    My favorite Episode from Janet's time at fresh prince was when she was a substitute teacher for will and carlton for their history class on "black history" she was so real and passionate and she totally fit the part of an educated black woman. I dont know what the hell they were thinking when they casted that other lady because she was very dull and played the regular housewife.

    • @XiloChannel
      @XiloChannel 6 лет назад +1

      Because behind the scenes she wanted more money (understandably) and will said "My deal is my deal, your deal is your deal" and she got mad (understandably.) then, she wouldn't let it go and got kicked off the show (understandably.) everything happens for a reason.

    • @queenofthenile4547

      She wanted more focus on her character and the show was about will period. You can tell the Big brother tp focus more on the host. She signed up for a supporting cast member and wanted to be the star.

  • @Groanola

    I do agree with what Janet was saying about the Oscars. Jada was wanting to boycott the Oscars for the wrong reasons, because her husband didn't get nominated/didn't win. There are sooooo many more issues we as African Americans are facing nowadays that a stupid award show snub is at the very bottom of the list. Bottom line is, Jada would most likely not have asked people to boycott the Oscars if her husband won or was nominated.

    • @clarke4400
      @clarke4400 8 лет назад +10

      +Laurence Eckert But Jada has done alot of other things too. Everybody is saying there are other things going on in the world, true, but jada has given back to her community and has also participated in other humanitarian work.

    • @Groanola
      @Groanola 8 лет назад +25

      Michie Oo I'm not saying she hasn't. I'm just saying that its pretty suspicious how she didn't say anything about boycotting the Oscars until her husband didn't win. She should speak up for the right reasons, not because she felt her husband was snubbed.

    • @clarke4400

      Laurence Eckert She spoke up for the right reasons regardless. Even though her husband being snubbed was the main reason she became vocal about the lack of diversity, the reality is, we all have a reason to do things. So if it takes her husband to get snubbed for her to speak, then so let it be!

    Despite what some of y'all have to say negative about her you can't deny the fact that she made great points. The Oscars was never made for us by us, how there are bigger things to worry about, and that we can create our own things. And I also agree the only reason Jada said something was because Will didn't get nominated. I bet if Will didn't even do a movie and no black person was still nominated that she wouldn't have said anything. And I believe that's all Janet was saying. But I, like most, don't know the whole story, but that's what I got with the information given.

  • @jolty9540
    @jolty9540 8 лет назад +33

    Of course there are bigger things than the Oscars when it comes to the diversity issue, but I'm so tired of people using the "there's bigger things" every time there's a problem, cause it distracts from the ACTUAL problems. Like when Caitlyn was called brave ect, and all of a sudden, IRRELEVANTLY; People start posting stuff about Akon providing Africa with electricity ect, OF COURSE Akon's gestures to Africa are amazing and should be widely appreciated, BUT, how many times are people going to throw the "there are bigger things" JUST to justify what THEY are saying, as opposed to the actual bigger picture of the problem? Everyone is more concerned about how they come across, and what they post, than any actual diversity problem we have.

    I love me some of The Real but as the name says let me be real for a minute with no disrespect. I think all of the hosts need to work on their interview skills and stop looking so rigid. They seem frightened to say something more meaningful in a lot of their interviews, in other words they don't seem to be to REAL in interviews. Its usually very awkward, it's more tolerable when they are interviewing people on lighter subject matters but like with this and Rachel Dolezal and a few other, it's quite painful sometimes. I guess you guys are newer to the more serious interviews but with time I hope it gets better :D

    • @TiffanyRayneOfficial
      @TiffanyRayneOfficial 8 лет назад +14

      There are stipulations to their job of doing interviews. One being that there probably are contracts signed about what they can ask and what they can't, even tho I'm sure they'd love to say what they really think. And two, with them being public figures themselves, they would more than likely get backlash from the public and the politically correct crowd if they were to go against the grain. You see how they already are critical of them now.

    • @serenacadence6801

He does no wrong so that's why it's been so hard for people to believe what Janet has been saying for years. She's the one who lost her job, there was nothing to gain for her. As we all can agree, she clearly is still hurt about whatever went down. And I understand. I just want for her, for herself, to forgive anybody who has hurt her because it seems she has not moved forward. Yes, she brings up valid points. An actual crazy person can do that but it does not take away the fact that she has not made peace within herself about it.

