Steven Lawson: Standing for the Truth

  • At the Diet of Worms, Martin Luther was confronted with a choice between obeying the Word of God or the words of men. By God's grace, Luther persevered and stood for the truth despite the high cost. In so doing, Luther showed us that we must be people of conviction and courage, committing ourselves to God's Word both in our words and actions. This session will look at God's call for His people to stand courageously on His Word and consider Luther's example at Worms as an example for us.

    Modern evangelism, with its 'man-centred' theology, is now in need of a reformation...with a return to emphasis on the Sovereignty of God, and the Doctrines of Grace...true men of God like Steven Lawson (a modern-day Augustinian great) are leading lights in this...

    This channel is a blessing! that sows the seed of the Word of God; here it is Pastor Steven Lawson; ever serving ; ever receiving from God and ever giving of His Word.
    Romans chapter 10: verse 17 "Then faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of God."
    2 Samuel Chapter 22: Verse 50 "Therefore I will praise you, O Lord, out of the countries, and I will praise your name."
    -
    In the midst of chaos and the spirit of hate & destructiveness is the truth of Jesus Christ.
    We need to take hold of the Lord's promises! To be a courageous Saint who stands up for Jesus Christ against all odds!
    Satan hates us. He hates: God's life insurance : "Jesus Christ Is Lord & only He Saves". "AMEN "
    -
    There is no greater praise than the blessed truth of God's word to the glory of God.
    -
    God the Son has given us the gospel to share with the world.
    -
    Mark 16: Verse 15: And He said unto them, Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
    -
    How can anyone hear the "good" news? Romans chapter 10: verse 17 Then faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of God.
    -
    Romans 10:
    13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
    14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
    15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
    -
    Isaiah chapter 7: verse 14: "Therefore the LORD shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and call His name Immanuel." Hebrew: עִמָּנוּאֵל, "God with us" in human flesh but without sin. The Savior of the world was born to die for our sins! He did so 33 years later. His terrible ordeal, the body was mutilated, the blood was poured out, but the bones were not broken, buried and risen on the 3rd day.
    -
    John Chapter 3: Verse 16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    -
    "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans chapter 3: verse 23
    -
    "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans chapter 6: verse 23
    -
    "I am the way, the truth and the life: no one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14.6)
    -
    "1 Corinthians 15:
    1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
    2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
    3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
    4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
    -
    "7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;." Ephesians 1: 7
    -
    "Because it is my blood that comes from the New Testament, which has been shed for many for the forgiveness of sins." Matthew chapter 26: verse 28
    -
    Ephesians 2: 8: "Because you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you. This is the gift of God.
    -
    Romans 10:
    9 If you confess the Lord Jesus with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
    10 For with the heart man believes in righteousness; And a confession by mouth is given to salvation.
    13 For the one who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
    -
    Salvation and forgiveness of sins is the blessing of anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Those who reject the free gift of salvation, see John chapter 3: verse 16 above, "perish", which means their sins are judged by God the Son and they suffer eternal separation from God and the family of God forever called the "second death". Rev.21: 8.
    -
    Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. ”Romans 5: 1

      Sola Scriptura doesn't mean we can't use additional stories like Luther stories or confessions, but it's only okay as long as it's subordinate to the Word of God.

    • @carljones8334

      I guess he is a Lutheran. Sometimes men will point or quote other men who have an accepted position in order to back up what they are saying, witness Jesus quoting Moses and Isaiah, also Peter referring to Paul, but I do agree, a little less of Luther and more of God's Word. Sola Scriptura!

    • @christinehunt625
      @christinehunt625 2 года назад

      Actually Lawson is Baptist, and he uses quotations from a wide variety of individuals. This message, however, was delivered during a conference on Luther and was to show Luther's tie to the subject, so naturally Luther would be quoted extensively.

    I love this. But when will he teach the true Sabbath as per the 4th Commandment?

  • @linda81197
    @linda81197 6 лет назад +2

    How about us standing for the truth that God did not away with the 7th day Sabbath and presenting the history of the truth of Constantine and the Roman Catholic Church changing Gods Sabbath to Sunday, which the church calls the Lords Day? It's ok and good to worship God 7 days a week, but God said to remember the Sabbath, a day of rest, a day to be kept Holy unto God..... This proceeded out of the mouth of God from heaven to Moses, from Moses to Gods people...Our Lord Jesus Christ said He came NOT to do away with the law, not one BIT of it until heaven and earth pass away. How about WE ALL Google who illegally changed Gods Sabbath which is for all of Gods people. We are grafted in to Israel, we are not Jews, but one new man in Jesus Christ. One law for all Gods people including the Sabbath. I don't post this for debate, Google for yourself the truth. Also Christmas and Easter are man made traditions, not biblical. Gods Holy Days are what we should be observing. If you want to comment, please don't unless you google first what Gods Living Word tells us. We are saved by Gods Grace through faith in Jesus Christ, once saved we are to follow our LORD JESUS CHRIST, pick up our cross and follow Him. If we love Him, we willl obey His commands and words, including Gods 4th commandment on the 7th day, not Sunday the 1st day of the week..... THIS would be standing for the truth of the WORD OF GOD. THIS IS WHAT GOD SAYS.

      @@carljones8334 It was. It was also shown from Genesis as a lasting ordinance from God. Christians now observe the Sabbath on the Lord's Day, as the New Testament teaches, when we gather together as the people of God. There is however, a difference of opinion in the place of the Sabbath amongst Christians today.

    • @carljones8334
      @carljones8334 4 года назад

      @@risingdawn5788 Just that the Sabbath was given to Israel as a perpetual observance, Friday evening to Saturday evening, and I don't see anywhere in the New Testament that Christians were commanded to observe it, actually the opposite.
      I also can't find the Sabbath being moved from Friday evening to Saturday evening to a Sunday midnight to midnight.
      Such a monumental change would have been recorded somewhere in the New Testament, unless it wasn't?
      The Sabbath keeping is observance of the law, yet Paul asks the foolish Galatians, since they were justified by faith, how were they perfected by law? He even goes as far as asking them to identify those who had bewitched them.
      Something Christians today should be asking.

    Sinner, you are invited to trust in Christ this morning.
    Come, this only hope... this salvation is available
