Got my prehire today, and love watching you two. Great video with good info.
Awesome! Congratulations!!
Happy the video is helpful! Thank you!
Great content..thx
Glad it’s helpful!
Thank yall!!
Our pleasure!! Best of luck! We’re thinking you are starting a new career?
Absolutely!! I’m welding at the moment. I just turned 31 so I’m really looking to make some big things happen in the next 10+ years in this industry. I’m looking at Werner OR Steven’s. Idk lol
@@jamesposs Happy Birthday! And congratulations on your decision. The beginning is a steep learning curve. One thing Kevin really liked about Werner was the fact that they had a lot of training. If you decide to go with them you’ll find lots of helpful videos on our channel. Best of luck and let us know how it goes!
Cool!! God bless y’all!
On my first week with the leader. My first training check was $541 after taxes...
Won't know what the next one looks like for another couple days.
Training was fast paced, spent 4 days in the hotel after orientation. And I'm training on a dollar general account.
So far I am satisfied with the whole experience thus far.
Happy to hear that!!! And after training money will definitely improve! Best of luck! Thanks for sharing your experience with us!
How long is you training??
@@abrahampina4825 I spent 3 days at orientation, 4 days in the hotel waiting for a leader. 22 days on a leaders truck. 2 days to get back to Atlanta for testing. 5 days waiting for Smith class.
And finnaly 2.5 days waiting for truck assignment.
The actual times will vary depending on class dates, leader availability, and how quickly you learn.
They will either put you to work, or give you the option to catch a load towards home for home time.
I am dumbfounded that they still tax the $630 since even that isn't a lot of money. I honestly thought the $630 was what you would get AFTER taxes, not before. It basically comes out to $1080 for 2-weeks worth of work.
@@jsmith6629 Its more than 15 an hr to learn for 21 days. You are being paid to learn to drive. People are seriously bitching all over the country they cant even make that, and that's for harder jobs. Trucking is the easiest job i have ever had. It is seriously the lazy mans job. Hardest part is staying awake. If it wasn't easy I wouldn't have done it 20 years cause I am lazy lol
I got the CDL permit 2 months ago and I was wondering where to go next.
I guess this information is helpful and I hope someone will send to me the link straight to the Application 🤓
Congratulations! We are not Werner representative. You'll need to go online to find their application. You can look in our description below or google them. Best of luck!! Let us know what you end up doing.
Not really BUT I am making .52 cpm my first month solo AND they are during a company wide .04 cpm raise. So yea, .56cpm as your first trucking job aint bad at all.
Not bad at all! But then it does still always depend on how many miles you drive.
@@TheJoyofTrucking August 17th is when the raise takes place if they havent let you know yet
Thanks Grant! Yes! They told us today! We are happy!!!
@@TheJoyofTrucking we are making more then some drivers who have been doing it for years lol
Do you Unload like Food service?
They paid $400 for orientation and $630 before taxes for training. They also will not pay you while in a hotel after about 2 days they will say “you need to take a leave of absence”.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Kevin had a classmate who waited three weeks for a trainer (we don’t know why that happened) but they paid his hotel and paid him and told him NOT to leave. So a very different experience from what you are describing.
Any other Werner drivers reading this…what is your experience??
@@TheJoyofTrucking what you are saying has been true for me too
The pay was also definitely not $630 while waiting for a trainer or even orientation pay. Orientation pay was like $350 after tax. We only get paid M-F but have to send a email every morning and sign in, otherwise we don't get paid and can get taken off the list for a trainer.
I'm currently still waiting for my hair follicle results and so are 10 other students in my class, we been waiting over a week
So now you have some time in the truck, what is your average miles per day? Are you getting near the 600-630 ?
Hey there! It depends on the day. His weekly average is 2,500 with a range of 2000 to 3000. Most he drove on a day with perfect conditions was 730.
@@TheJoyofTrucking That is outstanding. I am winding down a 20 year law enforcement career and gearing up for my CDL school. Are ya'll pleased with your choice of carrier?
How can I join the train?
What type of tests do you take after orientation?
Hey there! Thanks for watching! For orientation you do the e-learing and they demonstrate a few things. Kevin didn't have any tests. After being out with your trainer you do a couple more e-learning modules, a road test and a backing test. Then you get your truck! Good luck!!
I started orientation on the August 30 an Monday and finished on that Friday when will I get my orientation check ?
