It's 2023, and I'm 37 and still listening to this song since I was with my siblings that where born in the years of 1969 and 1972.... and I'm in love with this song always
This was the first song my son memorized and often sang when he was about 3 or 4 years old. (because it was my favorite song at the time). Being a single mom, we used to walk around the mall or the park and sing Sukiyaki... oh those times were golden. Now he is 23 and in a serious relationship with his gf, and he doesn't spend a lot of time with me anymore and it just makes me reminisce when I am lonely and alone.
I also knew them and can attest to that. They were very down to earth and genuine. Only concert I have ever attended was theirs. And I went with their cousin. Now my own kids listen to their music.
I know this sounds weird, but I loved this song because it reminded me of my best friend who died just after it was released. She was only 22 and it was such a dumb accident that killed her, I was devastated. She brought sunshine and smiles and support through a very dark time when a lot of so called friends turned their backs. I still miss you Blondie. RIP Jodie💖💔😘
@@shodaime748 I'm sorry I've taken so long to respond. Jodie was 22 when she fell asleep having a bath, being overtired from work and having had a couple of drinks to unwind. She never woke up, just slipped away from us. A stupid dumb accident, that's all & she was gone so quietly no-one heard her go. She broke a lot of people's hearts that night. I still miss her & many others I never had a chance to say goodbye too. I always hope they knew how much I loved them & how they sit in my heart. Let those you love know it. 💖💖💖💔💔💔😿
Listening to the song rn and I’m 42 yrs old ! Ain’t nothing like some R&B with actual feelings and story to the song ! This generation forgot the true meaning of songs smh !
This was my song in 94. I was a lovestruck silly 7th grader with a huge crush on a boy named Robbie. Coincidentally I did get to dance with him to this song at a school dance but nothing happened after that. I will never forget how this song made me feel. I’m 40 now and just had to listen to it again. Still makes me tear up
I’m glad you have such a great memory connected to this song, I hope it brings you joy any and every time you hear it, just want you to know your cared for and don’t be lonely cause there’s always someone there for you even if you may not feel it
I also had a song I played all the time when I was crushing on this guy (Celine Dion's Have You Ever Been in Love). Three months later we were engaged. LOL We've since split up, but that was hilarious that we weren't dating, then ended up engaged in such a short amount of time.
Good god I was 14 full of life energy and hope time comes along and you look into the mirror and seea former shell of that hopeful young healthy boy who believed he could change the whole world 🌎 😢time is such an enemy to mankind
Was about 16 when this came out. I remember getting this for christmas, as well as a Miami dolphin jacket and a cassette tape of Kenny g the moment. Only things I got, but I played that album so many times till it was stolen back in 2006. Had it for about 10 years or less. How I miss it. Maybe 9 years. Still my favorite old time band.
This song reminds me of me and my older brother. We used to sing this song while riding our father's bike. This is also the first song he taught me. So much memories in this song. Today, when we use his car, he still keeps on playing this song but it feels so awkward to sing it together hahaha.
I just lost my dad 21 days ago. he passed away because of cancer. he is the most hardworking person I know, he worked so hard to make his family better. I have known this song a long time ago but recently this song played on the radio and it hits me when the part "untouchable memories" came. truly, the memories I had with him is untouchable...I can now only see his pictures and videos even though there wasn't much because he was rarely home because of work. today I cried again because i scrolled through the gallery and saw his pictures..I miss him, I miss you dad. I wish you were here to wipe away my tears.
The English version tells a story. While Japanese version tells the aftermath of the story. The English and Japanese version seems to connect each other.
Name of Japanese version which is original is "Ue wo muite alukoh".It means "i will walk looking up to the sky". trying not to drop the tears from the eyes.
Great song and these cats tore it up! I had this single when I was in school and played the tape so much it wore out. Too bad they never achieved commercial success, but that doesn't take away from their talent.
just remembered this song right now after searching songs like So much in love by all 4 one. Had been listening to this song as an 8 year old child in 1997
I heard this song the Japanese version when I was in the Army ':Ft Sill Oklahoma in 1963. I haven't heard it again for many years after I git married and became a widow. Out of nowhere,I heard the song but this English version in 2001. My handyman was singing it while remodeling my bedroom to look like a Japanese setting. OMG ...I didn''t even know there's an Engljsh version. It brought back all the special memories of my military life and friends .....I found the 45 rom record. Not sure if there was still a copy of the Japanese version of the song. Love the song. My best friend (om my first tour:)was Hawaiian/Japanese(RIP) and I'm Filipino. We have so many things in common and gpt along so great. I miss: sadly her son quit communicating with me. My best friend on my 2nd tour had passed away also. Missing them both so much. They made my Army life bearable and most memorable and one of the happiest years of my life. They will always be close to my heart ...🙏 ❤ Amen.
i looked for the original japanese song for years because i heard it in a studio ghibli movie and fund it today im so psyched and had no idea english versions were made

