    Oh, Mingi, Mingi, Mingi...
    Mingi is incredibly honest (despite lying all the time for fun lol) and actually quite insecure.
    In an interview he said that he's the only non-essential member of the group because there are many rappers like him in the industry, and San and Hongjoong immediately intervened and told him he's unique and irreplaceable.
    In another, more recent interview, he was asked what he considers himself number 1 in Ateez for, and he answered NOTHING (meanwhile Yunho said Mingi is #1 for stage charisma). Again, Yunho, Hongjoong and Seonghwa protested immediately (Yunho looked genuinely distressed, even offended that Mingi thought such a thing). To hype him up, Hongjoong asked Mingi what he's really good at... but it backfired when Mingi remained silent because he couldn't think of anything. Once again, the others intervened with their own suggestions and even involved the fans. In the end Mingi said he's perhaps #1 when it comes to being in the fans' heart. Which is cute... but not really what the question was about; he was supposed to talk about his talent, performance, etc...
    You can tell everyone was taken aback by Mingi's behavior because he usually tries to portray himself as confident or even hilariously arrogant in front of the cameras. But here he was being fully honest.
    In an older video, he said he wants to take care of the other members, apologized to them for "having to" take care of him and asked them to please accept him even though he's "unfriendly and not funny". Both things couldn't be farther from the truth...
    And you can absolutely tell that it's not false modesty on his part. He's not fishing for compliments. He genuinely thinks that.
    In yet another video, he spoke very openly about being terrified of going on stage all the time, and the others reassured him that it's normal and not to expect perfection, that mistakes are perfectly acceptable.
    When Ateez got their first big win with Wave, they all started crying on stage, except for Mingi, who just started jumping around, smiling and hugging everyone, friends and strangers alike. But the team revealed that once they got back home, Mingi cried a lot.
    Oh, and in another recent-ish radio interview, the group played a game where each member had to say who they liked the most and who was the most annoying lately. While everyone used the annoying section to bully each other, Mingi said he found Wooyoung annoying lately because he's just too cool (and Wooyoung melted).
    So that's Mingi :(
    A few years ago, Mingi took an 8 month hiatus due to experiencing anxiety. For a while he was not sure he wanted to come back.
    I think that in Mingi's mind, the group "doing well" without him cemented in him the idea that he's not essential.
    Meanwhile the group struggled a lot without him, and kept talking about him and tried to involve him any way they could (calling him and putting him on speakerphone at events, holding up his picture or cardboard cutouts of him in videos, Yeosang hugging the air in Mingi's place in pics, Yunho doing the Ateez salute with both feet to represent Mingi, saying his name during songs, etc.).
    They missed him A LOT, but it's like Mingi can't believe or accept it.
    Mingi wrote a few songs during his hiatus, when he was 21, and they were recently released (Youth featuring Yunho, Tunnel and and Untitled track), it would be interesting to see what you think of them. They are not what you'd expect from the fierce rapper that he portrays himself to be. They are raw, melancholy, honest. It's like looking directly at Mingi's beating heart.
    Despite all the teasing, the team absolutely adores Mingi. They call him princess and like to baby him (even the youngest of the group, Jongho; sometimes Mingi slips up and calls him Hyung, which is a honorific reserved for older brothers/males). They all say Mingi has a childlike quality to him, it might be his bluntness, his innate cuteness, his childlike wonder and energy. The team revealed that in front of the cameras Mingi tries to act tough (as if he feels the need to contribute something in that sense?), but that behind the scenes he's always taking care of the staff, giving people food, and even speaking in a different tone of voice to make himself softer, less intimidating. In videos he often comes off as the silly, comedic relief, but in private he reads and writes a lot and does his best to take care of people (despite constantly thinking he's not doing enough). Seonghwa is generally perceived as the sweetest member, the Mother of the group, the one the others go to when they seek comfort, and he fully and happily embraces this description in public... but he still said that out of all of them, Mingi is the one with the warmest heart.
    Mingi is a very, very complex guy with lots of anxieties and insecurities, and it's difficult to get an idea of his personality from videos :( but it would still be nice to see you try, especially through his songs (he and Hongjoong are the ones that write all of Ateez's songs, but Mingi's personal project songs hit different).

