Love these Katie 👌🏻I’m with you with the overhyped books and I think it’s got worse through so many “booktok” recommended reads coming up on my Amazon with great reviews….I read them and am so disappointed! For instance the Colleen Hoover “It starts with us” etc I found them to be really badly written 🫣Unpopular opinion probably! I love a thriller, I enjoyed “The Mother” by T.M Logan, “The Maid” but I think that might be a marmite type book, also found “The Seven Ages of Death” by Dr Richard Shepherd really interesting (he wrote “Unnatural Causes” which I think you had before).
ooh I didn't realise Dr Richard Shepherd had written another one, I found that book incredibly interesting so I might have to add to the list with his next one. I do think Colleen Hoover is quite over hyped, I don't think she is the best writer (no judgement here I couldn't write a book to save my life haha), but I do think her books are easy to read which sometimes you just need don't you? Enough of a plot to keep it interesting but easy to read to at the same time.
READ HOPELESS NEXT It is my FAVOURITE Colleen Hoover book and I have read them all. It is 1000 boy kisses level sad but brilliant. One of my favourite books of all time and I read it and it's sequel in a day each. Cannot express how I feel about it. Prepare for a cry but also a twist or two
I made it to the end!! I usually avoid hyped books too, for the same reason. I read a book by John Marrs that everyone recommended to me.. and it really really wasn't for me! However, I really enjoyed TJRs Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones (despite being mainly a crime/thriller reader).. and I'm looking forward to Carrie Soto too. I've read Survive the Night by Riley Sager.. I found it didn't keep me on the edge of my seat as much as I'd hoped.. but I still enjoyed it and its very bingeable! :)
I am really intrigued by Riley Sager's books... might try that one as the first one I read of theirs. I think I am going to need to try Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones as I haven't heard a bad word about either of them.
Forever interrupted was TJR first book and therefore I have heard it is her worst (still incredible but less amazing) and this is the only one I have not read yet but I do have it and it is on my Summer list. I completely agree with your review of Eleanor Oliphant...I found it a chore to read and I did not understand they hype.
I truly didn't understand the hype with Eleanor Oliphant, literally nothing happened in it. Probably one of the worst books I have read in years. That's a shame I have got her potential worst one but we will see! I did love One True Loves a lot of hers.
Got to the end! I love your book recommendations, i have lost my "reading phase" and have so many books waiting to be read 🙈 Do you ever listen to audiobooks? xx
I love these videos, I always look out for them from you 😌 this has given me lots of good suggestions to put on my reading list! X (I got to the end ❤)
I am the same with anything that is hyped up!! It instantly almost puts me off! I think it’s because I get so sick of seeing / hearing about it that I feel like I know all about it without having to read or watch it !
Nice to see you back to doing RUclips (I've probably missed loads) I've ordered the thousand boy kisses, maybe my 12yo will read it afterwards. I tend to read a whole mix of books, but I also like to revisit old books that have made me cry or laugh. My daughter really rates noughts and crosses which I think I'll get next.
I did wonder whether to lend my 12 year old a thousand boy kisses, I can't decide if it would be the type of one that would grab her attention though. I haven't heard of Noughts and Crosses so I will have a look at that one, I do love a YA type book.
If you like a fantasy type book (sort of twilight like) and one thats 'HOT' then give The Court of Thorns and Roses a read. First in a series. Read it in 6 days which is very odd for me. Brilliant!
I highly recommend Paige toon books they are romantic but also cover many serious subjects plus she loves travel so they can be set in so many gorgeous places and I know you love to travel so highly recommend 😊
I watched the film, the fault in our stars a while back, it’s a book but I didn’t realise it at the time of watching, it was so sad even when it ended I couldn’t stop crying! I really want to read the book but not sure I can face it!
I read A Thousand Boy Kisses on your recommendation and wasn’t sure at first but the end definitely got me! Currently reading Bear Town, again from your last book video, so I’m looking forward to adding a few of these to my stack too!
@@katie_ellison I’m not massively far in but it’s definitely intriguing so far. It’s a lot of fairly complex character building at the moment but there’s an underlying suspense that makes you want to keep reading and find out all about them. Hoping it’s going to be a good one!
Bit late to this but in case you weren’t aware Pratice Makes Perfect is kind of a sequel to When in Rome. Lots of the same characters but it’s the story of her brother and his wife. x
I love these videos and look forward to them so much . I would love to hear what you think of each book you’ve read too ❤ I felt the excactly same about the book you didn’t like but I have to say daisy jones and the six and seven husband are two of the best books I’ve ever read her other book maybe in another life is also very very good xx
Thanks lovely I am glad you enjoy them. I can definitely do a round up of all the books I have read so far this year and talk about them. I really think I need to give in and try both the TJR books as I haven't heard anyone say a bad word about them. x
I made it to the end! I love these videos and always look forward to them 💕 I just finished The Drowning Woman by Robyn Harding (new release thriller) and I highly recommend it. I couldn't put it down!
Katie I really recommend Reminders of him by Colleen Hoover. I've read a few of hers and that one is by far my favourite. And I'm in my romantic era 😅 I'm also old, cynical and been married ages but I love reading about others love story 😂
Haha I don’t know what’s wrong with me when it comes to the romance books, maybe I just haven’t read the right one for a while. I used to love them. And thank you I’ll check out Reminders of Him. X
I got to the end! Would be great to hear what you have read so far in 2023 :) I have just finished 'In at the deep end' by Kate Davies and have just started 'Undoctored' by Adam Kay. I really enjoyed Verity by Colleen Hoover but haven't read anything else of hers yet.
I love your book list videos! When I'm ready for next my next book, I always refer to them! Also, I love your monthly favourites, so looking forward to the next one. Ps. I've just had the hayfever jab, which is amazing... no more itchy throat or puffy eyes! Xx
Thanks lovely I am glad you enjoy them. I was wondering about the hay fever jab but don't you have to do it at the start of the season? Will it be too late now to do it? x
Thank you for all book recommendations will definitely get one when I’ve finished the big pile I have at the moment 😂 .Currently I’m doing photo edits on the night then my eyes are tired so not reading as much as I’d like !
Hopeless is the first in the series. I read Loosing Hope first and had no idea it was part of a series. The books are same story from his and her perspective. Can’t wait to read the next one
I love these videos of yours Katie. You inspired me to try and read 23 books. I’m currently on book number 8, Trust me by TM Logan. I think you recommended it a while ago 🤗

