Man I love the Claw Catcher, for one it has those exclusive Bionicle pieces, for two the function succeeds!! So many sets fail because their functions don’t work properly, but that one is awesome just awesome!!!
If Power Miners continued I'd say an underground crystal cave or the home of the crystal monsters would have been great. From the monsters' side they could introduce purple monsters, or crystal homes. From the miners' side obsidian/diamond tools maybe lime green-black vehicles. But oh well it was a fun tour to the past. Thanks for the video series! :)
Thank you for this, this brought back so much nostalgia, I remember being so happy when I got the monster chucking vehicle set for Christmas. You earned a new subscriber :)
Dude I unlocked a whole bunch of core memories watching this, Power Miners were my favorite lego sets as a kid, so much so I had a birthday party that was Power Miner themed🤣
Power Miners were fantastic. Those Sets still look great and the play value is still exeptional. Loved the part 1 video, love this one. However we are missing the middle, including the two big sets. I sincerly hope a part 3 video is coming. The Titanium Command Rig was an absolute win. With it's 100 usd price tag it is already commanding in driving mode but in drill mode it towers over the whole range. Terrific play value. Very sturdy set too. The 80 usd set was the Underground Mining Station. That was big aswell but ours fell apart often from heavy playing and the play features are plenty but slighty on the useless side. Still great set. And the two remaining vehicles, the Cave Crusher and Rock Wrecker were fantastic too. I only wished they varied the bigfigs more. In four sets you get Geolix twice and Tremorox twice. Also you clearly have the Crystal King, so that needs to be properly featured aswell. Also in those five sets you get a total of only one rock monster! That is just mean.
My dream is to eventually finish off that middle wave! At the moment I've only got Rock Wrecker and Crystal King. Sure hope I can change that one day! Of course it just has to be the most expensive wave xD
I didn't get many Power Miners sets as a kid, but Claw Catcher and the Crystal King were the rare ones I did get. The function of Claw Catcher brought me so much joy!
I already know all the Lego sets I tried to watch other people reveal them but even knowing I know what's coming up next I'm still so excited for you you make it so entertaining I'm glad you're back
I remember getting the Magma Mech as a kid, I enjoyed it so much. I remember it having so many more pieces though! I guess that just goes to show how big pieces were used a lot more back then. Nowadays, a mech of this size would probably have at least 400 pieces (and it will have longer arms, probably)
The base was one of my last Lego sets and the vending machine was the highlight for me and my friends. We were so excited about it and the big lava monster was also great.
Thank you for bringing back such good gold times with the power miners , unfortunately yes this might not have been the best wave of all but as you said it lived up to high enough expectations , I bought like a month ago the claw Catcher and I agree with you , it brings me so much joy to play with , it's all done so well on it , I wish I had it as a kid but now getting it and live again those times , brings so much joy in my heart for the power miners , thank you for sharing those good memories ! I'm gonna soon get the 2 last sets the magma mech and Lavatraz... I'm happy but half sad because of that I'll take a break for power miners because it's so hard to find new ones and at a good price , the fact that this final wave was affordable for me was already enough and I'm grateful I got into it , it might haven't been the best wave but certainly got some good stuff especially for Eruptorr my first big fig ever to get in my collection that's insane !
@@CheeseyStudios and to answer to your question about what lego should have got next for the lava sets , well I was thinking about more variations about lava monsters and maybe lava King or something like that , and for the vehicles , maybe thought for a cargo boat or something like that and some vehicles that are meant to grab the crystals from the lava , not like crystal sweeper but having a crane function into it
The claw catcher set holds a special place in my heart, I loved watching the power miner videos and I wanted all of the sets (especially thunder driller) but the only one I got was claw catcher. I loved that thing so much, my only regret was taking it apart, it ended up in my big lego bin and I don't know if I even have all the pieces anymore. I hope so, it was a great set.
The unadulterated joy at the gripping mechanic was just a pleasure to watch. I know we had this set, cause I remember the red lava monster, wonder if my brother still has it somewhere.
