    On my 2015 the rear caliper froze up at about 90K miles and needed to be replaced. Also at about 120K one of the slide pins froze up I had to use a 5lb hammer and pound it about 30 times to get it out. You should check the slide pins grease every year. Also if you are cleaning out the bracket where the slide pins go into remove the rubber boot first. I didn't and put it in a parts washer and it grew to twice its normal size due to the solvent.

    I have a 2016 CX-5 that falls into that rear-caliper/EPB module fiasco TSB (R052/16C). We do have brake pulsation, especially at higher speeds when braking, and the pads on the rear are in need of replacement according to a Mazda tech. Could we need the updated rear calipers from the TSB along with pads and rotors? How do you determine if the rotors in the front or the rear need replacement?

    • @AndyTheXTech
      @AndyTheXTech  7 месяцев назад

      if you replace the pads you should replace the rotors. some times if you feel the pulsation/vibration in the steering wheel then its coming from the front and if you feel it in the seat its from the rear.

      @@AndyTheXTech how should I determine if the rear calipers are dragging stated in that TSB? It sounds like the way thought it was the EPB module for a while but turns out the rear calipers are the culprit. If one pad on each caliper is worn more than the other?

    • @AndyTheXTech
      @AndyTheXTech  7 месяцев назад

      @@on1ytheb3st you could try with the wheels off the ground, pump the brake pedal a couple times then get out and try to turn the wheels. If there binding up or stuck then there is something causing it at that wheel.

    • @on1ytheb3st
      @on1ytheb3st 7 месяцев назад

      @@AndyTheXTech Its apparently the EPB actuator on the rear calipers that causes the dragging. Creates a situation when you deactivate the parking brake, the pressure from the actuator isn't relieved completely. I guess I'll lift the rear and actuate the parking brake, then deactivate it and see if I can spin the wheels.
      They should spin completely freely right? Do I need both rear wheels to be off the ground to see if the rear wheel spins freely?

    • @K03sport
      @K03sport 4 месяца назад

      @@on1ytheb3st temperature and pad thickness difference. If the pads are dragging, there will be a greater increase in temperature compared to non-dragging pads. 2nd, a dragging pad (stuck slide pins), one of the pads will be thinner than the other. Pads are supplied to wear evenly (equal pressure), but if the caliper is stuck then one pad (inner) could be thinner than the other.