Congratulations!!! You need to speak with Werner payroll department. They’ll be able to answer that. Best of luck!! Hope to see you on the road!
did you ever find out im in the same position
So how soon do I get paid? I'm starting Monday the 10th
Pay period is Tuesday to Tuesday and you get paid on Fridays. Ask your instructor, recruiter, or payroll to confirm your first payment date.
Do they have a team match program if you want to team
I believe so.
Thank you for the reply
After training when you test out. Can you fail ?
It’s possible, but with the experience you’ll have by then, it’s unlikely. You’ll have to complete a couple computer learning modules, then drive around the block and park the truck. You got this!!! 👍😃😃
Do Werner still pay 600 for orientation and do they have manual trucks?
Kevin has been at Crete for a year now. Best you call Werner recruiting to get latest information. They have mostly automated, but you can ask for manual. They have a few. Best of luck!
I’m in driving school for Werner to get my Cdl. Am I gonna get paid when I’m in school?
You’ll need to check with Werner. We don’t know. You will get paid for orientation and out with a leader. Not sure if the give you any pay while at Roadmaster. My guess is no. But call them and ask. Good luck with everything!!!!
No they don’t pay you at roadmaster
My recruiter told me that they pay you while you wait for your leader. I start orientation monday
Yes they do!! Congratulations!!!
@@TheJoyofTrucking thank you
@@Sabotage777able Hey Hector…hope your orientation is going well!!
@@TheJoyofTrucking thank you a lot. I keep following your journey 💪💪
The pay is shit
is this Cdl school as well? if I have a permit
We paid our own CDL School. Werner has Roadmaster. We don’t think they pay you during school. But they have a program where they pay tuition in return for a commuted time you drive for company. Best to talk to a recruiter. Good luck?
Is the 630 after taxes
Before taxes. But best to call them as the video is a year old and they might have increased the pay by now. :-)
I’m waiting for my leader now and live about 1 hr 1/2 away, lady said for us just to go home to fill more room for students, so now I’m just waiting for a trainer. How more was orientation pay after taxes?
Congratulations! And nice you can go home! Sorry, we’re not sure what your check will look like. Depends on what day you started and what your tax rate and deductions are. At which terminal were you doing orientation? Be sure to check the playlist we put together for being out with your trainer. There’s even an interview with KK, Kevin’s trainer. Hope you get your leader soon! Best wishes!!!! And thanks for watching and commenting!
Oh ok gotcha, will check that video out, and appreciate it!
When do they start reimburse our education cost
Kevin gets $225 per month on his paychecks. Usually on the second one of the month.
Best advise is refuse to train with an owner op. Only train with a company driver. A leased driver only cares about you driving miles to pay his lease. He won’t teach you anything because he only cares about his payment and what you can make him. Never lease a truck to drive for a mega carrier; it’s a scam.
Good insights! Thanks for sharing!
So you’ll get paid every Tuesday?
Hey there. The pay calculation for miles driven is Tuesday through Tuesday. Kevin gets direct deposit in Fridays.
They paid us on Friday.
Fridays
@@youglowgirl9457 still working there ?
What happens if you don't pass your training after being with your leader
Our understanding is that the leader can keep you a bit longer if he/she feels you aren’t quite ready yet to test out.
So I smoke weed do they hair test when do you take the test
Hi there. Yes. They will do hair follicle test at orientation. If you are smoking weed you the test will show it. Then they won’t hire you. Sorry.
@@TheJoyofTrucking thanks I’ll be waiting at least 90 days
@@Joe-wheels 👍👍👍🤞🤞🤞
$630 a week Yikes that isn't much specially after you figure 20% for taxes. to keep up with the house payment, car payment and feed the kids. plus electric and gas , water, sewage. How do people survive on that?
That was just during training weeks. Best to save up some money if expenses exceed that. At least it’s something. If you are going to school, getting a degree, you don’t get paid at all.
And we think it’s gone up since then.
@@TheJoyofTrucking to play devils advocate here if I was going to collage or another type of trade school you could work on the off hours, not an option while on the truck with a trainer. Not trying to be a jerk.
@@georgecook1374 Hmmm. True. Depends how much time you put into college homework ;-))
Its more than 15 bucks an hr. Seriously millions of people are making less. You are training at this point. Useless really, Figure it as getting paid to go to college
A Full Month On Starvation Wages,
Already a nope and Cyah !
We actually still think it’s a good place to start. 😃
Worst company in ALL trucking would not recommend them funk them
How Much Did They Pay This Guy, For This BS
Nothing. We want to help new drivers have an insight into what to expect.
