  • What's better than seeing a sunset or a sunrise on your bike ride? How about seeing both in one ride? With the summer solstice comes the longest day of the year and, also, the shortest night! Hank and Conor took on the challenge of seeing who could ride the furthest on the shortest night of the year.

    Reminds me that my daughter and I did the Dunwich Dynamo a few years ago. We got to Dunwich just as the sun was coming up, downed a couple of bacon rolls and a cup of tea at the cafe, then rode home. A round trip of just on 200 miles and an epic ride that we will remember forever. Every cyclist should do something like this once in a while just for the hell of it.

    • @chrispage8936
      @chrispage8936 4 года назад +2

      Absolutely. I did the 'Dun Run' for the first time last year and really, reallly loved it. The camaraderie for the first half, then the solitude when I missed a turn and went 'off pissed' for the last third. I started before sunset (left Hackney 8pm) and finished after sunrise (arrived Dunwich 6am) but riding in total darkness in the middle of nowhere (at times I didn't even know which county I was in) was brilliant. As an experience it was definitely on par with L'Eroica and the Maratona, but in a different way from either.
      I'd love to see Hank and Conor ride it in 2021.

    Just occurred to me that Connor and Hank are like a couple doing long-distance dating. Both doing the same activity at the same time from their own locations, having some heart-to-heart now and then. "Wish you were here." "It looks beautiful here but I'm by myself." 😂 Heartwarming Bromance!

    Hank. Enjoy and relish these days with your father. I used to do stuff with mine, or he'd tag along to watch me, like yours is doing. I lost mine late last year, and while I do feel that I made the absolute best time for, and with, him over the last five years or so, I'm still a little envious that you still have yours to be with you. Enjoy, it, solidify these times into memory, and keep that connection strong.

      Sorry to hear about your loss! It's great that you have many happy memories with him. Hank's really lucky to have his dad support his crazy challenges so enthusiastically and we love being able to capture and share that in our videos! Thanks for watching.

    I have a friend who comes out with my local cycling club. He is mental. I does a lot of all nighters. He goes into Wales and up to Yorkshire by bike as he can't drive. He also usually rides a fixed wheel of a fixie. He stops at the YHA .