    Mingi is genuinly a princess in the group! You mentioned something on point, that is that the boys are more attentive towards him. His haitus definately plays a big part in it. They care for him as much as they make fun of him. He is the one that you could say they make fun of the most but that is literally them showering him with their love. Its kind of a take on him being the only one with a T in his mbti, so they say he lacks feeling when decision making unlike everyone else who has an F. Which is definately why he’s straight forward, doesn’t beat around the bush and gets to the point! A perfect example of his personality is from their 74 logbook (I think if I’m not mistaken) where he gets serious talking about his friendship with yunho. The members in the next episode specifically say certain things where they reassure eachother that what they said would make Mingi happy, which shows again that they make fun of him on purpose in a way that shows their love for him❤

    • @deella.3339
      @deella.3339 Год назад +68

      Yup, the thing abt Mingi being the only T in the group is so obvious once you realize it. His way of thinking is wayy different than the other guys so he often seems like an "outlier" in the group to people who don't watch Ateez a lot. He needs a lot of attention and affirmative words, but doesn't always express that desire well so he gets teased for it by the other members who are all good with feelings (hence their F type)
      But that's Mingis charm, he's actually my favorite of the group because he's truly one of a kind.

    It's funny you say that about Yunho at 10:43 (enjoys the mischief), because there's a joke about Yunho always being at the scene of the crime when it comes to the chaos. Sometimes he's the cause and sometimes he just observes.
    San and Wooyoung are so incredibly close, they obviously all are, but they made a duo name for themselves which is WooSan. And regarding Mingi, I'm sure other atinys could explain more, but in November of 2020 he went on hiatus and stopped promoting with the group for 8 months because of diagnosed anxiety. I think he's outgoing but a cautious outgoing.
    (Yunho is my bias, he's so incredibly random and has such a weird sense of humor but he's also very genuine. And because you know Seventeen, interestingly Mingyu is my bias, and they're both described as these tall guys that are just like golden retrievers lol)

    • @uwuface8234
      @uwuface8234 Год назад +54

      Regarding Yunho at the scene of the crime. I feel like sometimes he actually inserts himself into the chaos to redirect or mitigate it. I feel like I've seen him do it quite a lot when Wooyoung, San or Mingi get mad especially. Basically he tries to turn genuine annoyance back into gentle teasing with his presence. Like, I feel it is basically a meme that Yunho is often just staring at the other members, because he's often just quietly reading their faces and the situation.
      Like the incident in this episode when San was mad at Wooyoung (10:15). San got mad because he assumed Wooyoung was the one who had chucked his slipper, when really it had been Jongho and Yunho. So Yunho spoke up in a jokey way, and San immediately softened as he realized he had messed up. And in the next episode when Mingi was high and being chaos incarnate, I'm pretty sure Yunho went in to see what was going on in his capacity as the official Mingi whisperer -- and he dealt with the situation by laughing and lightening the mood. I've seen him insert himself in between Woosan when they were getting mad at each other while livestreaming and on stage, and try to divert their attention by being funny.
      Mingi has said that Yunho is a professional when he's on the clock, but off the clock is, quote unquote, "a very naughty boy". So on the one hand, I think he has the sort of personality that likes to see everyone having a good time and getting along. But, also, I feel he especially tries to harness his sense of humor into trying to keep it light for the cameras, in his capacity as the oldest son of the Ateez family (under Mom Seonghwa and Dad Hongjoong) and the leader of the 99 liners.

    I feel that connecting with Mingi is more difficult, you don't really know what the guy is feeling or thinking most of the time. He also has suffered from anxiety (he took a hiatus from the group for almost a year) I think he thinks a lot more and is very very self conscious, so yeah, everyone on the group treats him a little bit different because they're also taking care of him, sometimes you don't know if a joke can deeply hurt him or not. I guess that's why he's a little bit disconnected.