Dark skin Viv was the best obvs but the whole nice and calm persona she has here I dont but it fully. However, I respect her talent irrespective of all. And yes even tho there are far greater issues in the world, I don't think Jada's point's should be dismissed at all!

    You can't curse people out and act a fool on social media then get on a tv show and have an eloquent speech to make you look good and think people won't see through the bullshit. That's why most of the hosts on stage are not feeling it. At all.... Neither am I. This is just some sick game for attention, or maybe acting jobs

    The thing about the Oscars is that it was never made for US, so we can't really expect it to ever be diverse enough. It's sad that each year, they normally parade ONE around to be the token black nominees, and winner, and they get this Cinderella treatment, like the belle at the ball the entire award season. And that normally draws in the black viewers, whether that person wins or not.We have to stop falling for that trick each year. This year, they didn't even bother to play that game. They figured that getting a black host, and black performers would be enough to draw in the black viewers, and didn't even bother to have ONE nominee to represent us. Why would we watch and/or support that show? Ratings and viewers are everything to anything that comes on TV. If there's no change in ratings between a year when there's no nominees representing us, why would they feel the need to make any changes? If that bus would make the same amount of money whether they make sit in the back of the bus, or be allowed to sit wherever, why would they change? You have to make things happen. It's like watching a party from outside, that you weren't' invited to. Why would we participate in that?

I also don't agree with how "Fresh Prince" replaced her with that lighter and much more plain and boring aunt (who honestly did nothing for the show). *All she had to do was to shut up, show up, learn her lines and be grateful to even get a job at a time where it was probably very hard, very competitive for a black actress to get one in a potentially very successful sitcom! Then she ruined and blacklisted herself by going all angry black woman! You don't ask for a raise that early in the series. It comes with time!*

Because to me she implies that the Oscars is some place where we should not expect nor aim for racial equality. Further more, if she is talking about the greater scheme of things: the issue in point isn't with the Oscars, it's with that exact mindframe that accepts that a race has to create it's own 'place' for accomplishments of that specific race to be ecknowledged and honored.
    The Oscars only perpetuate this idea and in the grand scheme of things we can not afford to stay silent about this. For silence constitues consent.

    @rvpstudioscanada3991 4 года назад +2

    I have A LOT to say.. and I HOPE people are listening. I think there was A LOT of jealousy here. I just finished watching her rant on RUclips which SHE posted PUBLICLY ..INSTEAD OF making it private and sending it directly to Will Smith and Alfonso R. Since she DID make it public, she should NOT get offended by people’s views on the matter... by attacking people who are on HER side by reposting a video, or sharing an opinion on her video which SHE SHARED WITH THE PUBLIC. Opinions are like assholes...everyone’s got one.. and SINCE she put that video for public viewing, Janet should NOT get offended when people comment on it. Or next time, just keep it private.
    Now.. as for Will Smith... I realize that you had to step on a few heads to get up on top. Just realize that Will..if you don’t have the support from the bottom, you can easily fall. (That is a TRUE Metaphor to live by). You have to think of the whole picture. Sure, I get it.. you didn’t get along with Janet... like with ANY profession... certain people’s personality clashes... but for THE GOOD of the show, you BOTH SHOULD OF put your differences aside and CONTINUE to create a wonderful product like the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Now.. I get it that you had “the title role”... but it was STILL an ensemble. Writers now have to be SO CAREFUL on putting a character as the title of a show, or THE ACTOR would think they have special privileges IN CREATING storylines for EACH episode of that show. And this was the case.. where you DIDN’T want Janet to do that dance episode, because it WOULD OUTSHINE YOU WILL. Let’s face it... Janet was a hell of a LOT better than Maxwell-Ried actress. What you did Will was a TOTAL DIS-SERVICE to your public and fans of the show. So you got an actress you got along with... it did NOT evolve the show.. it made the show DULL AND BORING. It’s NOT all about you Will.
    Take for example, Gilligan’s Island. Yes... the title role was Gilligan.. but Sherwood the producer, let EVERYONE on that show shine..as HE put it each character have ..”their day in the sun”.. and THE SHOW BENEFITED GREATLY. You Will wanted EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE to revolve around you...and that is when the show went downhill.
    Now Janet... I sense A LOT of jealousy based on that RANT on RUclips. I think YOU WANTED the public to know what was going on..or you would of made your RUclips video private. I get it.. at the time you had 10 years experience in the industry, and along came this young black kid with ZERO acting experience, getting his “own” show, and making A LOT MORE money than you..hell.. I’d be jealous too. ..But that does NOT mean you shouldn’t get along with him. Wages SHOULD OF BEEN discussed through YOUR Agent and producers if the show. Will Smith is NOT Human Resources and part of the Pay Roll Department...but somehow, you made him out to be. STRONG CONTRACTS SHOULD OF BEEN SIGNED on WHO was responsible for payroll and wages.. and WHO was responsible for CREATIVE CONTROL. BOTH these issues obviously was NOT addressed according to your rant Janet. This COULD OF BEEN ALL AVOIDED if it was spelled out in a STRONG WRITTEN CONTRACT.
    In short.. I think you and Will are the same. You BOTH have strong personalities. But BOTH IF YOU SHOULD OF looked at the BIG picture (which was the show) and NOT let your INFLATED EGOS get in the way of a GREAT project which was the Fresh Prince of Bel Aire.

