- Chris from Rekkid Talk ranks the seven album discography of L7, one of the best heavy bands of the 1990s. This band's classic lineup featured Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner on guitar/vocals, Jennifer Linch on bass/vocals, and the superlative drumming of Dee Plakas.

I had some L7 in CD and was looking to get some in vinyl. I found this helpful Chris to get an idea where to go with them.
I try to help!
Hard to go wrong with Bricks Are Heavy; I saw them play this album live earlier this week and they were fantastic. I do dig Hungry for Stink more than you do though 🤣🤣🤣 Excellent video, Chris! I don't have all their albums - once Jen Left I didn't consider them the same band anymore. I'm that way with a lot of bands when an original or 'classic' lineup disbands.
Cheers, Tom
I thought the first album without Jennifer Finch was OK but the second one was pretty bad. Bummed I couldn't catch them on this tour.
I intend on doing a video of L7 records one of these days. I can’t argue with your rankings. I saw them in 88 or 89 at Fenders in Long Beach
It's cool you saw them that early, I hadn't even heard of them yet.
Hi Chris!! i must confess i know almost nothing about L7's discography apart from a couple of "big hits" songs, had no idea they had seven releases.... need to find "Bricks are Heavy". cheers and thanks for sharing
Were L7 big in Chile? My understanding is that they were very popular in Brazil & Argentina.
@@RekkidTalk Yeah!! they had a lot of airplay back in the day with a couple of songs, but i don't recall if they ever played here?? i will have to check. cheers Chris
@@RekkidTalk sim, no Brasil elas são gigantes.

I'd like to see L7 live. I know they're doing shows.
Me too, but they played Nashville on a night that I couldn't go. There's an incredible L7 show from the International Pop Underground festival in Olympia in 1991 on RUclips where there is nonexistent security and dudes are stage-diving the entire show. I like to imagine those bros are the dads of my current students.
My rankings would be easy since I only have the six song Smell EP. I was more into April March or Tiger Trap or Heavenly and all these other groups in the 90s and I didn't find L7 to really be my thing.
L7 is certainly much heavier than any of those bands.
I saw them in 94, none of the records really do them Justice!! I feel like they succumbed to major label pressure to be’ pop-grunge” and let themselves be overproduced to ill effect
I'd say badly produced for a few of those albums, wish I saw them in the 90s.
You pursed your lips for the thumbnail - that was funny. I have no idea who L7 is! I know nothing about indie acts. Scatter the Rats?!?
L7 is one of the best rock groups of the 1990s IMHO.