I had that grabby set! And those commercials.. I remember those, the rapid-fire announcer voice as someone builds the set at super speed. I had an Atlantis and space set too.. the pieces are undoubtedly just dumped all separately in the big bin downstairs. But thank you for letting me remember this bit of nostalgia
A Crystal King-sized Lava King would've been awesome, especially with the redesign of the eyes they did for this last wave (that a prefer to the rock monsters). But all the green and orange vehicles were genuinely great and this last wave was kind of weak so i guess it's good that they stopped before it get worse. The grabbing Claw Catcher was the best thing to come out of this last wave for me. Also still mad we never got a trans-yellow crystal in this small set...
As a Kid i never really realized that that this "next part“ of the Power Miners only had 4 sets… somehow it always felt like there was much more to them. I had the mech and the monster grabber as a kid and was just as amused by the grab and throw mechanic as you were xD Remember always making the crystal king fight the magma mech fight in a direct hand to hand battle like pacific rim or something haha. Obviously also always wanted to have lavatraz… even if it was just for the insanely cool bigfig rock monster. I generally just always adored the idea of the Power miners ending up in other areas under the earth, finding monster that have adapted to the environment. My guess always was that next would be ice/frozen caves or maybe even flooded ones, needing for them to get a whole array of underwater mining vehicles. And honestly, that also is what I want more of… more monsters either big, small or king size, more vehicles with large drills, or claws…. God I just wish they would bring this theme back.
What I would have loved to seen from it next is to explore more of the lava lions and then in the final set you can have this like big Cliffside with a bunch of sets and everything that you can place on and have the lava king with two eruptors with
I remember loving these sets and the commercials for them as a kid. I especially liked the see through monster figures and the gimmick of them hiding crystals in their mouths. Also I wonder if the designer of the water drill mech had seen Gurren Lagann.
The video is so great🎉 Power miners is the first theme (also the best theme) that I started collecting Lego. Hope that I can see the Atlantis sets video, which is also my childhood memories❤.
I would've loved more terrain sets. The whole thing takes place underground and, even though some of the builds include some rocks, there are some City sets that do the whole "Mining" thing better by incorporating the environment and play features. It would've helped with the immersion to place the terrain set(s) with the vehicles to sell the whole "underground" thing for sure.
Yeah! I like how with the City mining sets you actually have to 'mine' the gold. We could have used some of that in Power Miners rather than just picking crystals up off the ground lol
I’ve got all of these except Lavatraz on display. Love em so much. Got Eruptorr tho, got him from a neighborhood kid as compensation for him stealing my smaller lava monsters. I think that was a net positive in the end considering his price these days!
Exo-Force ! Yes ! I am trying to get hands on the whole thing for a reasonable price myself, some sets are very easy to get and some are so hard, but I hope to have it one day (might just give up and pay a lot of money for it one day). But seeing them all on your table would be awesome.
Looking back, the color design of this final wave of sets was very strange, but I was mostly in it for the rock monsters and I feel their new appearance here is perfect. And the mini gigs got a lot better this time around too. Loved Combustix so much
As a person who grew up only seeing the 3rd wave in stores. I would have loved either more of this, more big figs. Or since this series was the spiritual successor to rock raiders, which had multiple area themes. An ice theme in later waves, bringing back the bright orange colors. And when the lego ice explorers sets came out I got a little of that,
22:10 I would have just wanted one more wave with it being ice themed since wave 3 was a lava themed. And colours for the monsters i would have picked would be ice blue, pale ice green, and pale ice purple.
I imagine the magma mech is so easy to get now because it probably sold relatively well back in the day. I mean come on, who could resist something that cool looking?
heyy awesome! And by the way I just found an almost complete aero tube hanger on a local online marketplace for 35€ :) Your original video on Life on Mars really caught my attention. Gonna mess around with all those weird parts trying to find cool MOC uses
So, I just watched all three parts of the revisiting of the LEGO Power Miners and I have to say, I enjoyed this a lot! You actually make this whole thing enjoyable and fun to watch whilst giving the info one wants to know! I subscribed. If you ever come across Space Police (another favorite of mine) please do a revisiting! I'd love to see what you think about those sets!