    It really differs from day to day who would be a target of teasing. It's probably most often Seonghwa but 9 times out of 10 he has a patience of a saint and it's very hard to embarrass him (that 1 time is an explosion of temper, but usually in a funny way).
    According to Wooyoung he basically spent a couple of years teaching San what he calls "the game of push and pull" because originally San would just sulk (he still does that sometimes but usually in a bid to get affection). TBH you can often see that as long as San is the centre of attention he doesn't mind that much if he's being teased.
    I feel like they can deal all those jabs because they know very well what areas are fair game and what is off limits, and they usually follow the jabs with compliments. Wooyoung especially makes sure to give everyone all the love they might need. He's also fiercely protective, he never hesitates to tell fans off if they cross boundaries (once he famously said that if someone hurts Seonghwa's feelings again, referring to some chatroom comments, he will bite them like a dog). There are also stories about Woo being Yeo's protector in their previous company where Yeo wasn't treated well by some of the other trainees. Oh, and that comment about being called handsome, he was actually drawing attention to the fact that nurse called Yeosang that :)
    Also, if we're talking about Woo's teasing, you should probably know that at least some of the time he does it because he famously likes being put in his place, it's a whole thing 😅
    Mingi is, well, he's strong and resilient, he's very witty and funny, but he's also very, very sensitive, sometimes fragile. He puts on a tough persona sometimes, often for entertainment purposes, but he's generally sweet, introspective, reads a lot, often emotional or romantic books. I feel that the other guys are pretty well tuned in to what kind of day is he having and what he can handle (if you watch the next episode where they wake up from anesthesia he was pretty confident, even combative :)). Him and Yunho have been friends since before they became trainees and Yunho often takes care of him.

    I've noticed that sometimes Mingi gets visibly nervous during interviews (hands shaking etc.). The others have talked about how he worries about his public image. I feel like he looks like he's regularly second-guessing himself when they're filming, tends to nervously/awkwardly force himself to try and be more exuberant or charismatic for the camera, and then beats himself up when he thinks his efforts have failed.
    Ateez are a hilarious mess really. Their old livestreams used to descend into real arguments with half of them yelling, it was hilarious. They've actually calmed down siginificantly since then but I love that they've never been shy about showing their disagreements.

  • @18becbec
    @18becbec Год назад +44

    I agree with you about Mingi being a little rough around the edges. He reminds me a LOT of Han from Stray Kids. They're both incredibly creative, driven and emotionally sensitive. They've also both struggled with anxiety enough to need to go on hiatus.
    I think most Atiny get that "I've got his back, I want to protect him" feeling you mentioned at the end - I know I do! But the more I've watched them all together, the more I've come to feel that the teasing is so important. They don't treat him like he's made of glass, and if he seems really hurt they often apologise and/or compliment him to build him up again. And when it matters, they make it SO clear that they love and value him. On Sunmi's Showterview, for example, when Mingi says he doesn't think he's essential to the group, San instantly tells him in no uncertain terms that he IS special and they need him.
    So yeah, he's a bit rough and raw. He seems to really need attention and affection. He doubts his own abilities a lot. He seems to feel things deeply, and that must hurt sometimes. He's kind and funny and loving and creative and SO hardworking, and... yeah, we love our Princess Mingi 👑

