I love how he keeps it basic while also reviewing unnecessary, but nice to use skincare products. Only so many times I can watch someone review cerave and talk about the same basic moisturizer.
James as a straight man, I Thankyou so much,I was so nervous about going into shops and wanting to buy skincare products,I've followed what you've been saying and now I'am just in and out and my skin is glowing, Thankyou very much my friend. All the best.
Don't worry if someone cares about you buying skincare, I use to feel bad about needing to run in to stores to buy feminine items, so I'd grab other things to hide them. Now I dont care because I need them, your skin needs to be taken care of...no shame.
I tend to get overwhelmed about all the actives we are "supposed" to use. My skin does not like vit. C or peptides (I have tried SO many products.... I'm done.) I feel like the products I use do everything that my skin needs, as so many ingredients have similar effects on the skin. Thanks for this video, James!
Good point! I too feel like I "should" incorporate *every* out there. The one thing I finally know not to do anymore is use a product with oil in it. My skin doesn't enjoy it in the slightest.
I think Vit C is really hyped now. I mean James did say use a treatment and then his choice here is vit C, so you could use something that works for you :) I also get what you mean though... in lockdown I've discovered this world of skin care and it's so confusing... I feel like I need to get all these actives in etc and I don't know how to include them all lmao. But I'm still glad because I've discovered products that actually help my skin - reducing oil in particular.
Yes! Ive just taken a week to recover from vit C; painful red blotches and breakout, thankfully Im on a break so ive been able to hide in my room for a few days while I recover.
I have used vitamin C, niacinamide, Etc.for 2 years with no results 🤨 so I quit. Only sunscreen does wonders. Actually I have considerably reduced the products I use to use after many tries. So for me : AM : - damp towel with lukewarm water that I just put on my face OR a splash of water 😂 OR a spray of grapefruit water that I love. Actually it depends on my mood 😂 - hyaluronic acid serum - hydrating sunscreen PM : - double cleanse - hyaluronic acid - tretinoin - sometimes moisturiser before bed. I do a peeling once a month. And that’s it! My skin is healthier than ever! I’d say the 2 most important are sunscreen and tretinoin, with both you’re covered! Thanks James, I love your videos ❤️ and never miss any of them. Cheers from Paris 😃
You should do moisturiser in the evening. Especially if you are using watery actives like hyaluronic acid. Also some people might get irritation with tretinoin if they used no occlusive , so in that case is to use moisturiser cream before they apply tretinoin, or any other retinol product.
Ad K yes you’re right that’s why I have a moisturiser with Shea butter for the evening but sometimes I forget or I am too tired. So far I am doing good with retin a, I mean if I peel I back off to once every other day. Honestly I don’t see any difference from before, tones of products and just 2 or 3. I think skincare is very personal and we first go towards several directions before we find the right one.
Kara Leonor true, what works for you, but in general if your retin or hyaluronic acid is watery substance and you just apply that and nothing after, this pulls water out of your skin-so this can dry your skin.
Air T of course you should, I think we can expect results after 6-7 months of use, we must patient. I always try one active at a time, so if it doesn’t suit me I know which one and I can either keep it or put it away 😀 I thought that it was vitamin C that clears my skin but it’s because I use sunscreen everyday for 2 years and a half. My skin is clearer and I had to change the shade of my foundation. Honestly, my skin doesn’t beg for all the creams and serums i stopped using 😄
Ad K yes that’s why I use a cream wit occlusive 😃 I will try to remember and thanks to you I didn’t forget tonight 😁 Fortunately I don’t experience any dryness 😅
Can we just appreciate how GLOWY James's skin is?! Also thanks for the cosrx recomendations!! I bought my mom and me some new cosrx products thanks to your videos! :)
I love love LOVE this!!! I'm a firm believer that a simple routine with not too many steps mixed with consistency is the key. We are bombarded with "buy this and this and this and this this and this too" videos, making people feel bad for not having 9/ 12 steps in their routine, it's so refreshing listening to you James 😘
@LdCA yea i have eczema prone skin so i don't wash my face in the morning and I only use non water resistant sunscreen and don't wear makeup, so I don't double cleanse 🤷♀️ and my skin is so sensitive, i can only use an exfoliating treatment 2 times a week, the other nights, I just use moisturizer
Honestly, I think that's probably the norm for most people! I just washed my face with water in the shower until I was in my 40s, and used an alcohol toner to wipe away my eye makeup. I only started skincare because I damaged it from one summer of gardening. Before that I just avoided the sun. I did wear spf, but did not reapply, and sweated most of it off.
