This is a good question 😊 you can use an adapter to change it to type C however you won’t get the speed benefits type C offers just using an adapter, the only to get the benefits of C is to use a type C to type C cable 😊

Yes fairly similar but this will vary massively based on the quality of cable you buy rather than which type of USB it is 😊
