Metal drummers get seriously overlooked and don’t really get the credit they deserve because people can’t wrap their heads around the style. He is literally doing Eric Moore level shit right here, just in a different genre. All the old purists need to get with it and understand the level some of these guys are at. Some fantastic musicianship that is kind of just a standard in the metal genre.
So true. Metal started revolutionary and will remain so. Not as easily digested by those who don't understand art in music.

the musical style is irrelevant to anyone who understands enough about musicianship, chops, and what is therefore required from the drummer by the music they are playing ... this cat is on virgil donati level, but with dare i say even more chops. one of the most technically talented drummers in the world, no question.

Some of the cleanest double bass transitions I’ve ever heard. The dude is a machine, and it was a pleasure to watch.
Absolutely, single strokes as well.... You can clearly hear every stroke of every fill he does in this whole song.... I listen to mostly metal and alot of those drummers have great fills just not this clean.
This isn't my form of music but my God...this drummer is extremely proficient with executing what he's doing....double bass is CLEANNNNNNNN.....this is not an easy genre to play.....gottdamn
I agree this isn't my genre either, but I couldn't help but wonder at what point did his parents go from listening to him banging random stuff and going "Oh God where's the Advil?" to "Damn, this kid's friggin' amazing!"

This album was released in 2008 and the drummer who played it originally is named Lyle Cooper. And Rudi plays it note for note.
Not really my sound but this kid’s capabilities and physicality are just ridiculous. And the complexity?!? All the polyrhythmic textures, radical time signatures and gear shifting between them...

Alex Rudinger, Flo Mounier and Alex Pelletier are by far in the top 5 most technical drummers there are. However Alex Rudinger has a much more diverse musical range having filled in for and been in so many bands. Then when I hear some new fish come along and say "Joey Jordison is the best drummer of all time" I face palm with a migrain and want to follow up with a 5th of Jack Daniels.

the fact that it is so robotic, yet he is playing the entire thing, as a human ... is a level that very few understand. it's a very high level, without question. whether or not someone enjoys listening to it is a different concept altogether. let's compartmentalize the concepts : if, as a drummer, one actually understands the strokes he is implementing, his specific technique choice for each section and fill ... i honestly haven't seen anyone else quite at this level for this style of playing. and because he is using legato strokes, and a mostly french grip, he can probably play at that tempo and velocity forever, as well.
