- Whether it be mainstream watches from Hublot and Vacheron Constantin or independents like De Bethune and F.P. Journe, Jeff Jonas has spent decades building a wide-ranging collection that reflects his love for the hobby. George Mayer joined him to discuss a selection of these pieces and explore what attracts him to specific watches like a Grand Seiko GMT to a Greubel Forsey Balancier. Jeff’s collection symbolizes the “buy what you love” mentality as he explains his collecting journey in this episode of Mayer Time.

Finally an amazing collection by a true collector...was getting tired of "collectors" with 15 submariners and 20 Pateks.
same here all
rolex .. now we can see a good variety
stop hating. some people collect sea shells, some people collect only casino, some people only collect stamps. let subs and patek collectors collect what they like
The best collection I've ever seen by far......so many heavy hitters...truly when money is no object
50 years of watch collecting. The guy really deserves the heavy hitters and the independents! And despite his awesome collection, there’s still regret of losing some past timepieces. So genuine emotion! Great video from WatchBox!
The cream of the crop for modern. Refreshing he didn't start pulling out Nautiluses, ROs, and RMs.
Wow what a production! It was very enjoyable conversation between two great people! What a collection as well. Thank you Watchbox
My watch collecting philosophy is so similar to Jeff Jonas’ journey. Buy what you like, buy what you can afford, & ENJOY wearing it! Excellent video!
Gorgeous collection!! And I love the perspective of viewing them as wearable art. Especially love all the blue themes
One of the best I’ve seen, his genuine, passionate and modest persona were the ideal qualities of a collector!
Great collection and video. I love the passion that Jeff has in watchmaking and collecting.
Rolex, the best Watches best looking watches to
Jeff your collection is absolutely incredible! The best I have seen. Unique wearable pieces of art. Thank you for sharing.
That collection is so nice it hurts. Bravo!
9:59 there are still those of us who match metals and leathers!
What a fantastic episode. Great collector, great collection and great interviewer. Good job
This was super refreshing. Decades of passion and a true appreciation for each piece and their nuances. A great role mode in watch collecting, imo.
Great video!! Great to see Jeff and his collection get some well deserved spotlight, and there's no one better to do it than George! Best Collection video yet.
Just at the second Journe and this collection is gorgeous.. the blue / gold Vacheron is as nice as earthly possessions get.
An amazing video, thank you for sharing your collection and a great interview, wow. I collect the same way, not on the same scale, wearing all of my timepieces and knowing there is always another watch you want to purchase and enjoy. Thank you, George, for a great video and interview with Dr. Jonas.
Another incredible episode. Truly enjoy Jeff’s collection. Various brands and incredible taste. 🎊 congratulations
Great interview! I love that he wears all the watches. That Gruebel Forsey GMT is probably my favorite.
Always love these conversations George. Fun to see collectors who do it for the love of the horology.
That Patek belongs in a museum. Great collection.
Could be an ordinary guy sitting next to you sipping coffee. That’s the kind of guy who you want to have that kind of collection.
Watchbox Studio is killing it. Best collectors talk series on RUclips
Awesome way to start the weekend…thx Watchbox!
Love the scratches and dinks. And the variety of brands.Made me really smile. One can tell the gentleman loves watches.
an personal, audacious, fresh-eyed-catching collection, it doesn't have to be someone else' copy cat; but it certainly gives an out-of-box perspective for anyone starting to collect watches.
Brilliant collection, congrats. Keep on collecting.
Amazing collection! A real trend setter in terms of independents!
The coolest dude with the coolest collection....great episode guys and gals!!
Very interesting watches, KC Chiefs fan, and a lefty. Cool dude with a great philosophy to watches too. Loved this episode.
Amazing collection of modern watches!
"If you have to flee the country and have something to sell" that's great. Awesome collection but I think more importantly Jeff just seems like a really nice guy and a passionate collector. Great collection interview!
The man reaches for a half a million dollar Greubel Forsey, says "I don't want to call it a beater", and I somehow still don't hate him. What an incredible collection! Love how worn they all look, including the Akrivia! Big fan of his work in data science, too! Great job, watchbox!
Erm, why does the patek say "email" at the bottom, though?
French for enamel
Email is French for enamel. 😉
Different dude, he's a bioteh ceo.
Fantastic, I love that he wears them too
Perfect episode!
Great collection, and OMG that one-off VC!
Great collection and talk.
George Mayer is the GOAT!
Great video, George.
What a great collection!
What a collection 😮 👏
The Patek 5178G is the best sounding minute repeater. It is also much more wearable in the flesh than the 6002R. Congratulations on the grail watches!