Acne prone oily skin, start right off with 1% Paulas choice 1% retinol, didn’t buffer, just glowing skin and clearer skin after 2-3 weeks (purging a bit first week)
@@boozylu Tretinoin is prescription only in some countries, I think James mentioned that is the case in the UK. Closest you can get is retinol but at least where I live Ordinary retinol is sold out everywhere and I'm getting frustrated lol. I've been using it for a year and haven't been able to get any for months now.
As a person who has a hard time trusting products due to contact dermatitis to MCI/MI preservatives this video helped me find skin care that I am not allergic to. It helped me to develop a skin care routine that was absolutely nonexistent before. I have watched many RUclips videos on skincare/makeup and I feel like James is someone who is out there for the viewer and not someone who is trying to push product or follow beauty fads. I purchased everything he recommended and if I was asked how I heard about the product I referenced this video!
James, you have been my skin's savior. Skincare can be so overwhelming and my routine is strictly items you've selected. The ONLY thing I'm stuck on is when or how to use vit C with niacinamide. Vit C has taken the backseat until I sort this out. Much love from Canada. Thank you for being so absolutely transparent.
My routine: Philosophy Purity Cleanser Tretnoin OR The Ordinary Niacinamide It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream moisturizer If I wear makeup then Banila Co Clean it Zero balm before Cleanser. Oh! And Shiseido Sunscreen
As someone with oily skin, I only cleanse my face in the morning during the summer when my skin is at its oiliest and sweatiest. I use mild cleansing pads so my skin gets exfoliated too. I know that the disposable pads are wasteful but I figure since I only use one or two packs a year, it’s not as bad.
(my own notes, just adding comment for algorithm) Cleanser in morning not necessary in cooler months if skin doesn't get dirty over night. vit c good for morning treatment. Night.. double cleanse if put sunscreen or make up on. Can do Vit c again. start retinol slowly and build up, 1-2 days per week.
I really love the "lava lamp - light" you have "floating" in your background! I just can´t have enough of you, your recomendations and your voice! Love youuu 🖤🖤🖤
Honestly I simplified my routine and switched to mostly cerave and my skin is a lot better, most of my acne cleared up. I think the ceramides made a really big difference. I threw out most natural/organic products as well and that improved my skin sooo much. Now its just morning: cerave salicylic acid cleanser (sometimes), cerave moisturiser, la Roche Posay sunscreen Evening: clean it zero balm cleanser (if makeup), cerave salicylic acid second cleanse, cerave pm moisturiser Sometimes use a light acid. Its easy simple cheap and so much better!
I thought that too but I couldn't be bothered to check hehe! I think it's probably easy to mix up because I remember thinking it sounds like it should be the other way round. I guess it's this idea we have that "chemical" means "not natural" so can't mean "organic" lolllll
(Science teacher here) I’ve been noticing RUclipsrs using “inorganic” and “organic” more often to describe sunscreen filters very recently. It’s definitely a more scientific (and accurate) way of describing sunscreen filters. It’s moving away from “chemical sunscreen” which is a misnomer, but generally accepted as an organic filter. I always differentiated the two by the idea that inorganic (physical) filters act almost like a mirror where the UV rays bounce off a “physical” barrier. Organic (chemical) filters absorb the UV rays and make their chemical bonds vibrate and disperse energy.
This is the exact routine I have been following since I started after finding your channel as I couldn't find time for all the "n" number of steps....glad to know I have been doing it right...I always check your videos before buying any particular product just to check whether it's approved by you.... thank you...great videos ♥️
I have oily skin and I just use a warm washcloth on my face in the morning and it does the trick. Are use a clean one every day and I never re use it twice. And I use Cerave moisturizer with SPF 30. I don’t use a separate cream with the sunscreen on top I use them together.