    From what I've noticed after watching Ateez for few weeks is that,
    Wooyoun is that kind of guy that makes sure that u know u are in his friends circle and he's very physically and verbally affectionate, he also has good sensitivity of other's emotions. The thing abt him is he never fakes, no matter how weird it is, he says it and doesn't shy away from being his own self, that's what I love most abt him. Wooyo seems a cheery guy which he absolutely is but he often tends to not show his inner worries much cuz i've rarely seen him telling his worries on camera, maybe he's the type to share without camera so he feels comfortable or it could just be i havn't watched enough Wooyo clips. Wooyo also is the one to bring everyone out of their shell while still making them comfortable. Yeosang said that when he first met Wooyo, it was fine but Wooyo tends to skip friendship steps as on the 3rd day, he bit Yeosang on the shoulder. He also made Hongjoon comfortable with skinship as HJ doesn't rlly like skinship unless he's the one that initiates it, but HJ has been more affectionate and touchy and HJ also said if it wasn't for Wooyo, ateez wouldn't be close like they are now.
    Mingi is a confident guy, chill and spontaneous sometimes, mostly with San. But he's also a very sensitive guy and is more emotional than he lets out to be, im sure u know but he took 8 months off cuz he had anxiety, so alot of variety shows ateez did doesn't hv Mingi. But he's back, well and fine now. And I agree, Hongjoong's the actual leader, Wooyo's social leader and Mingi is kinda like everyone's fav. Everyone adores Mingi cuz he has unconcious cuteness and childlike personality to him, they even said Mingi speaks childlike or like making his voice sound small in their dorn without realising. And also when asked members abt each other's mental age, mostly said youngest ones are Mingi and San.
    Seonghwa has a gentle personality, he has been struggling with alot of insecurities so he tries to take care of members very well, and is constantly working on the insecurities. He's the member that Wooyo and other members come to if they need comfort, the members even said that Seonghwa is like a mom while Hongjoong is like their dad, one comforts u while the other disciplines u. Seonghwa also has unique personality, kinda matching with Yeosang's, but YS has a blunt in a cheeky manner personality with ppl he's close to while Hwa has also has a cheeky personality but he isn't blunt but sometimes loves to annoy the youngsters.
    definitely

    When it comes to Mingi, I think he's really an interesting person. In one of their older vlogs Mingi argued with Yunho, I know some ppl watch it for fun, because it sounds a bit like a dumb "old married couple" argument, but for me it was interesting to look closely to them in this kind of situation. It's not a secret they're very close to each other and the tone in this argument was very serious at some points, but on the other hand it looked a lot like they tried hard to keep it unserious because it was recorded. Seeing this side of them was quite an interesting experience. Mostly because Mingi looked really offended but tried to frame it jokingly and on the other hand Yunho looked panicked, like he was sure that Mingi wasn't being playful for screentime. Idk, for me it was easy to hear in his voice, that he tried to play along but he knew the matter was actually important and they'd have to talk it out eventually. If You're interested to see - ruclips.net/video/SHHlfWsYD1c/видео.html this is the cut out of this argument. I find it hard to explain why I think this video is important to understand both of them at some points. But they seem to be kinda off guard there. I've seen people commenting that MG was kinda scary there and that Yunho looked like he was scared of him, but for me it was more like they were both scared to be recorded in a priate moment, so if we ignore their nervouses a bit, I think we can really see some of their treats there

    There is a video where Seonghwa teasingly says bad things about some members. The members were taking turns saying which member they loved recently and which member made them feel frustrated. It's hilarious and fun to see how members reacted to being chosen as being loved or found annoying. I would love your analysis. It's called ATEEZ's Latest Relationship is a Mixture of Anger, Tears, and Love.
    You mentioned Wooyoung teasing people and sometimes seeming almost mean. ATEEZ did a short series where they answered life questions and concerns from anonymous employees at their company, as well as each other. Yeosang said he wants to tease the other members more, but he worries he'll upset someone, and he wanted to stop walking on eggshells/stop being so sensitive to others feelings. Wooyoung's advice shocked me. He said Yeosang should let the other person be his guide--if he upsets someone, he can apologize and not do it again, and Wooyoung admitted that's what he did with Seonghwa. He kept track of what kind of teasing bothered Seonghwa and what didn't until he knew the line 😯. Who would have that behind all that playfulness and teasing, Wooyoung was analysing the members responses until he knew exactly what would be considered fun and what would be going to far. Here's a link to the that episode ruclips.net/video/zJWu8Ur1nGE/видео.html I think you'd find those really fun to break apart.

