I realized all my growth from brokenness, has happened as a result of things others have done to me or that have simply happened. I am learning to break myself instead, and recreate myself out of my broken pieces that I have chosen.

@@francineleach6841 I am in the similar phase now and can identify with your words. Wisdom is often found in the book, in own experience and the answers are within us. There is one interesting saying I've heard long time ago. I don't remember exactly how it goes, but thought is something like this: ,,Maybe who you have become is not who you are supposed to be. It's not about who you have become because of what they (people, society, bad experiences, pain, etc..) made you to be, but about UNLEARNING everything you knew in order to find real you." I think the real answer is hidden in how we were when we were kids - before life knocked us down, before we started to listen to adults more (who are lost as we are..) and less our inner voice, in things that made us happy and hopeful. I think answers are there.

10 life lessons from Friedrich Nietzsche.
    1. Be a harmonious totality. " One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star. " Each of us have two main sides to our personality: a rational, conscious and responsible (Apollonian side) & Instinctual subconscious and emotional (Dionysian side). One has to balance both to have a happy life. It is a balance between organized, responsible and logical life & artistic, creative and emotional life.
    2. Avoid having a reactive life. " Most humans distract their thoughts, to cease to be aware of life." Be brave enough to face the reality and fight the obstacles. Stop being a passive spectator and take our lives in our own hands.
    3. Avoid holding resentments. " To be incapable of taking one's enemies, one's accidents, even one's misdeeds seriously for very long- that is the sign of strong, full natures in whom there is an excess of the power to form, to mold, to recuperate and to forget." Resentment is a poison and slave mentality that can consume us deeply. When somebody becomes a threat, take the immediate and necessary steps against that person and afterwards move on, forget and do not keep any resentment. Avoid arguing for your limitations and keep going towards your goals. Build yourself up instead of complaining.
    4. Don't blindly follow the masters. "Don't just swallow the wisdom of the past masters of philosophy. Rather, strive to build your own path appreciate the masters from the past. But don't just follow them blindly." 3 paths- crossroads.
    5. Find your WHY. "He who has a "Why" is life can tolerate any how." Look at the mirror and see whether you are able to feel respect to yourself. If so then you have a why to live.
    6. Suffering can make you stronger. "One that can't distroy me, makes me stronger." Each events of life teach you something new.
    7. Avoid being just busy. "Men fall into two groups, slaves and freemen. Whoever does not have 2/3rd of his day for himself is a slave."
    8. Live dangerously.🔥
    9. Become a superhuman. Be a bridge.
    10. Happiness - Say yes to the valuable.

this philosophy is great if your rich,,,,,,,,,,,,but if you have nothing and you have a medium IQ or lower one, you have to support yourself and get a job, most likely you will not be able to choose what kind of work you will take. most people have to work to support themselves and if everyone just quits there job and wanders off to dreamland their lives will be far worse and jobs will disappear. then who is the smart one, the one who kept his job and supported his family. how about responsibility, and commitment? these philosophers are full of shit and most come from money. great way to destroy a country. existentialism will not put food on your childs table, unless your rich.

These are great tips, but remember Nietzsche also gave us a warning. He knew the imperfection of humans and how deeply prone to bad ideas we are, and when left to creating our own justifications we are capable of tremendously evil acts and self-centerdness. Therefor have something good outside of yourself to keep your actions and behavior just.

Wonderful ideals from my great great uncle 🙂 I went through all of my childhood and teenage years asked by various teachers and professors if I was related to Friedrich. It wasn’t until my early twenties that my Grandfather told us that we were direct relatives, and when he moved to Canada, he dropped the “Z” from our name so he wouldn’t be associated with Nietzsche. My Grandfather felt rather uncomfortable knowing that people might associate him with these, in his terms “crazy ideals”. So, pleasantly surprised, my maiden name is Nietsche. Even now, at nearly 75, I approach life much like Nietzche has outlined. I only really get angry with those who can never trust investing in others who are different , who are not just like them. We learn by empowering others. Trust is not always verified, but those who fail to see happiness as a process that always includes others, risks investing in others, are typically pretty boring and unsuccessful, walking dead, never very happy.

Good overview, but Nietzsche missed the mark by a mile. I bet he often went to bed sad and distraught, but was too much of a coward to experience true intimacy. This philosphy is really nothing more than mental gyrations of an "image first" life. Had he lived in 2020, he would be "ordinary" with perhaps the world's longest facebook page. Superhuman, my #ss. Nietzsche is a bridge to nowhere, a genuine downward spiral. Just stumble forward in the dark and then convince yourself your closed loop with no truly meaningful feedback is happiness worth repeating ad infinitum. Seems like a long winded way of saying I stopped believing in God and really feel horrible about it, but will find a way to rationalize away my despair, and to call evil good. No restraints for me. What happens when his own kids tell him he's a #sshole and want nothing to do with him. There Will Be Blood.