This was fantastic
Best collection I’ve seen so far some classic peaces some extraordinary crazy ones a 6002R which makes you go like 😳 and a lot of personality I aspire to smth like that someday…
Fantastic collection, love that it is not the "normal" collection
I enjoyed this
❤awesome collection that Patek is my dream watch which never will come true
Amazing!
great video
Awesome!
Great vid with great watches!
The Byblos is beautiful!
Thanks to this guy, you are unable to make a te-te without being known.
Great video! This is the billionaire version of WatchArtSci/Bill Sanders. Offbeat, very high quality, with focus on innovation and engineering. The only thing missing is a Squalee.
My first watch was a Hamilton! Kahki. Great military history watch
great video and a great collection but after all the talk about astronomy and telescopes I ended up wanting to see the astronomy room 😅
Great job..F.P. Journe Centigraphe is my favorite watch in your collection after is Greubel & Forsey …PP is also nice but I more love perpetual calendar split second chronograph -it’s great timepice with real dna of PP..
I learn abauth watches 10years and I work for my watches very hard and long ,because I love timepices…I have only AP royal oak offshore black themes in steel H seria (latest and rare seria produced only one year) and I weith new Rolex submariner 41mm in steel…my big wish is : Blancpain 50 fathoms,AP royal oak and Breguet tradition quantieme retrograde..
To complete this awesome collection Jeff only needs to add an A.Lange & Söhne, e.g. Lange 1, Datograph or ZEITWERK.
Btw, not that money is his motivator, but the PP 6002R goes for between $7-8 million.
The JLC Master SECTOR DIAL is the prettiest and classiest watch under $15,000 you can buy, IMO. It's my next watch if I can find one. Are these limited run?
Jeff, it looks like you have a long term relationship with the WatchBox. Out of curiosity, are you buying from the Govberg AD side of the house, or the pre-owned WatchBox side?
🔥🔥🔥
If I could only have one watch ever I think it’d be that GF GMT Sport
that patek 6002r holy mother of smokes
What’s the strap on the watch he’s wearing?
nice
If that left handed 1921 had to be custom made, ill never be able to get one.
I enjoy watch these "watch talk" type interviews by WatchBox much more than what the dink pushes out these days
Nice house. Should've given a tour.
At the beginning I though Oh yet another super rich guy having nice things. But this particular guy is very interesting and nice.
It is funny that modern Hublots are known for their easy strapchange system. Vintage Hublots are a nightmare when it comes to straps
A Destro 1921?!!? Sheeeeesh
I think I see a Journe - so I'll watch... 😂
You honestly didnt go wrong selling the oyster quartz for the original speedmaster. Wow. 😳
Who else realised this wasn’t a hodinkee video half way through? I know it’s a backhand compliment, so I apologise 🙏🏻! What I meant was OG hodinkee was king, but this very much throws current hodinkee out the window!
No JLC? No Breguet?
This gentleman must have a good safe in that house.
Incredible! I feel bad for the collector that follows this act lol
I don’t think any rich ppl will be taking any deep-sea submersible trips anytime soon
Pff, that Grand Seiko dial and case are something else
Chiefs fan? Who is this guy? Is he from Kansas city?
Former mid-cap biotech CEO worth 9 figures shows us peasants his toys in his Hamptons mansion. There are haves and have nots, and you ain't the former.
Speak for yourself peasant.
Nice collection and great guy, but… I feel it’s more an interview with a very good client about watches where most collectors cannot relate to and frankly questions the reason how much money one should spent on watches, art and cars.. buying only new is to my opinion not collecting but buying.
Big pharma money
So basically, if your rich a watch company will just make a special one-off watch for you?
Yes. If you're rich enough theyll even make you an entire model all to yourself.
Funny, you never hear of Chiefs fans until they start winning super bowls. My Bengals are coming to knock them off their throne, so be ready Chiefs nation!
The watch collection is quite versatile and has many funs. They are very high end and cost a lot. However I would like to buy more affordable, solid and simple watches as these “low end” watches are reliable, low profile and unlikely to attract attention or being target of robbery.
Another tech guy that loves mechanical things
*biotech
Left handed or right handed?.....you are right handed
You need at least a Sky Moon and a couple Journe to redeem yourself for having a Panerai and a Hublot.
What a beautiful pink blouse the interviewer is wearing.
😂
Even though is not my cup of tea, great collection, but that Rolex is embarrassing.
Sad to se such a trash talk. Watches great, but the moderator is like a desperate salesman. Better luck next time!