    My own theory is that they're trying to make up for the lost opportunities due to the hiatus by overteasing Mingi 😂😂
    More seriously, sometimes i feel like ateez are far more atuned to Mingi's feelings that we give them credit for. Cause there are days when Mingi is very reserved and not as "extroverted" as in this episode. And in those cases, the teasing is very subdued, and you'll see members make sure he feels included. For example, in their recent Seventeen interview where Mingi was more quiet, Hongjoong was obviously engaging with him and hyping him. They actually baby him quite often tbh. And I truly think him going on a hiatus affected his members more than we know. They are very vocal about being grateful for his comeback and often insinuating that the period he was absent was very tough for them, the worst for them.
    That being said, I totally understand this disconnect feeling. And it could be explained by so many things : him being the only --T- mbti, all his gimmicks (just check out his hilarious but sweet interview with Hongjoong for Punja's channel and you will understand), his notorious "overconfident, exaggerating, scaredy-cat innocent princess" side ...
    But anyway, thanks for the reaction and I need more ateez so you can learn more about the rest of the group !! 🔥

    I think it's bcs of their "maturity" comes from their family background like jongho, our maknae, he's the oldest son in his family yet seonghwa, our oldest member, is the youngest child in his family😭

    @gracewelles3799 Год назад +66

    I think that the disconnect you noticed between mini and the rest of ateez stems from him going on hiatus for 8 months due to his anxiety disorder. He went home while the rest of the group continued to promote and do activities together, which caused them to become closer as they bonded. After his hiatus Mingi seems much more mature and serious to me, though he can still be playful.

  • @moni25
    @moni25 Год назад +12

    Jongho is definitely very mature. He has a younger brother and has been in the industry since his early teenage years and has therefore more experience and is unused to being babied. Which the others love doing, especially because he doesn't really like it, he might be the youngest but he's not the typical baby of the group (that's Yeosang) and he's also not very into showing affection with physical touch or words (like saying I love you). He's indeed very savage and somehow good at everything, he's very competitive. The others definitely respect him and he loves making fun of the others and making them do funny things, giving them orders for example. He seems more serious usually and like he doesn't come out of his shell a lot bit his humor also happens quietly more often than not and goes unnoticed because he doesn't do it for the camera and just likes messing with the others.
    So seeing him hugging one of the others or just showing his affection more open is actually very sweet because he isn't too fond of it. He does get flustered quickly though when others compliment his singing for example

    What I have observed after being with Ateez from the start;
    They have very very close bond to each other. Ateez has that found family bond even. Their jokes can come off as harsh, but you can tell that they know each others boundaries and there's many instances where Wooyoung's jokes have gone too far and he has right away apologized for them.
    Mingi definitely has rougher sense of humour. Like he is prone to blowing his stories out of proportion and sometimes some people seem to misinterpret him wrong, especially when he is more laid back and not as "bubbly" as he is sometimes. But he is honestly, one of the kindest and most loving and funny members, once you get used to his way of being and can get to same wave length with him.
    What you said about Hongjoong is absolutely true. He is perfect leader and let's his members shine, while still being stern when he needs to. You can especially see it in the next episode, when the members get all high on the anesthesia. He knows how to manage the different members personalities and get them to do what needs to be done.
    Members personalities according to the tests they made:
    Extroverts; Seonghwa(ENFJ), Wooyoung(ENFJ), Yunho(ENFJ), Mingi(ENTP the only T in the group)
    Introverts; San(INFP), Hongjoong(INFP), Jongho(ISFP), Yeosang(ISFP)

