Awesome Kit, I saw poison when you guys were in Perth, Australia back in 1987, it was my first ever concert. I was 12 years old. What a show!! I remember my ears were ringing the whole next day. Poison have been my favourite band ever since. God I hope you guys come back to Australia one day so I can relive the best concert I’ve ever been to.
Keep up the awesome work legend 🤘
I’ve played Yamaha for over 30 years. Currently play a 2002 Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute and it’s still my most versatile go-to kit. I’ve also had DW gear and both companies produce reliable gear. I’m sure DW would admit Yamaha is a great drum maker too. Congratulations!
Sweet looking kit! Can't wait to hear it. Congratulations!
Those look bad ass!!! Love the black shells!!! Can't wait to hear what you do with them🤘🥁
Those drums are GORGEOUS!!!! Can't wait to hear you playing them
What a pretty kit man! Can't wait for the next video!
wow those look really F'n good Can't wait to hear ya play them. Also. A Shout out to everyone at DFO and Drummerworld for calling it. You guys are good.
Amazing kit. When I played Yamaha was all I played. Can’t wait to hear them.
I have had Yamaha since 1995. I still love them.
I love my Yamaha drums. Excited you switched! Can’t wait to see more about them.
I love the finish on that kit! 👍
Yamaha has always made incredible drums AND hardware.
The total package.
They were the most requested brand when I was working for Backline Rentals… We had 5/6 sets of the Recording Customs. Great choice.
I almost replied Yamaha last time. Damn. They say your first instinct is usually correct. I could not get a good look at the lugs, which Rickki would’ve known was the giveaway. Beautiful kit.
Oak? Those Yamaha Oak are Fantastic. Great Depth and punch! Looks great! Excellent choice.
Yamz sound great on every stage! Bravo!
Awesome! Congratulations man! Beautiful kit!!!
Awesome kit!!! 🤘🏼
Holy crap! Your drums have always been incredible and this one is no different! I am truly in love with that finish. Still think the other bass drum should sit in that vacant space, but that's just me!
The live custom oak kit is soooo cool!! Good choice by you man! 🤟🔥
SWEET!!! 😃🥁🎶 Love Yamaha drums!!!
Bravo! My oldest son is a drummer and he has several different kits. The Yamaha is his favorite and that's what he uses when he plays live. They sound awesome and he loves the Yamaha hardware.
Gray is my color. Those drums are freakin beautiful! 🤘🤘
Nice man.. looks great. Can’t wait to hear it. 🤘👍
Love the new drums..hoping to hear new Poison recordings.
Yamaha, a brilliant choice! Top tier drums AND hardware.
Cool! Yamaha uses a machine to help age the wood to achieve a better tone. Although I think many companies have adopted it but think Yamaha was one of the first! Congratulations and thanks for sharing!!!
Beautiful kit.
She looks puuurdy! Can't wait for the deets, type of wood, how many layers and why you chose them. Rock On!!
Great choice!
Wow Rikki….very nice!!! I half expected to see a Tama Star kit but very nice choice. I hope the new partnership serves you well!!! Rock On!!!!
Yamaha make amazing sounding drums and I've always loved their tom mounts. Good choice.
Awesome, Mr Rockett! Yamaha makes amazing drums. Guys like Gadd, Weckl, Aldridge, and Katche have been faithful to Yamaha for decadeZ!!! Great choice! And it waZ a bit surprising... I wasn't expecting that particular company! I kinda thought Tama Drums would be your switch, but I ALWAYS loved Yamaha Drums --both their acoustic AND electronic drumZ are amazing... I especially love their electronic drum kitZ👍👍👍🤘🤘🤘🥁🥁🥁
Cant go wrong with Yamaha. Few drum manufacturers sweat the details like they do. A quality set.
Yamaha was my guess!!! absolutely solid pick. the drums look AMAZING!!!!!
I had a feeling it was gonna be yamaha, played a Yamaha snare in school. Kit looks awesome, can't wait to hear you play
Went with the new oak yammies. Phenolic middle ply. Great rock drums no doubt. Congrats. Yamaha makes Probly the most solid hardware around too. Excellent
Wow, did not expect that! Rock on brother!! \m/
Beautiful kit!
beautiful kit.
Yamaha’s are killer sounding drums.
Good choice
I’ve been study you since “Open Up”. I just knew Yamaha was going to fit your style and sound requirements! Hell, their Logo is 3 tuning forks! Can’t wait to hear them!!
