  • On 27 April 2024, Bulleid 'Merchant Navy' pacific 35028 'Clan Line' headed its first passenger working since a heavy overhaul. It was a train to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its first main line run in preservation. It ran from London Victoria to Bath, via the SWML, being given the rare honour of running fast line all the way from Wimbledon to Worting Junction. A flawless run westwards, but the filming was less so...!

I am so glad I am as old as I am, to remember when this was a normal, daily occurrence.

This is lovely news!! Clan Line has been worked on for years. It’s about time they got her back to streaming the VSOE Pullman cars!!

It is good news, but she's only been out for overhaul for about nine months, I think. Perhaps it seems longer...

Waw, no diesel locomotive at the back this time.

!! What a shame... how annoying. It wasn't a total loss, though. 👍🏻

You wern't totally 'bowled' Ian, but very annoying all the same. You did really well considering though, and what a fabulous sight No.28 made!

Thanks, Jim - yes, it could have been worse, and I managed to make a feature of it! I had hoped to able to use the other platform but, if everything had run perfectly to time I would have had a stopping train sitting there as 35028 passed! As it turned out, that train was a minute and a half late so I would have been OK. It's the nature of the beast...