    Wooyoung is the Sassy Brat of the groupe & San is known to be the Brat tamer (they're so glue to each other or talk about the other even if he's not in the room, they got a matching tattoo, they love bickering too, sometime San let Wooyoung Win & sometime he stop Woo when it's not the right time to do silly thing) They're so proud of their "Ship" Wooyoung have said multiple time that he think that WooSan is the Best ship in Ateez 🤣 & they even find a Name for their fans Duo. (they've creat their own ship name, in kpop most of the time it's the Fans who came with it but here they've done it themself).
    Hoongjoong is a really good leader most people like him with Seonghwa, they're like the Mom & Dad of the Groupe. Mingi&Yunho were friend for years before Ateez and Wooyoung&Yeosang too, Jongho look like the most reserved one but he's more the type to make the other laugh with his weird facial expression (that he does on purpose) or by doing weird thing or acting. Wooyoung & San are the most clingy in the groupe they love to Hug all the member etc.....

    If you dont already know, the two oldest Seonghwa n Hongjoong prefers to let the 99z (Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi and Wooyoung) do their thing when they are in the zone and while Jongho is the youngest, he is also the eldest in his family so his maturity n no nonsense personality kinda distances himself from the more chaotic members
    Im pretty sure the member are more "mean" n snippy towards each other here cuz they had to fast for the endoscopy, so Hangry boys + needing to be "entertaining" is just a recipe for "spicy Ateez" lol
    It shows everyones personality very well tho and i would truly appreciate you watching EP 10 cuz the boys are super hilarious 🤣

  • @moni25

    San is really sweet and while he wants the members to be taken care of, his top priority is making them laugh. Sometimes he's being very goofy and excessive just to make the boys laugh, while it usually seems like Wooyoung is the biggest reason. San is really the happiest when his jokes and antics are well-received and make the other guys laugh. That's why he often doesn't shoot back when someone makes fun of him, he wants them to be happy. He might not look like it, especially on stage, but San is very pure and innocent and is one of the few ones in the group who can keep Wooyoung in check in some moments. Compliments make him really happy and he sometimes gets really sulky when he's unhappy about something and it's honestly the cutest thing ever.
    He is the most protective of Yeosang though, he's literally his baby. Yeosang struggles with showing his love, specifically physical touch even though he does like it. San is kind of showering Yeosang in attention and ugs and tries to sneak a lot of kisses on the cheek in (similar to Wooyoung), he also recently said he tries to kiss Yeosang on the cheek every time he passes San's room.
    Yeosang is a little lost sometimes, he's quite savage and honest but also incredibly innocent and pure and really needs to be protected at all costs, which San seems to have decided as his personal mission, together with making Yeosang feel very loved and cared for

He know when to chill, or when to be stern. Throughout these years, I clearly see how the members saw HJ as their leader and they respect him for that. In terms of sense of humor jongho, yeosang are witty its very british in a way as it has strong element of satire aimed at the absurdity of the thing being discussed while jongho expresses his wit yeosang over her years has become more reserved with what he allows himself to say .Jongho is mature but he able to let go and be silly with his members, in a way them being silly goofy affords him the freedom to let go. You definitely see his goofy side more with yeosang and mingi.
    Yunho is funny/goofy one but he knows never to cross a boundary or hurt your feelings. He is hyper aware if any members needs support he definitely has leadership potential but also like hongjoong knows how to step back and let others be in the spotlight. Yunho is a great mentor
    wooyoung and san have similar sense of humor which is teasing each other as a way of showing affection and its no surprise they are so close. San definitely has the most emotional intelligence in the group. The only person who can give it back to wooyoung in terms of teasing is witty yeosang . wooyoung is one to remember the most things about members , their likes dislikes
    Having being around kpop for a while and seeing hongjoong's growth as leader I have to say he is right choice for the group. As a leader he has no qualms taking the back seat and letting another member take the spot light. He is very aware of the members if he sees someone is left out of the conversation due to everyone talking he steps in and asks that member to put forward their point. Hongjoong always acknowledges how each member helps, their hard work especially and what they add to the group dynamic how they have helped him. hongjoong really knows how to connect with people that is more visible in his stage and fan interactions. hongjoong isn't hesitant to say sorry if he thinks he has mistake and hurt anyone feelings. hongjoong reminds me of david bowie as a personality
    Mingi is intelligent that is evident from the letters he wrote for members and his lyrics and sensitive person who doesn't really believe in teasing someone as a form of affection. He is funny and is really does well in communicating with fans but members are aware of his anxiety and know the kind of day he is having and know how go about it. Mingi is a serious guy.
    Seonghwa is funny and has a sense of humor like san and wooyoung but because he is the responsible for keeping everyone in check in a way he ends up holding him self back just to keep the choas in check. Seonghwa is one who bridges the communication gap between members.