I play at a place called OLE RED In Gatlinburg, Tn and their backline kit is a Yamaha absolute maple kit. It’s grown on me every time I play it. The one in Nashville has oak customs that are probably my favorite drums to hear and play. Super excited for you, and to see somebody of your level do this! 🤘🏼
Great choice!!!
The kit looks great. Nice finish. I can't wait to hear you slap the skins
Beautiful set.
Super cool! 🇨🇦👍🏼
I’ve had a Yamaha maple custom absolute (Made by Sakae) and a Sakae almighty birch and love them both. You can’t go wrong with this choice.
Almighty Birch For the Win!
Good Video I hope to see you in Concert one day again in Kansas City Missouri I got a Poison Band T Shirt from My mom for Christmas This Year I first saw you guys in 2018 with Def Leppard and Telsa and I saw you guy's last Year in 2022 at Kansas City Missouri Kaufman Stadium for the Stadium Tour
Duuuude...!!!! Excellent choice. Way better than DW, in my opinion. Epic projection and attack. I can't wait to hear you play those beauties. Congrats...!!!
Beautiful kit! I would love to see a video showing all of the tour kits you still have.
Wow. I figured you were going back to Pearl or moving to Mapex. Yamaha makes great drums! I can’t wait to hear the story on why you ultimately chose Yamaha and more on the set you chose! 🤘
Mapex was my 1st guess; Yamaha was my 2nd.
@@Wishpool I called Chris Adler and had a conversation about Mapex, but ultimately Yamaha made more sense.
I thought it was slingerland myself...i never guess right.
@@stevestevenson289 Slingerland was bought by DW, but they have yet to release anything.
I was hoping not Pearl!
Great choice Rikki, Yamaha are top quality drums 👍👍
When it comes to reliability, sturdyness, ease of use and longevity whilst not being overengineered, Yamaha Hardware is stellar! I owned several Yamaha kits over the decades and they just xxxxing work and never let You down. Excellent choice.
I totally get that. Yamaha makes some spectacular drums. The RC's and the Maple Custom's from back in the 90's always just knocked me out. And their hardware is superb.
How beautiful they are 😍
Yamaha! I knew it!! Great choice!
Given a choice to go with a drum kit and price being no object I believe I’d go with Yamaha. That kit is awesome! Love the color. I would’ve gone Sabian but it’s hard to find their cymbal packs here u less I order them. I like to hear the cymbals prior to buying so I went with Zildjian K Sweets. Their packs were available where I am and I was also able to purchase extra crashes.
Can't go wrong with Yamaha. After having not even sitting behind a kit for well over a decade, I decided to look into entry-level kits for purely casual recreation. To my out-of shape ears, the Yamaha Stage Custom sounded like it was punching above it's price class (under $800 for a 5-piece shell kit, 6-ply birch and the YESS mounts), and the honey amber looked beautiful. Granted, you're probably not going to be headlining arenas with this particular kit, but it is certainly above expectations for casual playing, a new drummer's first kit, playing clubs, etc. Especially with the sound you get at this price point. Even more-so when you upgrade the heads.
Great choice! I had a Yamaha power hoop snare back in high school and absolutely loved it. Sad part is I left it out in the van all night after a gig and it warped in the cold. Was never able to tune it right after that. I miss it dearly. The finish was black with a blue sparkle in it. I would love to find another one just like it
You did the right thing!
A great choice for sure!
Ha ha. Straight to the point. Love it.
Love it yamaha makes great gear I have a live oak custom snare along with my birch custom set that oak snare has always been my go to snare the wood and the sound is amazing
Those are beautiful.
@THE POISON DRUMMER Rikki, I frankly do not care about _what_ drums you use; to me, you are still the *best* drummer in the world, no questions asked.
Been waitin for this. Niiiice
Wow I really didn’t see that coming at all. I figured Pearl as well. I had that kit in the same colour and loved it.
Nice choice! Yamaha makes quality gear.
Hell Yeah ! Congrats. Was hoping for Sonor or Yamaha
AWESOME Rikki!!!
What series are they? Hoping they are PHX or Live Custom? Can’t wait to see next vid, hope you do a complete full walk thru from step one to you throwing down one of your best grooves! Awesome color, like that, love your channel!!!