ooh yay that's good news I am excited to read it. Honestly I cannot explain how much 1000 boy kisses made me cry. I loved it so much x

Fab recommendations, I had set myself 50 book challenge but way behind may reduce it to 23 as well x
50 is a definite challenge- 23 is a challenge enough for me haha
😊😊😊😊😊.. you sound just like me when it comes to the choices of Books I enjoy reading…as a Mom!!!
I have a very different taste in books than I did when I was younger I think. x
Got to the end! I love your book recommendations, i have lost my "reading phase" and have so many books waiting to be read 🙈 Do you ever listen to audiobooks? xx
No I don't but I have friends who swear by audiobooks. x
I love these videos, I always look out for them from you 😌 this has given me lots of good suggestions to put on my reading list! X (I got to the end ❤)
Thanks lovely for watching and yes there looks to be lots of good ones on the list, I can't wait to read them.
I got to the end love these videos I have just reached my 2023 reading target of 30 books!!!
Wow that's amazing well done! What was your favourite book you read of the 30? x
I am the same with anything that is hyped up!! It instantly almost puts me off! I think it’s because I get so sick of seeing / hearing about it that I feel like I know all about it without having to read or watch it !
I am exactly the same as you, plus I never find the over hyped ones are as good as everyone says they are.
Silent watcher, but really enjoy the book reviews 😊
Thanks so much Sue. x
I got to the end 😀I'm trying to read more this year as a way to switch off/have me time and I'm on book 12
12 is really good going, I am definitely enjoying prioritising switching off. It feels a much nicer balance. x

Got to the end 😊 Ooh yes would love an update video. I do navigate towards a good thriller but do like the odd love and fantasy too.
Thanks for watching till the end Danielle. Yes love a good thriller here too, but open to all genres. x
Would love a video reviewing what you’ve read so far! Some here I’ll add to my list 😊 x
Thanks Jane I can definitely do a video reviewing the ones I have read so far. x
Would love to see a video about what you’ve read! I love your book videos!
Thanks lovely I can definitely do a book of what I have read so far. x
If you like a fantasy type book (sort of twilight like) and one thats 'HOT' then give The Court of Thorns and Roses a read. First in a series. Read it in 6 days which is very odd for me. Brilliant!
Also, i made it to the end 😁
I don't tend to like fantasy books but I did like twilight so I am wondering if I should give them a go and try something new. x
@@katie_ellison i liked it because it was fantasy but with humans 🤔 cant say more or il give it away. I was suprised how much i liked it tbh
❤Love your videos
Can you do more routine videos
Have a lovely week ❤
Thank you I can definitely do some more routine videos. x
Your channel was in my feed, so I am a new subscriber.