Your videos are so (Simply) well done! Please keep up the good work. It's very subtle yet very good! (I especially love all the stuff you've done with Johnny Thunder and Alpha Team!) One quick question that's kept popping in my mind and where I've watched your videos... Is what are some good places you use for Legos in the aftermarket?
I tend to get pretty much everything off Bricklink! If you're looking for specific stores, I try to mention each store by name in my Bricklink Order videos: ruclips.net/p/PLsKt5PwQV-mMJ3Ll9Mr2m9zDJPj4jUv4g That might be a good starting point!
@@CheeseyStudios Thank you so much for the help I'll definitely give that a look! I've been using brake link for about 2 years and I've had some good and bad luck on the website. Just with how prolific you are at buying Legos I didn't know if you had any other options lol. But once again thank you for that
There 2 videos sent me on a nostalgia trip for the lego lines I grew up with. Would love to see a feature on Aqua Raiders, which also doesn't get enough love nowadays imho
I loved the sets from this wave but I wish it leaned more into the idea of traversing a terrain full of lava. Like how early waves were mining equipment, maybe have some rigs based around lava lakes. To spitball some ideas I’m imagining something like a raised oil rig esque mining platform that’s fortified for lava lakes. Or maybe a hexapedal walker with legs long enough that it can walk on the floor of lava lakes. Regardless, all of the power miners waves bring me boatloads pf nostalgia and I thank you for the blast from the past!
Really loved those sets, I remembered searching online for alternate builds and mocs from others to expand the theme for myself. Sadly its a bit hard to come by in Hong Kong while I tried to get some of the sets I didn't own when I was a kid.
What i'd like to see would have been something in tbe shape of an oil rig. The center of the earth is encompassed by a mantle of molten lava irl so having something to hover over it would have been pretty neat.
You really should give a look at the ExoForce sets. I remember having 2 of them, but it's just as flashes that came and went into my head when I got it, I barely remember the box! The figs are still on my collection, but not as treasured as I wanted to, unfortunately. Because damn, it had unique ideas, sick designs for the mechs even at the time, this anime style being remembered to this day, at least with some pieces; I'm sure it could be great having a modern series of it.
I think it would've been cool to see a set based around the lava monsters, maybe a giant lava fortress or something where you get loads of lava monsters and play features with power miners vehicles included so you could drill away the side or something. That would've been so cool so you could have a place where the power miners could have their final battle
After months of thinking about buying some Power Miners sets, I finally pulled the Trigger and bought nearly all of them for 230€. I'm misssing stuff like the Boulder Blaster and the Underground Mining Base. I'm also pretty sure that the Underground Mining Base never released in Germany. Every Set has a german name, besides that one. I also only find like 1 listing on eBay for it in Germany. I couldn't find any information on it anywhere regarding a german release of this set. I even looked in the LEGO Magazin around the time of its release. Anyway, really great Video.
It's definitely a rare one and I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't sold everywhere. It's hard enough to find in the US! That'll probably the last one I'm able to get, if I can even get it at all.
The fire blaster was one of my first and favourite lego sets. I remember using the parts for a lot of my own constructions. Unfortunately the theme ended before I got any of the other ones.
Im late to the party but great video! Rumor has it that vehicle number 13 does exist and was produced but not as a power miners set. Supposedly Atlantis set 8080 was the 13th Power Miners vessel but was repurposed for underwater exploration.
