Brother, Technically speaking, Digital coaxial is superior to optical. HDMI comes first, second place goes to Coaxial and third optical. Please do a reasearch on why.

If for time being we are connecting laptop to home theater via this decoder using aux cable, will we get somewhat surround sound / better sound than if we directly connect laptop to home theater using Bluetooth? 2. After doing this I did get dolby digital surround sound from my 5.1 speakers. Regarding second question, I bought the device from Amazon India. The first device shipped was faulty. I hope it shall put my problem to rest. I was in a lookout for 5.1 surround sound, for cinematic experience. In my long pursuit for the same, I stumbled upon this fantastic device. As you might be knowing, the budget Home Theatre Systems (not the amp) do not have HDMI Arc or Optical SPDIF and all. So, we have to make these make shift arrangements. Alternatively, a good DVD player does the job(5.1 surround sound output) flawlessly. But, those were the bygone days. Now, we have OTT. By the way, I still have a doubt. I have an MI TV Box 4K. Your mi box also has dolby and multichannel support, so in my opinion it should give you the desired 5.1 surround sound effect. Rest you need to try it out and please do share with me the results.