I highly recommend Paige toon books they are romantic but also cover many serious subjects plus she loves travel so they can be set in so many gorgeous places and I know you love to travel so highly recommend 😊
ooh they sound good I will check them out! Thank you.
I watched the film, the fault in our stars a while back, it’s a book but I didn’t realise it at the time of watching, it was so sad even when it ended I couldn’t stop crying! I really want to read the book but not sure I can face it!
I have watched the film of that but haven't read the book and I agree I cried so much! x
I got to the end. So many of those books sound very good xx
Thanks Kara I know there are some such good sounding ones, I cannot wait to read them. x
I read A Thousand Boy Kisses on your recommendation and wasn’t sure at first but the end definitely got me! Currently reading Bear Town, again from your last book video, so I’m looking forward to adding a few of these to my stack too!
I read it too because of Katie’s recommendation, I cried loads x
I loved that book so much, I honestly sobbed. Weirdly Beartown is one of the ones from my last video I haven’t read yet. Are you enjoying it? X
I read it on Katie’s recommendation too and then ended up reading load more from the same author x
@@katie_ellison I’m not massively far in but it’s definitely intriguing so far. It’s a lot of fairly complex character building at the moment but there’s an underlying suspense that makes you want to keep reading and find out all about them. Hoping it’s going to be a good one!
I saw you post the challenge in January on Instagram & I decided to download goodreads and do the same. I’m now on book 17! ❤❤
That's amazing you are doing so well! I am loving that it is making me prioritise reading more.
The book videos are my favourite of the ones you make! I have also got Before We Were Strangers and this has raised it on my TBR
Ah thank you lovely I am glad you enjoy them. I am really intrigued by Before We Were Strangers, I honestly can't decide which one to read first!
Bit late to this but in case you weren’t aware Pratice Makes Perfect is kind of a sequel to When in Rome. Lots of the same characters but it’s the story of her brother and his wife. x
Adding some of these straight to my list!
There looks some good ones on there definitely!

Thank you for all book recommendations will definitely get one when I’ve finished the big pile I have at the moment 😂 .Currently I’m doing photo edits on the night then my eyes are tired so not reading as much as I’d like !
It definitely relaxes me if I read more at night. x

Thanks for the recs 📖 I'm sorted for the summer now !
There’s so many good ones there I can’t wait to read :)
I recently finished The House Across the Lake by Riley Sager and couldn't put it down. Going to check out the others on your list!
I almost got that one instead of Final Girls but Final Girls was a bit cheaper. I will have to try that one next.
Great video Katie! Ive just read Seperation for beginners by Joe Portman and absolutely LOVED it
I haven't heard of that one, will have a look into it. Always after recommendations. Thank you :)
I’m slowly working my way through all the Colleen Hoover books and I’ve just read November 9 and omg that is my favourite 😍
Ooh will have to add that one to the list thank you :)
I read Final Girls a few years ago and enjoyed it. Love your book recommendations. Would love an update video x
Thanks Ellie I can definitely do an update video. x
I made it to the end!!!! I really rate Alice Feeney books…thrillers that are so well written and unputdownable!! 😍
Thank you for watching till the end! I’ll check out her books, is there a particular one you would recommend me reading first? X
Oh I love Alice Feeney too! I adored His & Hers! One of my top books!
Just bought 3 credits on audible, so this has come at such a perfect time x
Yay perfect let me know which one you choose 🥰
Great video as always. These are one of my favourite types of video to watch. 📚 😘
Thanks so much Suzanne :) x
Love these videos and would love to see one where you review all the books you have read so far this year. x
I can definitely do one of those, I will film it soon. x
I got to the end 😀
I love these videos, more books to add to my never ending list! Thank you!
You should add How to kill your family . I’ve forgotten who wrote it but we really enjoyed it as a book club
I think I have sent that one talked about on instagram and people have said how good it is. Thank you will add it to my potentials list haha. x
I love these videos of yours Katie. You inspired me to try and read 23 books. I’m currently on book number 8, Trust me by TM Logan. I think you recommended it a while ago 🤗
Ah I am glad I inspired you. I enjoyed Trust Me but it wasn't my favourite of his (I liked The Curfew a lot), hope you are enjoying it. x
