I've always wanted to visit Virginia City. I love old mining towns, whether they are still around or have become ghost towns. Maybe one of these days. :)
You're making me homesick... I grew up in Yerington and went to college just down the hill from Virginia City in Carson City. I probably visited at least once a year between school and family trips. Later on, I had a friend that lived in the Highlands, and we'd end up on C Street all the time, playing "The Simpsons" after having a meal at the Delta (that machine has been there as long as I can remember, probably since new) or just walking the boards. I've been in all of those stores at one point or another. When I was little, Dad usually sat on the Scrooge bench to watch my brother and I ride that reindeer while Mom shopped, because the owner of the Christmas store was really nervous about having small children in store, what with most of the merchandise being so fragile. I hope you got some fudge from Grandma's, it's not to be missed.
I live in Reno and work in VC! I'm so glad you enjoy our little old West mining town! I've been in Northern Nevada for almost 20 years and working in VC for 18 months and I've still never seen everything I want to up on the Comstock. I was even married in Mackay Mansion. Hope you come back to see even more of our spectacular sights!
@ pg pg - I’ve lived here in Virginia City for about 2 years now. The whole town is full of “weird.” Although somewhat rare, strange things do occur. Maybe it’s because I live here that I’ve seen things occur? But almost everyone I know here has experienced something. This IS where Zak Baggans had his 1st legitimate paranormal experience, after all, at the Old Washoe Club.
Been here since I was the age of 6, I'm 28 I went to this place 6 times a year. Cuz of my dad's work. I visited an abandoned mine in Virginia city. I'll never forget. I heard screaming and voices something touched me and I freaked. Never saw what it was but also never went back. I avoided it like the plague afterwards. Cemetery boot hill is just as creepy as night. You hear things. It's crazy
I really enjoy watching all your Randomland video, they are entertaining, funny while also containing lots of info! Thanks Justin, looking forward to your next adventure!
just went today. took my kid. haven't been there since I was a kid. I live outside of Sacramento and the place is about 3 hour drive at most, so thought, why not... fun little place. glad i went.
My hubby and I got married at the Silver Queen in 1995. It was romantic for both of us, and very cool for me because I love the paranormal and the Silver Queen wreaked of it!
I want to sincerely thank you for all these videos of awesome, overlooked towns! My dream is to go on a road trip like this and savour the sweet, sweet americana of it all, but between the fact that I live in Brazil AND hate driving, these videos will make do for now
I work in Virginia City, and we actually recently had a group of young students from Brazil visit us! They told us it was hands-down their favorite place they'd seen!
stope noun 1.a steplike part of a mine where minerals are being extracted. verb 1.(in mining) excavate a series of steps or layers in (the ground or rock).
"Inside it's just an ordinary saloon"... You're right there and you can't even take the camera off of yourself to show what you're describing. "Quite Lame." Jeeez....
Next time you go to Virginia City, you should focus on the Virginia and Truckee Railroad, as it was one of the most important parts of the Comstock Lode. If you ask me, it's my absolute favorite attraction in the town (if my username didn't tip you off; if you don't know what BNSF is, Google it).
To "Heck It" with you Justin for introducing me to an other obsession I can ill afford. I looked up your pickle jars on eBay (more properly labeled "pickle castors", I have learned). While it looks like one can find respectable examples for under $150, the truly gorgeous ones (hey, I have as much testerone as the next guy, but there is no other word) are .... more. Now, I have to own at least one. Thanks a lot :)
I get the mark twain uncomfortable thing. but bro. the pad on your man bag is backwards. that makes me uncomfortable af. but I love your videos and keep up the good work!
You need to get yourself a decent video camera and someone else to take the video. You could up your production quality immensely, bro. And before I left NV, the suicide table wasn't covered. Also, the owner of the Red Garter was still alive. I hear from friends in Reno that he passed away from cancer. Sad news indeed. I liked him, his name was John, and I bought a lot of period clothing from his store. He asked me where my "accent" was from, and when I said I'm from Wisconsin and don't have one, we joked about it and I made an instant friend. Funny you never went up the Opera House.
Not weird. Not creepy. Not remotely. Just obnoxious. There are ACTUALLY interesting and creepy things in and around Virginia City and this video is basically walking through the stores of the touristy Main Street. Womp womp

Is it haunted, as many claim it to be?
@@pgpg3783 I mean I don’t believe in that stuff but I’ve never seen a ghost there.

Love tripping around Virginia city.
I use to work at the Silver Queen Hotel :) The "Fan painting" of the silver queen is actually a painting of the owner, she painted it herself!
Thats so cool!

A stope is a steplike part of a mine where minerals are being extracted. That might be what the silver stope is reffering to.