What a lovely video ! Will you make a similar video for Atlantis, I mean is THE underwater theme and nostalgia hits hard with power miners and Atlantis
I think I figured out how Power Miners (and other short-lived contemporaries with decent potential) could have survived: use Bionicle’s model for releases. Part one of the first wave (Spring - Early Summer) is your “first contact”. You have your medium ($20 - $50) sets be primarily the Power Miners, and run smaller ($5 - $15) sets for the Rock Monsters as first discovered by the miners. Maybe a $60 exclusive set in there. Part two of the first wave (Late Summer - Autumn) is your rising stakes. The medium sets are now the Rock Monsters, and your big ticket holiday items ($60+) are things like a Miner fortification and/or a Monster hive. Holiday Season for the first wave involves nice bundle deals and maybe one or two more last minute exclusives just to squeeze that extra cash. Wave Two Part One, you go back to medium and small sets, but split each size in half between the factions, so you have this feeling of the ongoing conflict. Maybe the Miners are becoming more militant and the Monsters are summoning more varied brothers in retaliation. Wave Two Part Two, climax of the first arc. Your medium sets are more of the same (maybe updates to older designs), and your big box sets are the ultimate weapon of the Miners versus the ultimate Rock Monster. Sprinkle in some creative Polys and combo/alt build instructions on the website, and booooooy, you got yourself a recipe for money.
The blade pieces on the Mechs claw arm and the pieces forming the claws of the Claw Catcher are all from Bionicle. The ones on the Claw Catcher are Barraki armor from 2007, the blades on the Mech are from 2008
The reason why there is no 13 is that it was a scrapped mech design that could transform into a truck. It was later used for an atlantis set designed by Mark Stafford.
If the series had continued I would have liked some more location builds, not always vehicles. But I'm also curious: did the brown rock piece brake when it fell of the table? That sound was pretty bad... I really hope you cover the second wave some day, keep up the great work!
Watching these videos has brought me a HUGE wave of nostalgia, and I specifically remember thinking a planet’s core wave after this one would have been awesome. I always imagined a trans purple rock monster and it would have been all geode themed. Obviously that doesn’t make any scientific sense but it was a fun dream. Thanks for this awesome trip down memory Lane.

This is crazy. I remember all the power miners wave one sets very vividly, but I barely even recognize these sets.
Yeah, this wave definitely flew under the radar.
That claw grabby thingy made my childhood, wish I'd gotten more into power miners at the time tho.
I think the claw grabby thing made my adulthood lolol
I hope in a few more years we get another Rock Raiders spiritual successor, it's such a fun theme :)
Me too. There's lots of fans of Rock Raiders and Power Miners to this day - I feel that another similar theme would do well!
Thank you - glad to have you here!
Dude I unlocked a whole bunch of core memories watching this, Power Miners were my favorite lego sets as a kid, so much so I had a birthday party that was Power Miner themed🤣
A Power Miners birthday??? I've never been so jealous lololol
I know, right? It's brilliant!
I already know all the Lego sets I tried to watch other people reveal them but even knowing I know what's coming up next I'm still so excited for you you make it so entertaining I'm glad you're back
Glad you enjoy these types of videos :D
I remember getting the Magma Mech as a kid, I enjoyed it so much. I remember it having so many more pieces though! I guess that just goes to show how big pieces were used a lot more back then. Nowadays, a mech of this size would probably have at least 400 pieces (and it will have longer arms, probably)
Very true - the mechs they make now for like Ninjago are insane!
OMG I know it was like a year ago but I love you and your brother in Lego Masters! I can’t believe I found your channel.
Ayyy, that's awesome! Glad you found me here :D
The base was one of my last Lego sets and the vending machine was the highlight for me and my friends. We were so excited about it and the big lava monster was also great.
Lavatraz is definitely a crowd pleaser 😂
power miners was a rite of passage. the day you got a power miners set was the day you turned from a boy to a man.
Really glad you enjoyed the video! Claw Catcher is brilliant - it's fantastic you've gotten to experience that joy for yourself, too!
I do hope you can get it back together. That set brings so much joy.
I loved the outfits that the miners had in this wave. They were some of the coolest looking outfits for bounty hunters.
The silver is so cool!
If you ever track down all the wave 2 sets, I think everyone would appreciate another one of these vids on it!
Hopefully I can one day!
YOOOOOOOOOOO This was the lego wave that got me into them when i was young! glad to see people talking about it, it gives me a great deal of nostalga.