    Seonghwa, besides being insanely beautiful, is also THE comfort person for the guys, like the Mom of the group. He always supports them all and has their backs. They will go to him to tattle on each other, especially Wooyoung. San attends everyone of Seonghwa's VLives and unconditionally supports everything he does. Wooyoung loves to cuddle him, whether he appreciates it or not. Yunho is glued to him whenever he can get close to him (so much competition), Yeosang appreciates Hwa's calm and easy nature, when he needs a break from the chaos that is Ateez. Mingi loves the full attention he can get from his favorite Hyung and Hongjoong really depends a lot on Seonghwa and is just a tad possessive of him - he even wrote him a song called 'Thank you', it is really a touching homage from the usually cool or grumpy leader. Jongho is the most quiet and reserved member, but does appreciate Seonghwa's attention and care a lot. For all these reasons and his ongoing love and care for all of them, Seonghwa is my #1 in Ateez.

    they were all definitely ramped up this episode. As someone else said, they had been fasting but even more than that this was a health exam (just before a tour too I believe). So what happens if they don't 'pass' it? They get benched to recover and left behind while the rest of the team goes on? KQ doesn't seem to mess around with their teams' health (San's 'exam' was so fast because I suspect he would have lied his butt off to stay with the team). They were nervous as crap. I've never seen so much leg bouncing among them. There were so many fidget toys being created to play with. They were huddled even closer together physically on those chairs than normal. Seonghwa was getting passed around like the team's security blanket (which he is). They were all on edge pretending they weren't. It absolutely influenced their interaction and it shows what a solid team they are that it only cropped up in little ways.

I remember on one of the lives they had, Mingi teased Seonghwa of not knowing Seonghwa’s character’s name in a drama he was casted in because he had only a few screen time and it was an unmemorable thing for him. But they made up quickly but ATEEZ knows Mingi’s way of humor so they let it slide. But from that moment, I could see he is being more cautious with his words.

He still keeps the group in check but not as obviously and loudly as Hongjoong does. Manners are really important to Seonghwa. There is a moment in Kingdom (a competition show) where Wooyoung was talking informally and quite loudly to and about Changbin (his best friend) and Seonghwa reminded him quietly to tone it down and speak formally because it wasn't a private setting and Stray Kids debuted before Ateez, so technically Changbin would be Wooyoung's sunbaenim and because the wide public doesn't know they are closed Seonghwa was afraid Wooyoung would come off as rude

    Mingi can come off as a rougher person in his personality, but he's honestly just clumsy. His sense of humor is also more about saying things while looking serious (without being actually serious) which, to people who don't know him, can give the wrong idea. But while he likes to come off as a goof sometimes, he's honestly a very deep person who has very wise words, and who would definitely notice if he's truly hurt one of the members. I just think he knows the limits of each one of them very well and he plays within them, unlike Wooyoung who likes to challenge those limits. Because Mingi doesn't play with the limits, he doesn't make it as clear when he's joking, simply because he knows that what he's saying will pass as jokes.
    There's also the fact that Mingi's the only thinker of the team, not a feeler (in mbti). It inevitably challenges the dynamic in the group, but definitely for the good. When he was absent of promotions for health reasons, it was easy to see how impacted the members were. Mingi's a pillar in a different way than Hongjoons, San and Wooyoung are. He helps rationalize. He talks more his mind, in all honesty, no humor or whatever to back it up, and therefore incites the others to do so.
    Wooyoung's and Mingi's personalities both clash quite a lot, and it results in arguments here and there (the members' claims, not mine!) but I personally think he likely balances Wooyoung's energy that way. Both of them can get to arguing quite easily, and so the fact that they do it together must help burn off some steam!

