    Great video, I have to say it feels quite good to know it's not just me experiencing the low rpm fan noise from these 4090 cards. I feel as though both fan quality/quality control has gone down the drain. I owned a Zotac 4090 Trinity OC and the first thing I noticed was the fan noise as they kicked to their minimum. After sending the card back and receiving an ASUS TUF OC, I felt the noise was much better, however at 30% there was still a noise.
    I finally ended settling for the MSI 4090 Suprim X. Yes, even this card has a weird noise at 30% but it is much quieter than the Zotac one. I think in my case, the one thing that doesn't help is that the rest of my PC is so quiet that any noise from the GPU's can be heard very well. I don't mind a bit of fan noise, but at 30% I feel they should be at least inaudible.
    I have ordered a replacement fan which should be coming next week and I will see if the set of new fans help. If not, I also ordered the Noctua shroud mod, which will allow me to replace the stock fans with Noctua fans. That will be my last resort. Whatever the case is, it seems most 4090s are using crappy fans this generation.

    plug the fans to a mb fan header and use fancontrol app to use below %30 speed and to set a much better fan curve/target with ton of options.

    6:00 If the original fans spin at up to 3200 RPM, then the Bequiet fans will reach 100% fanspeed at around 50%? PMW is just telling the fans to go and spin at 1600 RPM at 50% fanspeed.

    • @RandomTechChannel
      @RandomTechChannel  Год назад

      BeQuiet fans are limited to 1600 RPM with the physical switch at the fan. Had the switch been set to 3000 RPM PWM would drive them at 3000 RPM on 100% speed.

    I have similar fan regulation issue on Palit RTX 2080. I think card's bios regulates fans based on RPM number, not duty cycle %. So it thinks 100% must be 3500 RPM or whatever number shitty stock fans have. So at 50% it sets them to 1500+ RPM which maxes out Noctua or other quiet fans.

    • @RandomTechChannel
      @RandomTechChannel  9 месяцев назад

      I also think that that is the case. Sadly BIOS development is dead so we cannot expect any improvements regardless of it still being the best gaming GPU available at this moment.

    Your shroud mask is nice, but it is tracking to much of hot air. You should try with open design of the shroud, or simply don't place any mask around fans!

    • @RandomTechChannel
      @RandomTechChannel  Год назад +1

      The shroud is blocking air only between the fans. It does not cover the heat sink so the air can move freely as before. I don't think that it would make much of a difference regarding the space between the fans. In fact many stock designs are also having solid shrouds around the fans.

    Is it possible to run fans below 1100rpm at 30%? I.e using some noctua ones? Could you connect fans to the motherboard instead? I want fans to run at something like 600RPM when not gaming

    • @DexyII
      @DexyII 6 месяцев назад +1

      ALMOST NOT POSSIBLE , got the same card and the vga bios is set to only allow 30%. if you still need to you will need a resistor in between , noctua has them sometimes idk if you can buy them seperate

    • @MrFilip121
      @MrFilip121 6 месяцев назад

      @@DexyII I managed to get the Noctua nfa12x25, running at around 1100RPM and they are silent enough for me. Running noctuas through motherboard at 30% runs them at around 600RPM, but when it's connected to the GPU it spins them up to 1100RPM. I think the GPU makes sure it's at least 1100RPM no matter what PWM signals the fans get.

  • @devontoner
    @devontoner 4 месяца назад

    The fan rpm is based on a percentage of the original fan rpm, if the original fans would do 4000 rpm and the new ones are 2000, 50% rpm is 2000 rpm.

  • @mrmrgaming

    Great work, but I think you got one of the bad ones. When the 4090s launched, I tried this card but I noticed that as soon as it came on it made more noise than my 10 case fans. After messing around and testing it it seems as though the motor is bad. There was a noise as soon as the fan got power. It did not get worse when the fans moved faster, it just did it as soon as it got power.
    I made a video about it ruclips.net/video/PZ9v3rgE9r0/видео.htmlsi=7eQU1LH6N0bx1wTt&t=103
    I sent it to Zotac with forums full of people unhappy with this noise and Zotac said "Its fine, they all do that" So I returned mine and so did 100s of other people. TBH I would have thought they would have swapped the fan type/make, out by now.

    • @RandomTechChannel
      @RandomTechChannel  Год назад +1

      ZOTAC's fans are just bad. My card suffers from poor bearing sound even the fans are OK in terms of generating big air pressure on high RPM. ZOTAC should use better fans or collaborate with partners (Be Quiet, Noctua, Arctic etc...) which make quality fans. Most likely the RMA numbers are low enough that nothing will happen.

    • @mrmrgaming
      @mrmrgaming Год назад

      @@RandomTechChannel The bearing was another issue. They used so-called "long life bearings" which they must have either not test run or gone with cheap and nasty...but they last.
      It's a huge shame because I thought the card was one of the better 4090s at launch.

    • @quassar89
      @quassar89 4 месяца назад

      never hear bigger bull*hit... watercooling its not cooling by standalone water... you stil need use also fans for cooling water insdie....
      and all silence its based on quality and quanty of this Fans.
      Because quanty can improve airflow whole case and you can reduce spin of fans which reduse also noice due of speed.
      And also risk of failure on watercooling its also problme bc if system start leaking you can break pc... with standalone fans you just replace one of them.
      Water cooling have one plus its just better temps and you can put fans in other place if you dont have enought space for cooling CPU / GPU depend on size model.

    • @ciriusn
      @ciriusn 4 месяца назад

      @quassar89 Well... you have some valid points, but what you are failing to understand is that with custom watercooling, you can increase the eat dissipation surface as much as your case allows (with radiators), and with that, you can run the fans at their lowest settings full time, resulting in a whisper quiet PC.
