you to encroach without serious financial backing. Back stories can make or brake a character. I mean without DC we probably wouldn't be aware of Icon, Black lightning, or static shock. MC was pretty much done in 1996, so they had to do a deal with DC to get their characters out there. They simply didnt have the money and time put in that Marvel and DC had put in. World War 2 is what put Marvel and DC over the hill. They rolled a full war effort comic that popularized people like Supes, Batman, Wonder Woman etc. MC had nothing to piggy back from so their battle uphill was daunting. Plus, when you say black super hero in the 90's people weren't that open to it. So, it's not we don't want representation, many of us as black people are just starting to catch on. If you don't mass publish it, we simply don't know about it.
How in the hell is Icon not more popular?! Somebody write this man a Rebirth series. He deserves it!

I’m pretty sure Starman did that in that movie and Martian Manhunter pretty much shape shifts into whatever he wants on the daily including kids so I guess that’s just the world of comic books and fantasy. I would rather have a different story that hasn’t been rehashed than have the same generic plot retold over and over again.

You all forgot to mention his job as a galactic peacekeeper before the crash, which is the reason he didn't really interfere with human relations, and why he became a judge.

That's weak sauce with that type of power but now I get it. Because if I was ICON without that background, the world would be my oyster. I mean he was there so long ago. America and everything would have been different considering his galactic knowledge and propensity to peace.

i remember watching young justice and seeing him in one scene and i wondered "who this guy?"
i looked it up, decided to search his comics online, and man did i love them.
This character is so underrated, I read his entire rub a few years back and loved it, I wished he did more in young justice

No, Marvel won the rights to title a comic "Captain Marvel". DC can still call the character himself Captain Marvel anytime they want. In fact, the Earth-5 version of the character that was introduced in Multiveristy is called Captain Marvel instead of Shazam.

Icon definitely doesn't get anywhere near as much spotlight as he should but I understand.

+Deebo Molina They moved Static to New York, changed his character alot, and the stories were pretty messy and undocused. The new 52 run changed writers a few times as well and that got ugly behind the scenes.

Characters like Icon and Blue marvel are slept on soo much its disgusting, I think they would both give superman a run for his money
It would be very nice to see him appear more often, and as a big player role. Too many powerful and awesome characters are sidelined to make The Trinity of DC look good.

More Milestone PLEASE!!! I also really like Hardware and the characters who spun off from his series, Deathwish and Marissa Rahm. I am still very surprised that the internet has not been talking about Marissa Rahm. She is a transgender police officer who became a badass vigilante. Think Lady Cop but this time she's representation for transgender people!!!! Give me more Marissa Rahm. I want more Deathwish and Hardware but I REALLY want more Marissa Rahm awesomeness.

Milestone certainly needs more love. Deathwish is essentially "What if Punisher was a rape victim?" It's quite admirable what subjects they tackled in these comics.
People have come to support and understand the importance of minority heroes and heroines in today's society. Sadly there are still some great Milestone characters who need to make a comeback

Milestone going with DC was a not so bright move on their part. They should've stayed independent and published their own stories without the hold up from DC or DC picking which Milestone character they want to put out there at whatever time they feel like it. DC already has a Superman, why would they get excited about another one especially when it's a portrayal of an extremely strong aborigines, copper colored male with no weaknesses unlike their favorite son Superman. Imagine if Icon or hardware etc. were given the push and backing like Superman or Batman.. I believe the majority of urban kids would have a superman they can relate to and look up to. We need more people of our culture creating and telling these storylines and giving our youth more hope and motivation to do great things with their lives.
DC has a MAJOR history of absorbing characters from their former comic book competitors; Wonder Woman, Shazam etc. They bought the entire Wildstorm brand years ago and in my opinion havent done much with the characters.

Static. Static Shock is the name of the Cartoon and the short lived comic. Calling him Static Shock is like calling Batman "Detective Comics".

Adam S I know, I agree. I grew up thinking Captain Marvel's name was SHAZAM. (Which it no is for just that reason.) But if you spent a decade calling him Static and then suddenly people started calling him Static Shock... it just becomes a peeve.

I live in Orlando where Full Sail is located. I took a tour of the campus last week as part of a team building retreat at work. (I work for the local public school district). The campus is beautiful and their technology is state of the art!

Icon is one of the most versatile, powerful, in depth characters. Similar to Blue Marvel of Marvel universe. I don't understand why DC will not utilise this character to further the Dickota-verse.

Really cool backstory. Mix of Highlander and Superman. They should modify his powers a bit though so that is not just another Superman.

I know he's a Superman rip-off BUT his background is so much more inspiring. This story is making me wonder how the heck Supes have a child with Lois.
Kryptonian and Human DNA is not completely different after all Kryptonians are humanoid in nature icons species from the look of it seem some what reptilian of sorts.
lol He's not a Superman rip off at all. Nothing about Icon is similar to superman in any way, other than his powers, but if that's the case, anyone with a cape and super strength is a rip off, which means Superman would be the only hero with super strength to wear a cape. By your logic, no one could come after superman. I think most people say he's a rip off b/c he is virtually equal with cooler powers.
Killer Bee Majority of Icons powers superman already has the only ones that he has that are his won are his energy based ones. which could I could counteract by saying well Superman still has his heat vision ice breath and of course his latest power his solar flare. And he is not equal to Superman its stated in the video that he is near Supermans level of strength.
@KON- EL, Icon shares about two power sets with supes, speed and strength, that's it. he does not have ice breath or heat vision, he's not like Supes what so ever, considering speed and super strength make up about 90% of all superhero powers, so how are they the same? Also, the only reason I say Icon is arguably stronger than Supes, and don't flat out give him the win, is because he hasn't had enough time to shine, because on paper, his powers trump Superman's. He has strength on par with supes, but his positron energy can be coupled with his strength to increase it's power to unlimited levels, this is also why Shazam doesn't stand a chance.

I'd say Icon is by far my all time favorite Ethnic superhero. If I went to work for DC id want to begin writing icon and other milestone heroes.