Great company 👌
Yamaha live custom hybrid 👍
Great choice 🤘
I didn’t see that coming. Sweet kit
WOW that's beautiful ❤️
Sick lookin kit, can't wait to hear them. love the look. how do they sound mic'ed up? need to do much with the sound coming thru?
Amazing choice! I had a Yamaha rock tour kit definitely one of the best sounding kits ive played so punchy and easy to tune🖤🧡🖤 looking forward to a demo video🤘🤘
Couldn't agree more!
@@ThePoisonDrummer Rikki you gotta get a custom paint on this sucker.. Hope you do !!
I’ve been a fan since ‘86. You’ve been rocking DW since ‘88. I’m sure it was a difficult decision but Yamaha make quality gear. It would be great to see you play a bit on them.
Right on Rikki. Yamaha is solid, along with your Sabians!
As a Sonor guy, those are absolutely stunning.
Another Sonor guy here, with Lites, Phonics and S Class.... and I'm just about to sell away my gigging drums, Oak customs away. What a coincidence 😅
@@seppoinnanen5577 Those are nice. I have the SQ2 Maple Medium Blue Sparkle with Black Chrome hardware.
@@SonorGeek05 Allright, sounds good 🤟🤟
Yup ..Yamaha is my next kit. Great choice 👍
Nice! I know Jim Haler at Yamaha. He's on the sales side and we meet up when he's in Utah for trainings at Musician's Friend. Those will kick ass. The aluminum Recording Custom snare in 6.5 is on my radar.
Oh wow dude! Yamaha rocks!! A friend had a few sets, and I was always impressed with the floor toms. They really growl and have sustain for days. Which series did you decide to go with and why? Enjoy that kit, I know I would.
Was hoping it was Rogers brother. ;) ... but congrats and well wishes on a new beginning !!!
This is fantastic
I love Rogers! I have a 1969 kit and lots of snare drums, but the new Rogers don't really have tour worthy hardware or much of a shell selection. What they do have is really great.
Yamaha has some of the best hardware period !!!!
Great choice Rikki!!!!
What made you go “all in” on Yamaha?
Way To GO!!!
I had a feeling it was Yamaha after you posted a picture of the Yamaha snare last week. Best wishes from Northeast Pennsylvania.
Yes, but I have had that drum since like 1988.
Bummed it wasn't my favorite brand, but those look awesome. Can't wait to hear them! Hope they bring you what you wanted in change.
What is your favorite brand?
@@ldcsam1 Ludwig
@@petersantulli2337 I have 4 Ludwig snares myself.
I have a 14x5 COB I bought new in 1999. The other 4 I have acquired in the last 5 yrs. or so. Those 4 all have the new throw-off and are all 14x6.5. I have a BB, a Classic Maple in Green Sparkle and 2 LM-402's, one with imperial lugs and the other is HH w/tube lugs. I absolutely love them all. What do you have?
Great choice. Yamaha makes some really nice drums. I noticed Robert Sweet from Stryper is back with Yamaha after making the rounds to a few other smaller companies the past few years/tours!
Damn sweet bro👍👍👍👍
They are pretty ❤ 🥁
Those look sharp, can't wait to hear you play them. I'd love to hear how they'd sound on a song from the "Native Tongue" album. Maybe the title track or "Strike Up The Band" or my personal fav "Ride Child Ride?"
Is that kit just for the home or will it go on the road?
Any chance of a "Glitter For Your Soul" volume two since a Poison 2023 tour looks very doubtful? *biting tongue"
I don't care what you're playing, as long as you keep rocking!
sweet!!!!
Yesssssss! 😆.... I had that feeling when I heard the kiick in the last video ! Great man! I thoght, no, he surely changes to Lu... or Gr... I hoped it was Lu... but that is a great choice man! But .... ahhh.... theeee.... surface ? I mean, I know you since 86,´that is not a typical Poison finish right? Looks a bit like grandma´s living room! Or are you.... I mean.... are you getting.... ahh.... old? 🤣🤣🤣 Anyway, great choice man!
yamaha 9000 recording custom....one of the greatest things I've ever played
Great choice Rikki! Solid drums with a great sound. I assume they'll get a poison makeover!? All the best with them.
Probably not this kit, but in the future.
Knew it. You could just see one of the floor tom lugs well enough to do a deep dive on all of the different manufacturers lugs. That shape plus black finish matched up with the Oak Hybrids perfectly. Hard to go wrong with Yamaha.