Building the sets back together sure was a trip down memory lane. Great stuff.
Somehow, watching this person being happy while talking about LEGO-sets is making me happy
The unadulterated joy at the gripping mechanic was just a pleasure to watch. I know we had this set, cause I remember the red lava monster, wonder if my brother still has it somewhere.
Definitely worth putting that set back together if you've got the parts - it's the best thing ever 😂
@@CheeseyStudios Will see what I can do, certainly looked like it was. 😉
I loved the claw catcher when i was a kid, it was so much fun
That's awesome! I'm so sad I missed out on it earlier in life, but hey, better late than never!
Glad I could bring back some good memories. The commercials were so fun lol...
Awesome review, power miners and rock raiders are some of my favorite themes
Thank you! I do hope I can get my hands on some Rock Raiders eventually
Still can't believe after all these years LEGO hasn't made that crystal in any set! One day maybe....
You talking about the throw function really made my day :)
The throwing function definitely made my day too, ha!
What I would have loved to seen from it next is to explore more of the lava lions and then in the final set you can have this like big Cliffside with a bunch of sets and everything that you can place on and have the lava king with two eruptors with
That would be pretty epic!
One day. :) I'm really excited to cover Atlantis too!
I think that was a net positive in the end considering his price these days!
the vending machine in this set was one of my favourites, i remember whenever i made a base i would include that vending machine.
I used to own the claw catcher as a kid and that was one of the first lego sets that got me into Lego 🥰
That's awesome! Such a great set
My favorite theme ever!
Remember watching Monster see Monster do on the website as a kid
Oh yeah! I'd nearly forgotten about that. I'd sure love one of those costumes 😂
Exo-Force ! Yes ! I am trying to get hands on the whole thing for a reasonable price myself, some sets are very easy to get and some are so hard, but I hope to have it one day (might just give up and pay a lot of money for it one day). But seeing them all on your table would be awesome.
Hopefully I'll be able to get to Exo-Force some time early next year! One of my other all-time favorite themes
Looking back, the color design of this final wave of sets was very strange, but I was mostly in it for the rock monsters and I feel their new appearance here is perfect. And the mini gigs got a lot better this time around too. Loved Combustix so much
Can never go wrong with the rock monsters!
As a person who grew up only seeing the 3rd wave in stores. I would have loved either more of this, more big figs. Or since this series was the spiritual successor to rock raiders, which had multiple area themes. An ice theme in later waves, bringing back the bright orange colors. And when the lego ice explorers sets came out I got a little of that,
More big figs would have been awesome. They all looked so incredible in this theme!
22:10
I would have just wanted one more wave with it being ice themed since wave 3 was a lava themed.
And colours for the monsters i would have picked would be ice blue, pale ice green, and pale ice purple.
That would have been sweet - ice monsters would have looked really cool!
$35? :O What a score! Enjoy!
Always love your reviews. Like you been getting some of the earlier sets through bulk buys.
Thank you! Those are the best kind of bulk buys :D
Loving this Channel and the effort put into the videos! Maybe a video on the Atlantis theme too? Not sure how easy the sets are to find
Thank you! I would love to do a Revisiting Atlantis one day. I do have a good chunk of the first wave sets too already
oh boy who would have thought years later that those blue bionicle armor pieces would be so sought after a decade later.
I got the claw catcher for Christmas growing up, a great set
Still blows my mind how awesome it is lol
imagine if there was a LEGO power miners videogame
That would be amazing...
Thank you! Glad to have you here. I'd love to do a Revisiting of Space Police at some point!
@@CheeseyStudios Looking forward to it and what you do! 👍
Your videos are so (Simply) well done! Please keep up the good work. It's very subtle yet very good! (I especially love all the stuff you've done with Johnny Thunder and Alpha Team!)
One quick question that's kept popping in my mind and where I've watched your videos...
But once again thank you for that
Power Miners had some of the most fun gimmicks; some failed, but a few worked exceptionally well.
