She sung this during a period when the singers took turns singing solo snippets of Kirk songs they chose... so it was not a consensus singing... it was an inbetween moment during the actual concert where each singer did a common Kirk song and had fun with it.

I am thrilled about who she's become, but at the same time I miss some aspects of the old Nikki Ross. She had a rawness and smoothness to her that I miss. She also had a higher range and a rich, softer voice. Her runs here are so sweet, and, ironically, part of that is due to how the variations are limited, and the chords they produce
You should check Nikki out on Ricky Dillard and New G's last project. The 7th Episode Live in Toronto. Nikki killed I Surrender All. Her vocals are ridiculous and her runs are so clean. I was in awe when I heard her sing in rehearsal when we were getting ready to record Ricky and New G's last project. She has been underrated for so long, it's about time she's getting the recognition that she deserves.

Yes sir, that's def true for Karen. There's a recent youtube video of Nikki Ross @ the Triple M Conference recorded like 2 months ago where she sings To God be the Glory & There is no way. Look it up if you haven't seen it already. On that video even though her voice and range are back in great condition, it was like she had decided to avoid the runs and riffs, maybe due to people calling it a show-off or her feeling like her runs are not worth it. And I love the runs and crazy vocal stunts!
Ummm, Karen is the originator and influence of many many singers, a great inspiration and still a beast. She is cemented in history as one of the greatest singers so she really doesnt have to serve it like she used to BUT SHE STILL CAN AND DOES, Nikki is so sweet, her talent is just MIND BLOWING, but she not yet a legend, although she will one day be cause she does stuff that just is beyond understanding, just like Karen, But Karen is still my fav singer!!!! (that was a long response right?) LOL

I'm confident it's not Kirk stopping her from doing more on his albums because she does even more runs on Kirk's stuff than on her other recorded tracks that I've heard. Even live, if she's singing a duet or something other than a solo, she's more simple from what I have observed. Anyway, I personally love her "crazy" vocal stunts, but I do get the "over-doing it" dissatisfaction.
i feel you. sometimes it can overboard but i feel like you have to focus more on the words and the meaning behind the song. that way you are still ministered to. thats just the way that she ministers. dont get me wrong.. alot of people can go overboard and run too much or just do their own thing to the point that the ministry is lost. but, thats when we have to focus harder on the ministry of the words of the song. feel me?
She didn't sing in this part of the concert. She sang a solo at some other song, which is probably why she was skipped this part. All the songs that had a the whole band didn't record so well because of the mic in my camera, so I don't have that. But she did well, you can trust me on that. :)

It's actually not a camera phone... it's Casio Exilim Digital Camera. I use it as a voice recorder as well. The mic really isn't bad at all. :)
