- Sister acting/singing duo Aly & AJ -- whose full names are Alyson and Amanda Joy Michalka -- showed a passion for both kinds of performing at a very young age: they started playing piano at age six and began acting classes soon after. Born in L.A., the Michalkas moved to Seattle in the early '90s, where their parents exposed them to a wide variety of music and supported their excitement about both acting and making music. As the girls learned piano and guitar, they also landed acting and modeling gigs, which prepared them to pursue both amazing careers. Now Aly & AJ dropped by to BUILD to speak on their latest EP, "Ten Years."

Whenever someone mention 78Violet to them, they've sort seem to back off, like they don't want to dig into the past. 78Violet was a good era for them, well to me personally - Hothouse, 53rd Floor, and 8 Hours was my go-to JAM!!!!
I don't think it a confusion to what Aj said, My thoughts are that they've wanted to come back with a different style and they worked hard on creating 78viloet / Hothouse Album, they even promoted the songs and even had gigs. maybe when the album got leaked online, their hard work just became nothing. I just wish they've could have released it.

Also, last year they gave copies to their sanctuary club fans limited vinyl of the unrealesed record of 78Violet.

Can't wait for the new album! Love hearing them break down their whole music process. AJ words everything so beautifully, Aly needs to let her talk more, Aly seems to try so hard to be artsy/deep with her answers that she seems to lose her train of thought & doesn't really end up answering the question lol 🤔

The song they showed I think was a little simplistic in terms of sound and lyrics but that's probably just how they do things, though for the first video since they were kids I guess is fine, not great but fine.
