The "close relationship" of judges, prosecuting attorney's and law enforcement is the exact recipe for a failed judicial system.

I went to school with Mickey the Sheriff and speak to him regularly when I see him out in public, I can say this. He is not an angry man or quick to anger, a very calm and level person. The only thing I could ever seeing him lose his cool over is his children. He was super poor like everybody else growing up, he always took up for the other kids who were not able to defend themselves from bullies and no one really ever had a bad thing to say about Mickey. I don't think any jury in eastern Ky will convict Sheriff Stines. I've heard dozens of people around town is saying numerous things but they all point back to the same issue. But there is a camera in those chambers so a freedom of information order should let the public know exactly what occurred. I don't want to speculate but I think I can sympathize on why this might have happened. I've heard all the rumors but I don't want to say anything until its out in the open. Lets just hope they release the video quickly and it didn't disappear or wasn't recording or mysteriously vanish.

So, regardless of whether there were mitigating circumstances or not, are you saying that blatantly killing a person should automatically exonerate one from accountability? Don't forget, the Sherrif is supposed to uphold the law and not to act in similar ways as ordinary criminals do.

Law enforcement and judges should not be closely associating. When I was a law clerk to a federal judge, at a pretrial conference one of the US Attorneys and I started talking about a shared interest and he invited me to lunch, I declined politely because it could create a conflict of interest for a judge's clerk and a prosecutor to have a close relationship. Nothing useful is being said to the public at large. I have doubts about the sanctity of this judge. Yes I feel for his family and friends. Just what prompted this Sheriff to take the law into his own hands and perpetrate this vigilant form of punishment.????????😮