OMG!! I’m so happy!! When I made my essential skincare routine video, I was sooo nervous that’d I’d gotten something wrong 😂 I feel validated by James 🤣
I love vit.c, it brightens my skin soo much and i can tell when i run out and stop for a while. As soon as i go back to using it i remember why i love it.
Hi James If you haven’t already, could you review the brand ‘face theory’ they’re U.K. based and kind of remind me of the ordinary with their style eco-friendly packaging and active skincare products but they’re a bit more expensive.
Julia Dean, oh I love that one too! While there are a number of the more creamy/buttery moisturisers out there that are nice too this one is so good for when you want something light
I finally caved in and ordered the Purito sunscreen and I'm so excited! Will you be reviewing Facetheory? I have got so many ads for them but can't find many unsponsored reviews...
The Purito comfy water sun block is so good! I am 13 and have sensitive combination skin that reacts to chemical sunscreens. Like I cannot use any of the Banana Boat sunscreens etc. The texture of the Purito sunscreen is so light my family and friends at school are shocked if I tell them I am wearing sunscreen. My advice for people that have sensitive skin from my experience to see if you may be allergic to either physical or chemical sunscreens. This was how it helped me to find the right sunscreen for me. Good luck everyone.
joannej_1974 RUclips Does it give you a dewy look or dry matte? Im running low on my Krave Beet Shield and loooove how it looks but am looking for a cheaper alternative :)
I don't normally comment but during lock down I was binge watching James because as we all know once you start you can't stop. He inspired me to actually start a skincare routine and I decided to try face theory and it's been over a month now since I started and my skin has never looked better. I normally don't go out of the house without my war paint (make up on) but my skin is just so damn good right now. I do have mild rosacea but it's really calmed down since I started using their products. I keep searching RUclips for reviews but there aren't many yet.
I absolutely LOVE the Skin79 non chemical sunscreen, it's not too thick and spreads nicely. Key word: spread, don't rub! It can end up a little sticky but I find that's a great base for foundation or whatever I want on top, and if not I just dust some powder on and it doesn't stick unevenly or go patchy. In summer I use a light moisturiser all over underneath and it's fine, in winter I use a more hydrating cream plus an eye cream and I don't dry out at all. I'm very pale though so I have no idea if it leaves a white cast
Oh my god this could not come at a better time. I love watching these videos, even though I rarely act on it, just watching it makes me feel like me skin is better already hahaha I love him so much ✨✨
I was just showing my husband my "fancy" new skin care products and have realised that I've been using the ordinary 1% retinol. Every day. I thought I'd bought the niacinamide serum. Nothing bad seems to have happened to my skin... But kind of worried now 🤦🏻♀️😩
Just got these for my daily skin care routine: -Shangpree - S-Energy Facial Mousse Cleanse -Cosrx - Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion -Manyo - White Vita·C Liquid Serum -Cosrx - Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF50 Pa+++ I am a total newbie to male skin care and hope these works out for me. Thank you James for your continuous guidance :P
Thank you for featuring so many skincare professionals and scientists! It's important for the facts to come through with respect to skincare and I'm glad your account is one that amplifies them. Signed, a pathologist and cancer scientist
I would really love a sunscreen video. I've used an spf 15 moisturizer for years because it is light and not thick so it absorbs readily, bit I've not found a 30spf that isn't "beachy" thick sunblock.
Purito Unscented Centella SPF50+ PA++++ is very light and elegant (quite dewy though). Not my personal favourite but I have tried it and it is beloved by soooo many people. I’ve also heard good things about the Keep Cool Bamboo Sun Essence
I never cared about having a skin care routine but I had really dry skin and Very textured skin. Now I love my skincare routine and love taking real care around my skin and how it makes me feel so much better and my skin responded really well to the products I use. Skincare is so good
I've heard of skin care 'gurus' if you will having a very basic routine but I've never really seen one in action. I appreciate seeing it when it's needed for you!
