Very cool sticker additions, it's funny when decals are the cheaper compromise option employed, but then they skimp on the stickers too.🤨The flat surfaces definitely look the most barren and the easiest to decal.😉

I was watching Retroblasting restore the Death Star and was wondering why he wasn't creating his own tabs and restoring things your way. Then I noticed his video was much older and decided to check if you had done a restoration of the same set. You went beyond restoration. Really well done.
I try to show actual fixes rather than just part swapping if I can as I hope it will help many more people. Not everyone is able to find replacement parts so fix what you have is a better option I find. Cheers

Fantastic work. I had this for Christmas when I was 10 (and the Lazer pop up feature broke in a day. ) All of your additions are just what my 10 year old mind just had to imagine. Thanks for another fulfilling toy saving adventure!!
I am not surprised but disappointed that the manufacturer didn’t spend a little time having the floors etc fully textured and molded in greeblies etc It would have made it look so so much better.
Toy Polloi should be the name of a Star Wars character, considering the amount of restoration you have carried out on Star Wars related toys! What colour of light sabre would that character own? Samuel L. Jackson wanted a purple light sabre for his character and, despite George Lucas saying light sabres tended to be green or red, when he showed Jackson the finished clip, there was a purple light sabre! Cracking work, Dave! More play factor now with the custom stickers!
I was really looking forward to Part 3 and you did not disappoint. I have issues with a broken gun mechanism so would love to see how you would fix that. Can't wait to get the custom stickers on mine now! Thanks for the great work!
@@toypolloi Especially those of us with mid-70s Microman. I don't know if I ever did a video on it, but I took ALL my clear Micros and replaced their O-Rings with glow in the dark ones from eBay, even if the original ones were still fine. : p

The elastic from the Prince Adam belt episode, maybe? GREAT video! I really like the fix on the gun. I have a complete Deathstar Station set (and I even have a box for it), but the gun barrel cogs are pretty stripped at this point, so I have to try the felt trick. That is a really smart fix, Dave! Also, your sticker recreations are superb, but the new stickers really are amazing! I know I'll have to get those at some point, because the console always looked kind of bland. It's too bad too, because it's the main feature of that level other than the trap door. I do think that you could have added another sticker on the side of the chair mount though. There's an awful lot of space there, and a few glowing buttons indicating a power-up would really help things, I think. Lovely video! One of the best this year, and that's saying something. You have outdone yourself once again!
Thanks Loston. I was pleased with the end result. I try not to go overboard with the new stickers as you can take it too far and swamp it. I would rather just do a few key ones to add extra details. And the gun has a lot of great molded details on it that really look great. Cheers
I think it would be really cool to add several more of the triangular floor sections and walls to the Death Star so that instead of it being a 1/4-1/3 section it would be more like a 1/2-2/3 section. Hyper custom.

The decals are amazing... I was thinking the control panels for the gunners chair that you made would be great for the tie fighter cockpit panels and the triangular panels red lights that is seen behind the pilot and at the sides of the cockpit as well ... what do u think 🤔
I don’t think there is a right or wrong place to put the original stickers. I just thought these looked like the best places based on reference shots of the film. Who knows what Kenner had in mind?
I'm becoming more of a Wabi Sabi collector these days. I like the way these things have aged and am leaving more of that evident. But you could remove it if you like. Cheers
Great restoration Dave. Love the custom stickers. Were both versions of the Death Star playsets available in the UK, back in day? I only have memories of seeing the Palitoy version.
That part of the gun has raised detail and it would have meant making 8 very tiny stickers to go in between that. If there was not the detail there I would have done it.

the custom stickers do make a difference, I would have covered every single empty spot with them; it's a big playset it can't have empty spots that are 20 cm long... Aren't you going to use the plastic welder on the little crack at the top white floor?
Do you mean the chipped corner on the white floor? Didn’t seem worth fixing. One of the clips into the loft tower is also broken, but again it’s not vital to holding the set together so I just left it.
My swing rope's larger ring broke off cos of the bending it 90-degrees so Luke (and Leia) would hang facing the right direction (for display purposes) and straight down (not some weird anti-gravity angle. My big improvisation was to stick the blunt end of the rope into the hilt of Luke's lightsaber - which definitely accommodated all the positioning issues... but also limited its use to the 3 figures with telescoping lightsabers, lol. This rubber rope idea is absolute brilliance, and it should have been how they made it back in the day... although, after 2 or 3 decades, I reckon the rubber would begin to literally decompose from age, much like the foam trash did...?
If only I had a computer and printer back in the day. I just ended up attacking my toys with magic markers and paint. But that gives toy restorers something to do these days.

I would have put little red sticker on the sides of the gun, because you can see in the movie that it lights up or glows when the gun is firing.