  • @gatsbylight4766

    How fitting that there were two "Aunt Viv"s on the Fresh Prince... 'cause it appears that there really are two Aunt Vivs: This chic [Hubert] has (at least) 2 personalities.
    1st says: "Jada, you need to get over yourself." [In the original video]
    Now says: "Oh, I respect Jada..."
    Hubert had her rant.
    The press and many others nailed her about it.
    So here now in this interview, she's doing her best to bite her tongue (which she was able to do some moments more-so than others) and walk-it-back (tone down her original statements).
    I, like many, loved me some Aunt Viv. But this is not Aunt Viv - that as character on a TV show; this is Janet Hubert. Don't confuse and conflate the two.

I do believe the Oscars should be more diverse and there are several minority actors that don't even get recognized for their craft I believe uproars should be started for the right reason and I feel jada made that video for personal reasons.

    As someone who follow the Oscar race, I can tell you by what gets you nominated, there was no surprise because of the lack of black actors nominated. But it had probably nothing to do with them being black. I can understand people looking at the 20 nominees and see that none of them were black and then conclude that it was because of racism. No it was just a weak year for black actors. There was only one person I think had a real chance and that was Idris Elba for Beasts of No Nation. I think he was sixth in line. This year however has been a very good year for black actors in films. Moonlight is gonna be a big player and Fences is gonna score some nominations. I predict there is gonna be up to 5 black actors nominated for the next Oscars.

      Jordan Taylor you’re right. I sense her being fake and phony about her true feelings for will and Jada. She is pretending to like them and everything she is saying in regards to them is a lie, deep down she doesn’t respect them and she hates them but she knows that in order to make it in that industry she has to play nice towards them. In order to stop being looked at as the angry, bitter, crazy black woman who can’t get over being fired from a 90’s sitcom, she can’t keep going around spewing hatred towards America’s favorite couple.
      Whatever happened between her and Will was years ago, but it effected her so deeply and changed the course of her life and I believe the only thing that could help her get over it is a real sit down with him to discuss what really happened and for him to apologize for whatever perceived wrong he did towards her.
      In another video she said that she wasn’t able to get on talk shows because of everyone’s allegiance to the “smiths”. So if she doesn’t play nice she will continue to be blackballed. She also talked about a child that could possibly be his I’m not sure. This thing runs deep and needs to be brought to the light on red table talk.
      Also, I noticed that Tamera looked very uncomfortable sitting next to her. I’m not sure if it’s because she’s friends with Will and Jada or what but she really looks awkward and uncomfortable doing this interview. She barely even says two words to her in this clip.

This has been an issue for a very long time and Jada sat quiet until her hubby didn't get a nomination Lol Real convenient Jada. I also agree that there are so many more important issues going on in the world. One issue I wish Janet and Jada would have brought up is all of the Black people killing each other in Chicago. That's way more important than lack of diversity at the Oscars Lol