At the end of the day, Nietzsche acted in contradiction of his own philosophy. That's a big "F" for failure. I think his popularity stems from others' needs to justify (pseudo-intellectually) their own bad behaviors and destructive (anti-life) desires. We can align our desires with the truth (life) or seek to shape truth to our desires (failure, mental illness, and death).

How do you accept the person the way they are and also "take the immediate and neccessary steps against that person"? That occurs to me as a contradiction, and a waste of energy. If someone hurt you with their words, you allowed those words to hurt you. You were at the effect of those words and chose to give that individual power over you. It would be more effective to either transform your listening of that individual or to simply move on with your life.

    • @francineleach6841
      @francineleach6841 2 года назад +1

I think the, “accept the person the way they are” part, indicates that you can see that clearly (because instead of acting in emotion, your view is one of a logical standpoint). Therefore, you’re inclined to simply allow them to be exactly who they are. Afterwards, you reflect upon that scenario or situation, and determine from there which way to go. You can decide to forgive, and continue accepting that person in your life, knowing full well how they often act out or react to things; OR you can decide that their behavior or reaction was not healthy for themselves and/or you, and choose to walk away from that person and their toxic behavior. Does that make sense?

2022-03-03: I am a Christian, not just nominally,
    and before considering Nietzsche seriously
I had been believing and living most of these things
    as a somewhat iconoclastic believer.
But when I read Nietzsche I still find him difficult to grasp
and i find him more bitter and judgmental than what this presentation advocates.
But I started out first with reading ‘The Anti-Christ” and miscellaneous snippets,
    and second hand commentaries etc.
Presentations like this are very helpful.
My friend who is an atheist and very well versed in Nietzsche
strongly recommends reading Nietzsche first before anybody’s comments.
But I am a Cliffs Notes, Dummies, type learner. Also somewhat lazy.
With all that said, I find the bulk of 10 items in this presentation
compatible with my personal style of Christianity,
but I wonder how Nietzschean this really is.
To me Apollonian (or Apollonian) is pretty much Left Brain,
and Dionysian is pretty much Right Brain.
Makes it much simpler and easier than what I get when I start reading
and trying to grasp the first chapter of “The Birth of Tragedy”.
I think annotated versions of Nietzsche’s books might be helpful.
    Maybe there are such things.,
    Thanks for posting.

We don't live in a vacuum. (Aristotle had a lot to say about that) While the video is great. I think it's too naive. Especially the part about creating an Us vs Them mentality. In your mind as a source of motivation... Ppl who call themselves Objectivists and not Philosophers. Had a lot to say about that as well.

"Apollonian side" - rational, responsible, it means they are distructive ( apollo = to destroy in greek) ?

The video did a significantly bad job at describing what Nietzsche meant when he talked about apollo and dionysus. he never even described them as “sides”. the essence of the gods apollo and dionysus as they’re properly taught is what he really meant, and it was NEVER meant to be tied to things like cleaning your house and paying bills or “going for a walk or painting” as Dionysus. Also, he favored Dionysus over Apollo

Really? Nietzsche? Where is the part where Nietzsche thinks women are property and the suffering of the masses is trivial etc. How do you reconcile that with the selective list above? This reads like a Tony Robbins self help video

At 10:00 the narrator starts to talk about being "proud of yourself". I disagree with this because a couple of things I've discovered is that the sense of self and free will are both illusions. Once you've truly realized this, you can't be "proud of yourself" or be proud of anyone else.

They aren't illusions. You discovered nothing. Sorry to break it to you

Odd thing to say from someone who likes their own comment. What a lonely, lonely like it will always be. Perhaps you are correct about yourself after all, just not everyone else. Please, do be nothing. It suits you.

Existentialism says to live or individual experience with freedom of responsibility determining their development through acts of will. But doesn't contemporary philosophy say free will is an illusion ?

    • @biancaszasz820
      @biancaszasz820 4 года назад

You have a point there, but contemporary philosophy doesn't say free will is an illusion, but rather that it must be put in a proper context. We have a very limited amount of free will and free will is a faculty which is more developed in some people than in others, depending on the biological inheritance.

It’s odd to see this video. I am 48 and have been more successful than I ever thought I would be. I go through my day doing exactly what I enjoy most and that is interacting with people. I can honestly say I meet people for a living and that isn’t work at all. What this makes me think is that I am comfortable and because of that I haven’t challenged myself in years. Guess my new goal is to take risks. Write a book, perfect a stand up routine and start a RUclips channel in no particular order.
