Yes a person is allowed to like a certain style in their mare but anyone changing to fit a style isnt being true to themselves. Personally I like the look of a woman in a Sarashi and black jacket. I even like the beautiful tattoos that would be associated with the Yakuza. Doesn't mean they are in gangs or are bad people. If you like someone than like them for who they are and don't expect them to change.

This story lost my suspension of disbelief when Keiichi tries to break up the fight between Kanae and the other thug: the manga as written is all "Brady Bunch" and no reality at all. In the real world, Keiichi would have been punched by the thug, the two girls would have fought, and one would have been seriously hurt or killed. The less-injured girl would have run, Keiichi would have come to just to be arrested for the assault on the seriously injured girl (and probably released later, but maybe not if the thug was the loser), and have to deal with having been complicit in the serious injury or death of a person despite his ineffectual efforts. Absolute pacifism is simply an invitation to tragedy, and a denial of the value of humanity: while the initiation of violence is abhorrent, *defensive* violence is sometimes necessary: it takes judgement to know when to defend oneself by fighting and when to defend by running. Kanae erred in favor of fighting, but Keiichi erred just as badly by refusing to fight, and by preventing Kanae from choosing between fighting or running. The writers erred most of all by having Keiichi's cliched speech bring the thug to a completely unbelievable tearful repentance.

This story lost my suspension of disbelief when Keiichi tries to break up the fight between Kanae and the other thug: the manga as written is all "Brady Bunch" and no reality at all. In the real world, Keiichi would have been punched by the thug, the two girls would have fought, and one would have been seriously hurt or killed. The less-injured girl would have run, Keiichi would have come to just to be arrested for the assault on the seriously injured girl (and probably released later, but maybe not if the thug was the loser), and have to deal with having been complicit in the serious injury or death of a person despite his ineffectual efforts. Absolute pacifism is simply an invitation to tragedy, and a denial of the value of humanity: while the initiation of violence is abhorrent, *defensive* violence is sometimes necessary: it takes judgement to know when to defend oneself by fighting and when to defend by running. Kanae erred in favor of fighting, but Keiichi erred just as badly by refusing to fight, and by preventing Kanae from choosing between fighting or running. The writers erred most of all by having Keiichi's cliched speech bring the thug to a completely unbelievable tearful repentance.
You know you can talk someone out of fighting in real life, don't you? Besides, this isn't supposed to be reality. You're thinking way too much about it.

Sure it isn't supposed to be real life - but we're not talking about Dr Suess levels of unreality: a character-driven story needs to have reasonably believable characters and character interactions - and these aren't: not even close.