Also, 18:57 Nice 😂
I remember being a kid when the first promo images for the second wave appeared. I remember wishing for a "Lava Queen" to go with the Crystal King.
That would have been pretty sweet
There 2 videos sent me on a nostalgia trip for the lego lines I grew up with. Would love to see a feature on Aqua Raiders, which also doesn't get enough love nowadays imho
Aqua Raiders is another great one. I've got all but the one big base set, so it wouldn't be too unrealistic to make such a video in the future!
Those would have been really cool! We never got to see nearly enough of the world and environment.
Really loved those sets, I remembered searching online for alternate builds and mocs from others to expand the theme for myself. Sadly its a bit hard to come by in Hong Kong while I tried to get some of the sets I didn't own when I was a kid.
Yeah, different regions can be super tough. Hope you can get your hands on some of those kits!
What i'd like to see would have been something in tbe shape of an oil rig. The center of the earth is encompassed by a mantle of molten lava irl so having something to hover over it would have been pretty neat.
I know that the command rig from the 2nd wave exists but something stationary would be cooler
That's a really cool idea! I could totally see that
You really should give a look at the ExoForce sets.
I've been slowly starting to piece my Exo-Force collection back together already :D
I think it would've been cool to see a set based around the lava monsters, maybe a giant lava fortress or something where you get loads of lava monsters and play features with power miners vehicles included so you could drill away the side or something. That would've been so cool so you could have a place where the power miners could have their final battle
Yeah! Some sort of 'base' for them would have been cool
Glad you managed to get at least one still! Such an iconic theme.
Probably my favorite theme after Exo-Force. Thanks for the great nostalgia trip!
No problem at all! I'll actually be doing Exo-Force very soon too :D
Im late to the party but great video! Rumor has it that vehicle number 13 does exist and was produced but not as a power miners set. Supposedly Atlantis set 8080 was the 13th Power Miners vessel but was repurposed for underwater exploration.
Oh yeah! I feel like I heard something like that too
2:10 I remember slapping on the Ninjago katana holders on Rex's back for bulk to make my own Fallout Powerarmor
Niceeee
Great pieces and colors, maybe one day that theme will come back..
I sure hope they'd do something like this again. People still even talk about Rock Raiders today!
What a lovely video ! Will you make a similar video for Atlantis, I mean is THE underwater theme and nostalgia hits hard with power miners and Atlantis
I sure hope so! I'm missing about half the sets from the first wave yet, but hopefully I can get my hands on them soon!
@@CheeseyStudios Well, happy hunting!
The ones on the Claw Catcher are Barraki armor from 2007, the blades on the Mech are from 2008
Yeah! It's really cool how Bionicle elements are used through the theme!
POV: you go to the Lego store, but a mob of Cheesey Studios fans chanting “BRING BACK POWER MINERS”
The revolution has begun
I imagine what that would be like.
The reason why there is no 13 is that it was a scrapped mech design that could transform into a truck. It was later used for an atlantis set designed by Mark Stafford.
I’m so late lol! Sorry I was attempting to run a full marathon. Power miners is by far one of the best mid 2000s themes!! So sad it’s gone
No problem at all! Props to you for giving the marathon a try. How did it go?
@@CheeseyStudios it went ok but I’m glad I at least gave it a try! Thanks for asking!
The claw catcher is the definition of that crab meme that is captioned like: "me when I GET YOU", thats all I was thinking about when looking at it.😂
🤣🤣🤣
If the series had continued I would have liked some more location builds, not always vehicles. But I'm also curious: did the brown rock piece brake when it fell of the table? That sound was pretty bad... I really hope you cover the second wave some day, keep up the great work!
Thankfully all my brown pieces are intact - I was surprised too lol!
Glad you enjoyed! Would have loved a purple rock monster too.
Honestly, I really dig the visors & armor the minifigs have the most
Yeah! The silver color is just great. Love what they did with the figure here.
Man I need to get my hands on some of these power miners sets, they look awesome😆
You won't regret it :D