I was talking to a good friend of mine about old school hip hop songs. One song that came to mind was Slick Rick’s “La De Da Di” and I was telling him how many lines from this song were used to creat other songs and all. Really good song
I sang this song to my ex as she was walking out of my house to leave me, hoping she would come back I continued singing this song until she then turned to me and said "now I am for sure not coming back to you with a voice like that." :(
December 1994 this song came out. I was a freshan in college delivering pizzas in a car with no heat, lol. This song would be playing on the radio continuously. I still feel the emotions of those times when hearing this. Best times of my life
0ld gal here today year 2023. lve known of this song when l was a teenager back in the 70s. Today 1st time hearing these guys singing in English is pretty awesome....😮
It's all because of you, I'm feeling sad and blue You went away, now my life is just a rainy day And I love you so, how much you'll never know You've gone away and left me lonely Untouchable memories, seem to keep haunting me Another love so true That once turned all my gray skies blue But you disappeared Now my eyes are filled with tears And I'm wishing you were here with me Soft with love are my thoughts of you Now that you're gone I just don't know what to do If only you were here You'd wash away my tears The sun would shine once again You'd be mine all mine But in reality, you and I will never be Cause you took your love away from me Girl, I don't know what I did To make you leave me But what I do know Is that since you've been gone There's such an emptiness inside I'm wishing you'd come back to me If only you were here You'd wash away my tears The sun would shine once again You'd be mine all mine But in reality, you and I will never be Cause you took your love away from me Oh, baby, you took your love away from me.

I'm sure it'll all be fine soon, he's still growing and learning. Everything will be as beautiful as it used it be in the end
Check out Kyu Sakamoto. This is a very old song like most revived after many years. I love his version of this.

Just listening to this after song many years. One day when your son will suddenly remember this song and you will be in his heart ♥
Sending love and hugs to you! Xx
90's music did something special to accentuate the mood of those hearts experiencing the wonderful magic of love back then..and incredibly still does.
I went to high school with these guys and they are amazing!! Nicest guys you could ever meet. Dedicated to family and friends always!!
I also knew them and can attest to that. They were very down to earth and genuine. Only concert I have ever attended was theirs. And I went with their cousin. Now my own kids listen to their music.
Which city was the high school? I think this is the best version of Sukiyaki!
Stepped into 2024, and im still rocking this song!!!!💙💙💙💙🎙🎹🎷🥁

Bringing back untouchable beautiful memories from the late 1990s. Beautiful song

Beautiful song 😍
Erica's Slot World you're beautiful. You lil slot.
A tear jerker for real, would be tight seeing a final performance.
kyu sakamoto's version is still the best.
Love this version ❤❤❤
This version was so popular in Malaysia, it was bigger than Boyz-2-Men and All-4-1 at that time. Shame they only had this song that really made it.
It's all because of you, I'm feeling sad and blue
You went away, now my life is just a rainy day
And I love you so, how much you'll never know
You've gone away and left me lonely
Untouchable memories, seem to keep haunting me
Another love so true
That once turned all my gray skies blue
But you disappeared
Now my eyes are filled with tears
And I'm wishing you were here with me
Soft with love are my thoughts of you
Now that you're gone
I just don't know what to do
If only you were here
You'd wash away my tears
The sun would shine once again
You'd be mine all mine
But in reality, you and I will never be
Cause you took your love away from me
Girl, I don't know what I did
To make you leave me
But what I do know
Is that since you've been gone
There's such an emptiness inside
I'm wishing you'd come back to me
If only you were here
You'd wash away my tears
The sun would shine once again
You'd be mine all mine
But in reality, you and I will never be
Cause you took your love away from me
Oh, baby, you took your love away from me.
