There is definitely a difference in the recording quality of each. Silver BG Duo sounds great for soloing; it cuts through indeed. Gold-plated BG Duo sounds like a wonderful choice for studio recording of music in controlled environment; it's focused, nuanced, rounded. Black BG Duo sounds like an excellent choice for the orchestral work / clarinet section. And of course, this was a wonderful demo by Simon Bates.
I play BG B3 with V12 number 3 reeds and It works! I'll also try V21 number 3 soon. It should be advertised as working with number 3 reeds as well in my opinion. So #2 - # 3 reeds. And I use Vandoren Optimum on It, I think It's too flexible mouthpiece for using light response ligatures such as BG duo.

Can you also make a video on Tradition ligatures?
I'm at Dawkes tomorrow and will be using a tradition black ligature for the videos, so watch this space!

I like silver plated here.