"What I use when it's summer here...so, four days out of the year..." But will it work, here, in Florida, where it's summer 361 days out of the year! 😂
You bring up some good points, especially about dermatologists recommendations. I remember watching one talk & she was talking about her biases as a doctor. She said, “Look, I’m a dermatologist. No one comes to see me when their skin is wonderful and they’re having no issues. I am trained and primed to look for potential problems. That’s always going to influence my suggestions for you guys.” That really reframed my perspective on their recommendations. They’re the experts, of course, but it does really help to consider that part of it too.
could you do this but with more affordable skin care?? I would love to have a simple but effective routine but those products are waaaay out of my price range :(
I feel you, try The Ordinary and Inkey List products, easy to specifically target your 'issues' and very cheap :) I love The Ordinary, new to Inkey List but have heard great things :)
Mel_By_The_Sea thank you! I’ve already tried stuff from the ordinary but it’s kinda difficult to order where I currently live... I’ll definitely try Inkey list products if I can find a place who ships it to where I live!
@@LauraHeartEchelon Giving away my secrets here but have you tried ordering The Ordinary products direct from deciem.com? They ship just about everywhere LOL
I need to hug you. This helped me soo much. I barely have time to get passed just washing my face with water. I don't wear make up, i don't have time for it. This helped so much because I've been looking for just what i actually need.
Can you do a video on your favorite physical sunscreens? I'm having such a hard time finding reviews on them and I want to try avoiding the chemical ones If possible
I have super sensitive, sorta oily skin. I double cleanse with Cetaphil gentle wash, a toner (haven’t found one I like enough to recommend) usually with ACV as an ingredient, my prescription medication, cetaphil moisturizing lotion (has an oil about half way down the ingredient list but its the only one I’ve tried that I can use), and a sunscreen for during the day (playing with Bare Republic face gel lotion). Pretty simple, I’ve only been using a toner and the prescription for about 2 months, but the rest I’ve been doing for years.
If you decide to upgrade to tretinoin (Retin-A) try Dermatica. It is a prescription service available in the UK US and some other countries. There are medical professionals on board to compound a formulation specifically for your skin needs and mail the formulation to you each month.
My basic routine AM Water cleanser Brightening essence Moisturiser Spf PM Oil cleanser (for make up only) Water cleanser Exfoliating toner Moisturiser Oil (in winter)
My routine is just water in the morning, cleanser at night. Makeup remover if I wore it that day. And my skin is clear. I want to add more products to my skincare routine because self care and all that but whenever I do, I breakout. Moisturizers break me out, toners sometimes break me out and make my skin red, serums break me out, sunscreens break me out. I don’t know what to do ):
I dont usually double cleanse, because my skin doesn‘t like it. But after wearing a whole full face of makeup I feel like I need to get this all off my face - thats when I double cleanse. 😃 Or double cleanse „light“ (use an oil on dry face, rub it all over, emulsify it with water THAN put another cleanser on top like foam cleanser or sth like that and than rinse with water 😃 this is less irritating for my skin)
prescription Retin A is worth the time and investment. I began adding this to my skincare routine 20 years ago. I'm 57 and my skin looks healthier than most 20 years younger, I also always use sunscreen. I love how gracefully my skin is aging. This is an unfiltered picture...
AYYYYEEEE NOTIF FRIENDS!!! ✌️ Hope you're all doing well ❤️ I'm new to skin care so I'm still learning and all, and I can't thank you enough for doing this, because Lord knows my impulsive self will just buy random products and would most likely end up not buying the essential products 😅
I so appreciate your advice. I am 43 and I won't do any surgical process to keep young looking. I have added a serum to my skin care and changed up how I do it. People are noticing!
Hi, James (and also to anybody else reading who has experience with this). I have heard you say that you microneedled in the past and it helped you with scars. I remember years ago when this started becoming mainstream a lot of people were doing it with the tool they roll over their face and then would put a vitamin C serum on after for it to penetrate. I've since seen Hyram cringe when he sees skincare routines with that now because vitamin C can irritate, but I still see people recommend this here and there. What are your thoughts on this? Is it a big no no or is it beneficial for postinflammatory hyperpigmentation?
I have no experience but from watching too much skincare youtube, it’s supposed to be good for scars and PIH since it stimulates collagen production but it should be done by a professional since the risks are too high if you DIY at home.