    Mingi is the only T (mbti) in the group, I think that plays a big part in his communication and banter with the guys, like you said he’s not as polished with his teasing bc he doesn’t feel the conversation but more just analyzes the words that are being said. I feel like mingis tone also plays a big part, when he speaks its kind of flat toned I guess, where wooyoung tone changes a looot when he speaks, and that gives a more playful vibe.

    I’m new to ATEEZ as well and find them like a more severe version of SEVENTEEN lol. Very honest and loving, but not scared to tease you to hell and back.

    He says something about wooyo, immediately he says "but Mingi too..." Now we know who's his bias and wrecker 😂

    I think Mingi is a bit like a dog that still thinks he's the size of a puppy, sometimes words leave his brain but he doesn't realise how they're coming across/the connotations of them but his members are aware that he doesn't mean it that way... I think he finds it hard to articulate his thoughts sometimes but that's why he's so loveable 🥲 he triggers the protective instincts in us all haha

    I kind of get what you mean about Mingi. Like it's so different seeing him as a beast on the stage and when he's rapping but when he's like off stage and with the members he's awkward and he becomes a "punching bag" for the other members. He has like a confident persona, which I feel is more for funny and entertaining moments but in reality he's sensitive and introverted. I think that's kind of where he clashes on camera. Like he wants to be outgoing and funny like Wooyoung, but sometimes he just doesn't know how to because he's not used to it. I don't really know how to explain it but I guess his hiatus and his anxiety is a reason for his energy in front of the camera as well.

    All those you said are mischievous i.e. yunho, wooyoung, seonghwa, mingi are extroverts so no surprise there they enjoy and initiate it. Hongjoong, Jongho, yeossang and san are introverts and are rarelly the one to start the mischief.

    Wooyoung and San are besties. I think that's why Wooyoung likes to tease him the most.

    Spot on observations again Max. Apologies in advance for my essay.
    We forget that Ateez is a young group. They didn’t train for very long before debuting and hitting the big times. For a four year old group, Mingi was absent for a quarter of the time during their most crucial stage at the beginning of the lockdowns. Before that Yunho was pretty much his bestie and Yunho is the defacto leader of the group in Joong’s absence.
    During his absence Yunho and the rest bonded during their trial by fire and really gelled with the drama and Kingdom and the competitions. It was hard for him to fit back in. And they treated him with kid gloves for a bit, he even has his own separate room. Aand that only made him even more self conscious since they razzed each other out like crazy. Now they over compensate 😂. Mingi is doing better now making friends with others and not being so clingy about Yunho. Dude was so awkward on camera when Mingi called his out for not making effort to be with Ming. Yunho seems to be the classic eldest son, big brother type. Protective leadership when necessary but always ready for mischief and laughter any time. In the many videos I’ve seen, the guys seem more likely to quiet down quickly when Yunho gets stern/serious even compared to HongJoong. Mingi seems to veer between wanting to prove himself and wanting to be babied by Yunho and the rest.
    Jongho is the only eldest son in his family who apparently are pretty high up socially. Off camera he has been said to be open to being silly but on camera he seems to be mindful of his conduct.
    Woo young was best friends with Yeosang for years and he plays the protective role but with San he seems to let loose. And San I think he’s very comfortable in his own skin that he doesn’t mind letting them have fun at his expense. Same with his roommate.
    Probably due to the fact that they all know he can beat them to a pulp same way Jongho can snap anyone in half. Woo young iand Mingi are actually very polite and respectful outside of their savage joking ways. Both will instantly apologise if you let them know you’re hurt and they do it sincerely without qualifications. I do think they let Mingi be savage because they think he’s an adorable big baby, and they’re extra careful with his needs. He is very sweet and kind to a fault.
