I appreciate your opinion and personal preferences. It would be boring if everyone liked the same things. Personally, I really love the way Deep Purple take their music to another level (and direction) live through improvisation and jamming. I’m also amazed at how well the album has stood the time - it doesn’t sound dated at all. Two years later in California Jam during the performance of ”Space Truckin’” Ritchie ended up smashing a TV camera with his guitar after getting annoyed by a cameraman who kept getting too close. Later, Ritchie signaled to the roadies to douse his amplifiers with gasoline and set them on fire. Of course, this caused a (larger than expected) explosion on stage.
“Lazy” is also an absolute masterpiece 💎 ... Rock - Blues is awesome!! Deep Purple has a lot of good songs...especially from 1969-1975. ... Personally, I like the studio version better! 🎸🎹🥁🎤 Thank You

Take the journey Deeper and give a listen to the Deep Purple majestic and melodic instrumental Son of Alerik -a masterclass in musicianship / pure magic (you will not be disappointed) - live music in this case without context of the time or actually being there plus no visuals can lose the listener who isn`t following a particular band
You are spot on IMO. When I first heard this album I was a teenager in the mid 70's. At the time it was exciting and full of energy but I wouldn't listen to it now as it is of its time, remember being disappointed as Black Night live wasn't on it but was on a single if I remember.
For them to say, and I respect their opinion that the pathetic band he saw in his town was better than they performed lazy and space trucking. It’s totally ridiculous. The band was improvising and enjoying themselves and showing their talents on stage absolutely nothing wrong with it, and that keyboard passage during space trucking was phenomenal.. along with paices drumming everybody was firing all at once.. and for rock fans who are a fan of this band will absolutely love that today.

Unfortunately, you see this sort of excess in many live performances in the late 60's and 70's.
So just play it down the line, exactly as it appears on the album. Wouldn't want to disappoint our fans.
I know what you mean about Lazy - it's definitely too long. Glad you covered main in Japan..Great players but vocalist Ian Gillan makes it go ..
Too long? No it's just the perfect length.
No way, José. The intro is over 6 minutes long before Gillan comes in. And the band are playing so tight! Blues rock don't get better than this.