You can use Vit C after 3 days you microneedled your skin. Within those 3 days, just use vitamin B5 and/ or Hyaluronic Acid to “repair” your skin please.
I am about to start a skin care routine, it is a little late for me coz I'm at my 30's but I will still give it a shot. I watched your videos before purchasing the right products. I thank you! So far, you are the only guru who really has explanation on every step and every product. Out of topic. Are you goth? Or a metalhead by any chance? I love your room!
Hi James, don't know if you respond to comments. I'm a 21 year old male, haven't really bothered with skin care in the past, but I wanted to try and get nicer looking skin (smoother, lighter, more even/consistent). I think my skin is slightly oilier than most, but I do get very dry skin around my eyes. I don't suffer from acne much anymore, but I do get the occasional breakout. Typically skincare for me has consisted of little more than washing my face in the mornings and before bed with plain ordinary bar soap. No exfoliant, moisturiser, etc. I've been very hesitant to experiment with a more in-depth skincare routine because ngl I get quite intimidated when someone comes out and tells me to use a dozen different products every day. It sounds expensive, and I'm worried that using too many products may do more harm than good. This video was quite helpful, but it left me with a couple questions; why do you use cleanser instead of regular bar soap? What're the disadvantages? Are serums really necessary?
I almost do this exact routine except I use a BHA every other morning instead of Vitamin C and I buffer my retinol with a hydrating serum instead of my moisturizer. I can’t live without BHA and Vitamin C does nothing for me. Also my night moisturizer was too occlusive so my retinol couldn’t do anything, but my hydrating serum works great as a buffer. Great video! I love a minimal routine!
@@JamesWelsh This is what my friend with basically perfect "born this way" skin tells me to do to improve my skin... me who has super sensitive oily skin with quite a lot of rosacea... yeah, no thanks xD
@@hawkins347 I'm this person 🥴 I apologise to everyone I've ever said this to but.. I never really had acne as a teen. Like the occasional pimple. Fairly even skin. Not dry or oily. No black heads. I used whatever soap I washed my body with and slapped whatever moisturizer I used on my body. My husband h.a.t.e.s me. He's got pretty problem prone skin.
never watched a video of yours before but not even one minute in and I immediately subscribed! you have such a chill vibe and you're straight to the point!
Heyyyy! Yes I know 😝 I was just listing off sunscreen type names in no particular order but I managed to confuse everyone 😅 need to get better at my presenting skills haha
Hello! Yes; there's virtually no difference between a cleansing oil or balm. Balms are solid at first and the you need to warm them up in your hands before you apply them to the face. Careful, though: some balms have polyethylene, which is a plastic. I personally prefer an oil for that reason.
If you have dry/sensitive or a mixed skin type, I would recommend getting a cleanser from the brand Asepxia. I have the asepxia softening acne bar soap. I've only used this for about a week but I noticed my skin becoming more soft and my dark spots fading. However, I'm not sure if this product would be available to people around the world since it's a Mexican brand, but if you see any products from that brand, I would recommend that you try it✨
I honestly would like to thank you. I am someone with oilly dehydrated eczema prone skin and it can be really hard to separate the facts from the fiction on the internet as so many products seem to be falsely advertising or gimmicky and it's extremely difficult to find something that works. But knowing that you're honest about skin care and that you actually do research and mention your sources is extremely helpful (even though most of the things you talk about and products wouldn't work on my skin as well)
Can you do a whole video about retinol? What are the best ones for beginners, what to use once your skin gets used to it, what retinol does, when to apply, all the works.

@@nessabrcb5137 eye cream is the exact same as moisturizer but with a different name. There's no need
James: 4 steps in the morning and 5 in the evening is all you need
me: *has one step in the morning and 2 - 3 in the evening* 👁👄👁
LOL!!! If it’s working for your skin, carry on! 😜
Same!!! Lol
LdCA that’s exactly my routine
Acne prone oily skin, start right off with 1% Paulas choice 1% retinol, didn’t buffer, just glowing skin and clearer skin after 2-3 weeks (purging a bit first week)
Was using The Ordinary’s retinol on an evening, now tretinoin, and my mind is blown. Of everything I’ve tried it’s made the biggest difference.
Where can you get Tretinoin in the UK? 😊
@@boozylu Tretinoin is prescription only in some countries, I think James mentioned that is the case in the UK. Closest you can get is retinol but at least where I live Ordinary retinol is sold out everywhere and I'm getting frustrated lol. I've been using it for a year and haven't been able to get any for months now.
lucy heath I get it from Dermatica. Online consultation and prescription strength.
Tangerina Ordinary Retinol I got from Beauty Bay recently, I use it on hands etc. Had it from there loads.
I totally agree. I’ve used numerous OTC retinol products that did very little. Been using tret for about 3 months and the results are significant.
My routine:
Philosophy Purity Cleanser
Tretnoin OR The Ordinary Niacinamide
It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream moisturizer
If I wear makeup then Banila Co Clean it Zero balm before Cleanser.
HeyMimsi You use sunscreen too, right?
Kyle Bolton of course!
I cut my cleansing pads in half - I have a big round moonface and half a pad is still plenty ime since they're fully saturated in the tub.
(my own notes, just adding comment for algorithm)
Cleanser in morning not necessary in cooler months if skin doesn't get dirty over night.
vit c good for morning treatment.
Night.. double cleanse if put sunscreen or make up on.
Now its just
morning: cerave salicylic acid cleanser (sometimes), cerave moisturiser, la Roche Posay sunscreen
Evening: clean it zero balm cleanser (if makeup), cerave salicylic acid second cleanse, cerave pm moisturiser
Sometimes use a light acid. Its easy simple cheap and so much better!
Hi James! Just wanted to point that you mixed up organic and inorganic:
chemical = organic
Mineral = inorganic
I thought that too but I couldn't be bothered to check hehe! I think it's probably easy to mix up because I remember thinking it sounds like it should be the other way round. I guess it's this idea we have that "chemical" means "not natural" so can't mean "organic" lolllll
Wrong, "chemical" encompasses all things that physically exist both organic and inorganic. Minerals are a type of inorganic material.
echoplex I’m referring to the generalized verbiage around sunscreen filters
(Science teacher here) I’ve been noticing RUclipsrs using “inorganic” and “organic” more often to describe sunscreen filters very recently. It’s definitely a more scientific (and accurate) way of describing sunscreen filters. It’s moving away from “chemical sunscreen” which is a misnomer, but generally accepted as an organic filter. I always differentiated the two by the idea that inorganic (physical) filters act almost like a mirror where the UV rays bounce off a “physical” barrier. Organic (chemical) filters absorb the UV rays and make their chemical bonds vibrate and disperse energy.
volcomwave Thanks for explaining more! :)
This is the exact routine I have been following since I started after finding your channel as I couldn't find time for all the "n" number of steps....glad to know I have been doing it right...I always check your videos before buying any particular product just to check whether it's approved by you.... thank you...great videos ♥️
When you have a skincare but your skin don’t care
This is actually a mood 😂
This hit home😣
You are my new obsession for good skin care! I always used drugstore brands and scrubs until I heard your amazing voice. Thank you for existing!
Hey, could you please do a video specifically on moisturisers. I have oily skin and can barely find gel ones
Coming soon 😜
Julia Dean, oh I love that one too! While there are a number of the more creamy/buttery moisturisers out there that are nice too this one is so good for when you want something light
My basic is
morning- cleanse, moisturize ( cerave) , sunscreen,
Evening- double cleanse, moisturize.
I finally caved in and ordered the Purito sunscreen and I'm so excited! Will you be reviewing Facetheory? I have got so many ads for them but can't find many unsponsored reviews...
Same! Mine arrived and it is really like a light lotion. I was so amazed I was worried it wouldn't protect, but it does!
RiceBunniiii Klairs Essence is amazing

I like the way your nails look painted black. Very polished
I was just showing my husband my "fancy" new skin care products and have realised that I've been using the ordinary 1% retinol. Every day. I thought I'd bought the niacinamide serum. Nothing bad seems to have happened to my skin... But kind of worried now 🤦🏻♀️😩
HOW DID YOU NOT NOTICE AHAHAHHA. But it should be fine as long as your skin tolerates it well and you're lathering sunscreen on every day
Just got these for my daily skin care routine:
-Shangpree - S-Energy Facial Mousse Cleanse
-Cosrx - Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion
-Manyo - White Vita·C Liquid Serum
-Cosrx - Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF50 Pa+++
I am a total newbie to male skin care and hope these works out for me. Thank you James for your continuous guidance :P
I love COSRX! Hope your skincare routine works out!

I'm the opposite, my morning routine has three steps. Cleanser, toner (or vitamin C, I switch) & SPF. I treat at night and protect during the day.
I would really love a sunscreen video. I've used an spf 15 moisturizer for years because it is light and not thick so it absorbs readily, bit I've not found a 30spf that isn't "beachy" thick sunblock.
Heyyyy! I have a few ☺️ I have a sunscreen playlist
Skincare is so good
I was in the middle of binge watching your old videos when this one dropped hehe :)
I was re-watching the one where Robert put make-up on James 🖤 I was readyyyyy 🤗
I've heard of skin care 'gurus' if you will having a very basic routine but I've never really seen one in action. I appreciate seeing it when it's needed for you!
"What I use when it's summer here...so, four days out of the year..." But will it work, here, in Florida, where it's summer 361 days out of the year! 😂
i can relate in texas
You are the reason I have started taking care of my skin and I can see the results. 💯
You forgot Dr. Dray! She’s changed my skin significantly in one year.
They’re the experts, of course, but it does really help to consider that part of it too.
who else agrees that James advice has been life changing 😅
Instead of using moisturizer in the morning, oily skin can use sunscreen with skin hyrdating ingredients. Sunscreen is already occlusive.
could you do this but with more affordable skin care?? I would love to have a simple but effective routine but those products are waaaay out of my price range :(
I feel you, try The Ordinary and Inkey List products, easy to specifically target your 'issues' and very cheap :) I love The Ordinary, new to Inkey List but have heard great things :)
Mel_By_The_Sea thank you! I’ve already tried stuff from the ordinary but it’s kinda difficult to order where I currently live... I’ll definitely try Inkey list products if I can find a place who ships it to where I live!

Please?!?!?!?
I have super sensitive, sorta oily skin. I double cleanse with Cetaphil gentle wash, a toner (haven’t found one I like enough to recommend) usually with ACV as an ingredient, my prescription medication, cetaphil moisturizing lotion (has an oil about half way down the ingredient list but its the only one I’ve tried that I can use), and a sunscreen for during the day (playing with Bare Republic face gel lotion). Pretty simple, I’ve only been using a toner and the prescription for about 2 months, but the rest I’ve been doing for years.
Just the video I needed! My skin is freaking out and I will cut back on my routine next week!
It’s helps so so much!
I play your videos to hear your calming voice. So soothing❤️
i love james, his sense of humor brightens my day each time I watch his videos whilst contributing to my skincare knowledge
If you decide to upgrade to tretinoin (Retin-A) try Dermatica. It is a prescription service available in the UK US and some other countries. There are medical professionals on board to compound a formulation specifically for your skin needs and mail the formulation to you each month.
Short, sweet and effective.

I’m glad to see your Mimikyu in the background has stopped hiding behind objects 😂
Talking about night creams, you said petroleum, I heard petronium 😂 Harry Potter moment

Ah a potterhead
prescription Retin A is worth the time and investment.

That’s amazing!! ❤️
"Sorry, there's a pigeon bullying another pigeon out there" 😂😂😂
I can't!
When the skin god calls I answer 😌✨
I almost do this exact routine except I use a BHA every other morning instead of Vitamin C and I buffer my retinol with a hydrating serum instead of my moisturizer. I can’t live without BHA and Vitamin C does nothing for me. Also my night moisturizer was too occlusive so my retinol couldn’t do anything, but my hydrating serum works great as a buffer. Great video! I love a minimal routine!

if i use my oil based makeup remover, does it work same as a cleansing balm? or they're two completely different things?
